I'm sure they go straight into 'Arry's pocket. If he knows how to use them that is.

So much time for Herrmann, had a Gladbach save on my last game. He was my star man.
-
Got bored of Saints. Started a new save with Ipswich. Came absolutely flying out of the blocks, playing Poch's 4231 high tempo, pressing, possession. Spanking it up until xmas, well was 2nd - which when tipped for safe mid-table was pretty decent. Then just before Jan, absolutely fell off a cliff. Good thing for that start otherwise I'd have been relegated. Nothing could stop the rot, changing players, changing tactics, training etc etc. Finished 19th FFS. Back to the drawing board, with no money to spend. May just sell my 2 best players and try rebuild on £10m, ambitious.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in that room.

Funny really, another case of too many players in one window. Wonder if our transfer experts will take note, or just petulantly demand 20 new signings in every transfer window,
-
This ain't Football Manager mate. Will all still come out of SFC's coffers. The point of telling him to take a pay cut is that they don't want to spend that much on him.
-
I don't for one second think MP will be the next Spurs manager (can't actually see it being Capello either), I actually have no idea who they will go for. But, in the unlikely event MP does go, I'd take AVB in a heartbeat. Been stitched up twice in my opinion.
-
I agree the United job is harder, for the reasons you give. I just think it's also fair to say it's a tricky job and a tremendous opportunity. Much like the Spurs job.
-
Don't think the two are mutually exclusive. I think it is both. Much like Moyes at United.

It was on MOTD2. He was asked if the signings were his players, and he gave a strange evasive answer. Used the line "I don't know if I can make this public" (or very similar), before stopping and then continually using "we", when talking about the incoming players. Granted, 'we' isn't that weird in modern football when in comes to transfers - but it was more the manner of the delivery I guess.
-
Pretty sure they were mostly Baldini's signings. Would be harsh/foolish to sack him on that alone. His comments last night regarding the signings were strange, I wonder if that is what p***ed off Levy? As said on the other thread, you hire AVB for his long-term visions. Chelsea & Spurs have both brought him in for this, and to rebuild a squad. And then completely forgotten why they bought him in. Silly sacking in my opinion. There really aren't many better options around at the minute. Maybe the sudden availability of Steve Clarke forced their hand.
-
Stupid decision really. Rebuilding a squad take time. The appeal of AVB is his long-term vision. It's as if Chelsea & Spurs hire him for this reason, then completely forget about it. Wonder if it's anything to do with those odd comments last night about the signings not necessarily being his players? Can see MP getting linked to the job.

Can't see it happening if I am honest. Just doesn't seem like the type of signing we go for. Can't picture us willing to be paying those sort of wages for another keeper. Could be wrong, but I'd be pretty surprised if this happened.
-
He was actually well thought of for the most part, but yes, there is no denying he had a shocker at the start of last season. He had previously been touted in the media as a potential to for the job, whilst still manager at Espanyol.
-
He almost seems like he never actually has the ball under control, despite the fact he clearly does. Big fan of J-Rod. Think he has been criminally under-rated on here for some time. And those saying he wasn't written off or criticised last season are just wrong. There were people questioning why we signed him, calling him a waste of money, not good enough, and some even said we would be lucky to get half of our out late back on him. Granted, some of this was from the same people that just cannot seem to fathom that not every single player signed will be a hit from the absolute get-go. It was probably fair to say he should have got a few more last season. And he is doing that this season. Already 6 league goals, and not even half way through the season yet. Could get to around the 15 mark, which for someone not playing as an out and out striker, without the help of pens/free-kicks I'd say that's a decent return. Still a few years til he is at his peak too. G'warn Jay!

I'm sorry, when were Espanyol or Pochettino relegated?
-
I imagine I'm going to get some stick for this, but is RDM really that great? He was already sacked by WBA once. I know he has a Champions League on his CV, but c'mon how much of that was him. Terry, Drogba & Lampard were de facto managers really. FWIW I agree with the rest of your post. I think it's a shame, but there have been rumours about his position for a while. I seem to recall murmurs at the tail end of last season. He had a good start to last season, a v good start thanks to a decent counter attacking set-up and a good front line in Long & Lukaku. Long seems out of favour, Lukaku is gone now the have Anichebe & Anelka. Whilst they don't look anywhere near as steady. I'm not hugely surprised if I'm honest. Sad for the guy, I'm sure he'll find a new club, but this is football. They know what they are getting themselves in for. They get paid well to do it to. Imagine I'll get stick for that too.

6-3 City pen!

As much as we got 'steamrolled ' last season. Cisse was offside, the penalty was soft and Jos' own goal was a fluke.
-
Moment of the year, Barry busting the myth of Everton having to sell to finance transfers, by linking to a site showing how in every transfer window they make a net profit.

Serious question, if in your opinion May 1st is "too leftie" (not saying you are right or wrong), then do you not think an 11/11 Memorial Day is more politically charged?

A sad indictment of the modern Saints fan?

It's this guys second thread this week for taking shots at saints (and football) fans this week. What is that an indictment of? -

Some thread about Cortese. Apparently he'd never sell advertising if people don't like him. Because people never do business with people they don't like. You should know... -

It's not the travel mate, it's the cost - over 65% of my monthly income goes on rent & travel (to work). That's before food & bills - plus travelling to see the gf (granted that is my choice). I really wish I was in a position to go to every game, but I simply cannot afford to. And as I said, with my commitment to a long term, long-distance relationship, committing to a season ticket simply isn't feasible. I don't know any Saints fans I could sell the tickets on to for when I couldn't make the majority of games. I fail to see how being in a worse off financial position (I'm not complaining btw - I don't actually have it that bad, could be a million times worth of really) makes me a worse fan than someone local enough or well off enough to go more regularly.
