  1. What, being called happy isn't going to cause you deep offence? good post btw
  2. Yes this. But if the new players don't also play :x:x
  3. They aren't. But shhhhhhh, how can Barry rally against the invisible "Happy" people. Because that is such an insult.
  4. BUT I WANT MORE SIGNINGS!!! NOW!!
  5. Whereas Sunderland, who adopted the approach you advocate, are reaping the rewards of such an approach. Also keenly ignoring the signings that are playing well. Lovren & Wanyama look to be very good buys, so far. 2/3 ain't all that bad really. I reckon most clubs success rate is about that, if not lower.
  6. As a daily TFL commuter - I am convinced the entire network is out to stress me out to the point of heart attack
  7. Yeah, I'm sure our manager, you know the one that has also managed in Spain and was also an international centre-back - who also managed said player for 18 months had some knowledge of him.
  8. That isn't what I am disputing though. According to Barry, all other teams signings are a success straight away. Whilst the Bales of this world (i.e. the ones that take a bit of time to settle and start performing) are the exception. This isn't true. Neither is the suggestion that it's a deliberate policy to sign players that take time to settle. Of course we want players to perform well from day dot, in reality this doesn't happen as often as any one (player, staff, manager or fan) at any club would like.
  9. 15m Euro is less than £15m. It's frustrating when they don't settle in straight away, but this is much more the rule, with those that come in and perform straight away the exception. Of course everyone wants players to come in and perform straight away, but some people are a bit calmer and more realistic. With the awareness that this isn't always the case.
  10. Yes, clearly Bale was the only player that came good after a season or so of not so great performances.
  11. It was that strategy that saw us stagnate and then regress instead of kick on in '03.
  12. Sounds like someone else. What would be so bad about a 9th/10th place finish? Certainly progress from last season. Ah of course, you don't like progress, or us winning or doing well. We should lose every week and know our place in the football pyramid. Ambition is embarrassing FFS.
  13. No-one here is saying we are going to be top 4 regulars. People get wound up with you for your reveling in any defeat or poor performance, in ability to back any player or member of staff at the club and your utter stupidity. HTH.
  14. He was there 18 months, initially on loan which was made permanent. Are you saying you have a better measure of the blokes mental attributes from watching him not even ten times than a manager that worked with him day in day out for a season and a half? Dazzling arrogance there.
  15. If we did it in time, he still couldn't have played against Villa.
  16. I thought the international transfer loan windows closes with the transfer window? So domestic loans have to be domestic only? Could be wrong. MLG!
  17. Thought emergency loans had to be domestic?
  18. Which teams 3rd/4th choice keeper should we go for then?
  19. Crazy idea I know, but how about we get behind Gazza? Possibly could have got the 2nd, but it would have been a v good save. It always looks worse in slo-mo on a replay. It's always going to be harder coming on as a sub keeper. Let alone at Stamford Bridge. It would be great to have 2 international keepers. But keepers sat on the bench every game rarely stay internationals for long.
  20. Rickie had a poor game last week - had he started and had a bad game again it would have been "why didn't Osvaldo play?!" Someone said on another thread (possibly Pap?) that had we taken 4 points from Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool & Chelsea away in 4 draws it would be seen as a good return. Instead, we have had a couple of losses and suddenly the place stinks of sodden nappies again. Go figure.

  22. Does there really need to be a thread on every player? If it just a poor performance - just say he was poor on the post-match thread. He was far from being the only player that had a poor game today - why is there no Lallana thread, or JWP etc? As I said, he has been disappointing so far - and today he wasn't good at all. Criticising a poor performance is one thing, but that isn't all that is being said here is it? There are people already calling him a poor signing, waste of money and calling him sh!te - this an Italian international striker. There's quite a difference there really, isn't there?
  23. Amen brother. No denying he has been disappointing so far, apart from fleeting signs of quality. Got to love the experts on here calling him sh!t. I think Pochettino has done earn to earn a bit of trust so far. He will know Osvaldo better than anyone on here, and if he deemed him worthy of being purchased then we should really be giving the guy a bit more time. Do people really not understand that not all players come to a new league and light the place up from the first minute. There are of course exceptions, but they are just that - exceptions, certainly not the rule. I never thought of myself as the most patient of people, but blimey. The petulance and impatience of some on here is just baffling. As Turks has correctly pointed out, it was a poor attacking performance on the whole, against a team likely to be very strong contenders for the title - who havn't lost at home under Jose in the league ever. Must be all the expensive foreigners fault. Ship him out and buy a good old fashioned Brit.
