What an interesting summer we are in for...

How stupid of you to look at the bigger picture! -
Errrm, correct me if I'm wrong (which I'm not), but we are closer in points, places & GD to 10th than 17th.
-
Prior to MP being appointed you were going on about how we won't stay up unless we beat some of the big teams? It's the same as last season, when people moaned about how we never beat any of the top teams, and only beat the bottom teams. Look how that turned out. It doesn't matter how you get the points, as long as you get them. All that matters is we have more points than 3 other teams. It's guaranteed that we will have more points than at least 2 teams, and in my opinion, extremely likely (actually that's not even opinion, statistics proof that it is indeed FACT that it is extremely likely) that we will finish with more points than one other additional team.

Rubber. A film about a killer tyre. Seriously. So bad it's kinda worth watching. That, or anything with Matthew McConnaghay or however you spell his name.

Was talking bout this song earlier for it, feel like I should hate myself for liking it, but I simply don't care. Star are Blind, by Paris Hilton. Will find a link later. On my phone on a train at the moment.

Congrats on entirely ignoring my post. Where did I mention points tallies? As has been said, previous seasons points tallies mean nothing. Liverpool and united have finished 2nd in recent years on points totals that would have won them the league it is irrelevant. How bout actually responding to my point. Just in case, this was, that given there is now only one place left which would see us relegated, and 5 teams between us and said spot. The likelihood of all these teams getting ahead of us in very very slim. I'm not saying impossible, but about as close as one can get to it. This is increased further by the fact that Villa & Wigan face each other on the last day, meaning they cannot both get 3 points that day.

In 1993 there were 22 teams, playing 42 games. Not really comparable. Nice try.
-
Well said that man. I can't understand the thinking of the people that think teams that have been struggling all season are suddenly going to win all their games. One team, maybe, but for us to go down 5 teams would need to have an upturn in form and overturn us. It isn't going to happen. Yes, yesterday we were awful. But as all the pampers posse always say after a win, it's just one game. All teams play crap and get battered now and then.

I'm just gonna say it. I heart Morgan.

I used to do a bit of coaching, not a great level, just local teams. The thing that frustrated me, is that parents of the kids were obsessed with their kids winning all the time. Not actually learning to play the game, or learning to be good technical players. From what I understand, in places such as spain, players are taught the techniques first, and rarely play 11 a side before they reach their teens. Instead playing on smaller pitches, with less players. This way they have much more time on the ball, and are taught how to control the ball. When we tried to get the kids we were training to do sessions where there no goals, and the ball was not allowed to leave the floor, we would have parents coming over and telling us we were clueless. I'm not saying this is 100% of the problem, but it does seem part of it at least. Would be interested to hear others thoughts too, as I say I didn't do a huge amount and what I did do was at a pretty low level.

It looks brilliant. Can only see that benefiting players, particularly young ones. Would also love to have a go on that myself!

Pochettino targets Champions League spot next season
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Cheers bud, you saved me looking this up myself. Anyone that knows anything about football knows what an incredible job Moyes has done at that club. Laughable argument, Everton are skint, he has basically had to fund every transfer he makes. He has had a few that haven't worked out, but they are far outweighed by those that do work. The amount of players he signs, gets the best out of, then sells for a profit is stunning. They rarely go on to do much better at their new clubs. Also think its testament to him that you very rarely here about players being unhappy at the club. -

Precisely. How can people not understand that it is not WHAT you spend, it is HOW you spend it. People say we spent our way to promotion, but in the Championship, teams like Leicester massively outspent us - where did that get them? Look at QPR for christ sake. They have spent an absolute fortune over the past two seasons, on transfers, agents, wages, changing managers and where has that got them? By contrast, Dortmunds team was assembled for a fraction of QPR's, QPR's wage bill is a fraction of Dortmunds, and no player in the BVB squad is on the same money as Samba. One team are dead cert's for relegation, the other have one foot in the Champions League. Or if you want an example closer to home, look at Liverpool & Everton. The gulf in net spends between those two clubs on transfers is huge, and despite this Everton are still sitting above them in the League. I'm not saying we will get into the Champions League next year, or even in the next couple of years. But I don't buy into this idea that it is simply impossible. Nor do I believe that simply money = success. It has to be spent well. I also don't see the problem in aiming as high as we can. F it, why not start the season aiming to win every game and win the league? Yeah, it probably won't happen, but fall short and you could still finish 8th, which I'd be pretty happy with. Aim for 17th and fall short, and you are looking at disaster. -

She's 20 now. That's fine. -
Barton still had to serve his ban before he could play at OM. He claims he is staying there as well. So I don't really see the two as all that similar.

So men and women who can't have children shouldn't be allowed to marry either? What if they are married, and before they have had a chance to have kids are then unable to? Should the marriage be annulled?

didn't this mysterious guy that say it was all linked to reloading powder, who is being used as 'proof', say that the bombs, and injuries were real?

They may have got a couple of decisions. But be fair to Bayern. They were brilliant. Feeling rather vindicated in tipping them to win the tournament a while back
-
Surprised there is no thread on this. Personally had bayern down as serious contenders prior to the Arsenal game. Watched tonight with some Catalan colleagues from our Barca office. Wow. Stunning performance. Barca fans left open mouthed. Been a long time since they have been done like that. FWIW, they were also extremely complimentary about MP and his time in charge of Espanyol. They seem to have a high opinion of him.
