  1. Errrm, that ignores the fact that without Cortese, none of Liebherr, Pardew, Adkins, Pochettino, Rickie Lambert, and probably players like Lallana or Morgan would be here.
  2. Hard to disagree with that many players, of such high quality.
  3. Look at Tony Fernandes. QPR have massively outspent most of the league. How has that gone for them? Money alone does not win things. Cortese has been backed, but he has invested wisely. It's foolhardy to diminish his achievements simply because Saints have spent money.
  4. But what do any of them guys know? Scholes is streets ahead of Lampard & Gerrard for me.
  5. Random Access Memories, the new Daft Punk album. If you havn't listened yet, don't bother. It's dull. Not even for a Daft Punk album, just generally a really dull album. I'm heartbroken.
  6. If they are anyone's, they are Marcelo Bielsa's.
  7. Yep, agree with Alpine above. As always a good summation of events. Can't for the life of me understand people that want him out. Surely his predecessors demonstrate what a step up NC is. AC Milan were sniffing around him when we were L1. But obviously the wombles on here no more than the football people, as always.
  8. David Moyes spent £16m net on transfers in his time at Everton. In premiership terms, that is far from an awful lot of money.
  9. I don't get this talk of him being a good player. In the last two seasons he has played CB for QPR & Blackburn, who both leaked goals and ended the season relegated. Coincidence? £12m & on £100k p/w no chance will QPR break even on that.
  10. Yeah sorry. New Galaxy tablet. Typing on it is a pain in the rear.
  11. I can see, he disagree's with me too. Though, I think we have broadly similar tastes. Errrm, sorry about that playlist. A lot is a bit naff. Hadn't listened to most of it before putting it in there. There's some good stuff, but yeah, a fair amount of dross.
  12. Good call, would be very high on my list also.
  13. All sounds a bit ambiguous to me. Changes may happen, but no-one seems to know, or at least no-one is saying what exactly those changes will entail. Going to wait and see what comes out before jumping to any conclusions. Personally think it would be a big loss to Saints if he was to leave. Not necessarily sure I agree with the Cortese is Saints chat, but I think he has been instrumental to our progress over the past few years, and will continue to be so in the immediate future. I certainly would not swap him for any other football chairman. I don't like or agree with everything he does, or the manner he does it in, but my word it is impossible to argue with his results or ambition. Would certainly be hoping he is here for the long-haul.
  14. Yeah, slow day at work. So, you have a time machine for one-night. You can use it to go see any band/musician any time, any place. Who would it be? And if you know of a specific gig/show which one would it be? For me, Nirvana at Reading Festival '92. Have watched/listened to it countless times. Never fails to give me goosebumps. Darn my only being 3 at the time! Any way, over to you folks.
  15. Can't agree with that pal.
  16. Alpine, despite all his protestations and "it's so hard being me, everyone abuses me" nonsense, is actually capable of being rather vile when he wants to be. There was an example of such in the last week or so.
  17. I couldn't see them overturning city at Wembley, but they did. I don't think it's likely, but who knows. Would like them to stay up, like Martinez, like the way he gets his team playing. Would have that in the league in front of an empty stadium over full houses at Stoke/West Ham and their breed of hoofball. Some will disagree, but hey, that's just my opinion.
  18. Is it any good? Haven't got round to it yet.
  19. Your wit is truly scathing. Why is that exactly. Have you kept up with any of Alpines predictions on here? He is wrong every time. So it's hardly infeasible to say that it is unlikely.
  20. Mate, you don't help yourself do you: "But for Hughton, who was born in the Forest Gate area, he goes back to the team in which he made 33 appearances for, helping them to promotion and an FA Cup semi-final along the way." http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hughton-set-warm-return-west-1421625 Born in England, played for Ireland. Let's face it, half of the Irish, Welsh, Scottish players are English, and just not good enough for England, so call on a great Auntie's Scottish dog to play.
  21. No, you really don't. The league is 38 games. So it is your performance across the entire 38 games that decides whether or not you are fit for the premier league. If you are not, you will finish in the bottom 3.
  22. Poor guy, it's such a shame. He was a really decent player, and by all accounts a decent guy. Great news that he is in remission now.
  23. Sooooooooooooo, Cold War Kids last night. I wasn't exactly buzzing for it, seeing as I had pretty much just got off a flight. But, it was really great. They sounded so good, so tight. Nathan Willett has such an usual, yet brilliant voice. Their new stuff sounded really good, will definitely be checking out the album. Hang Me Up to Dry was amazing. There is something so hypnotic, so captivating, almost mesmerising about a great bass line. From those first few notes that has you, and holds you for the next 3 minutes. Would definitely recommend.
  24. No justification needed. Comedy performances should count as gigs, musical or not. All are welcome here. Off to see Cold War Kids tonight. Booked this drunk months ago, and forgot entirely til the tickets flopped onto the doormat a couple of days ago. Had to change a flight back from Barcelona for this. Better be worth it. Loved their early stuff, haven't actually heard any of their last two albums. Could be interesting, they were pretty good when I saw them in a tent @ Reading years ago.
  25. I reckon he could do a job at LB. Shaw probably shouldn't be playing everygame at his age, so having someone else that is adequate at FB (Fox just isn't) might be a good thing. Who knows, maybe Jesus can do a job at LB too if needed? I definitely feel a decent versatile FB should be a priority this summer.
