  1. Right, so Christopher Walken has just done a full sing-a-long and dance routine to Delilah. Huh.
  2. So, is anyone seeing this Romance and Cigarettes? It's just bonkers. Half the Sopranos cast (well, about 3 - Tony, His sister and Steve buscemi), Susan Sarandon as his wife, Eddie Izzard as a singing vicar, Kate winslett as his mistress. The chick from weeds as his daughter. His sister in Sopranos is his daughter. As is Mandy Moore. Now Christopher Walken has just showed up. Oh and it's a musical. James Gandolfini has been dancing around singing cabaret. What?
  3. Gave it two goes, got Chico Flores and Bradley Johnson. I look like neither of these people
  4. And 7 points. Oh how I wish we were more like Wigan. Alpine_Troll is boring.
  5. Balls. Oh well, might get to go to the playoffs at least I guess.
  6. Watford for me. I live pretty close, have been to Vicarage Rd a few times this year. Plus, I would love to have Zola back in the Prem.
  7. Surprised how long it took Lampard to get a mention on here. Not the guys biggest fan (I live in West London so most of my mates are Chelsea fans - meaning I have an irrational hatred of all things Chelsea), but he is some player. I do he he gets the record before he leaves. Also, how people can't rate Rio is bonkers. He's been brilliant this season, and at his peak, he was amongst the best on the planet. '02 World Cup he was brilliant. Again, not the most likeable of characters, but he was some player. West Ham do churn out some players that's f'sure.
  8. There's some really great stuff kicking about at the moment. I made a huge spotify playlist of just random new bands, and managed to stumble across some great stuff. I saw Peace last week, they were amazing. They had a band called superfood who were supporting. Well worth checking out. Also, Peace's friends from Brumtown Swim Deep, are brilliant. Seeing them in a few weeks, cannot wait. I'd also really recommend Childhood, who are mates with Palma Violets. They were supporting Palmas in Brixton a few weeks back, and I was really impressed. I'm not sure if they are playing Glasto (I'm bitter at not going so haven't properly checked the lineup) but if they are I'd give them a go, me and my mate both really thought they would be a great festival act. If you're interested I'll share that playlist, there's some dodgy stuff in there, but I basically just added a load of stuff for whilst I'm travelling about with work, which I seem to be doing loads at the moment. Dune Rats are a particular highlight thus far.
  9. Great thread Pap. Really interesting reading everyone's choices. Some crackers in there. I think it's a bit different for me, I'm really lucky to have a mum with great taste in music. A punk in her youth, but also with really diverse taste in music. She still asks me for new stuff to listen to, and we go to gigs together still, some may sneer at a 24 year old doing this, but I love it. For me, All Mod Cons - The Jam. I grew up listening to this album, dancing around the living room to Mr. Clean & A Bomb in Wardour Street with my mum are some of my earliest and happiest memories. I still love Weller 20 years later, the mother and I rarely miss him when he plays in London, I love the anger and angst and the sort of call to arms in his younger days. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me - The Cure. The first Cure album I really remember hearing, again it was my mum's and I've been obsessed ever since. It bugs me the stick Robert Smith gets for being miserable and morose, he's actually just a soppy old sod, usually singing about his wife. Discovery - Daft Punk my introduction to electronic music, what an album, frothing at the mouth for Random Access Memories. A genre I have dipped in and out of, but been coming back to of late. So much love for people like The Chemical Brothers (them at the Warehouse Project in Manchester is probably in my top 5 nights of my life), Fat Boy Slim and many others. Been listening to a lot of Electro/Indie recently (Scandanavians are incredible at this genre) and I think I can trace that all back to this incredible album. Who can hear One More Time and not want to dance and scream along at the top of your lungs? In Utero - Nirvana. I was an angsty teen, who wasn't? Kurtz Cobain may have been dead just under 10 years by the time I was a teen, but my Christ did hearing this for the first time make every hair on my body stand on end. It was incredible, it was loud, and angry in a way I hadn't experienced previously. It was like punk for me, in the way that grunge had something of a DIY feel to it, Nirvana rent the most accomplished musicians but the energy in their sound was staggering. Still a big grunge fan to this day, Pearl Jam & Smashing Pumpkins at Reading remain some of my favourite live experiences - what I would give to get in a time machine and go to Reading '92. Sorry, this kinda turned into an essay, there are countless others, notably Funeral - Arcade Fire, Stories from the City, Stories from The Sea - PJ Harvey, Whatever people say I am... - Arctics & 2001 - Dr. Dre. Thanks for sharing guys, really enjoyed reading all your choices.
  10. Human Dry cleaning. Being wet & hungover is just the worst combination.
  11. Went to see Peace @ Birthdays in HipsterVille (Dalston) last night. Crap venue, my head was basically touching the ceiling - well the vent pipe at least, and the stage was so small that you could hardly see the band. The support act were Superfood, who were pretty enjoyable. I don't really know too much about them, but they have some good songs and their sound was surprisingly good considering how small they are and the venue. Peace were absolutely brilliant. Tore the place to pieces. Fans of 90's music may enjoy them, as they are littered with 90's references of such diverse backgrounds - instantly recognisable are bits of Blur, The Charlatans, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins. They also do a pretty brilliant version of Binary Finary's 1998, which is a full 10 mins long, and sound brilliant live.
  12. I like Patrick Herrmann at Gladbach. Realistic? Probably not. But, what's the point in realistic dreams?
  13. A centre-back for me. Chuck some money at it. I don't really know who is about/available that would fit the bill. There doesn't seem a great deal about in general at the minute. Anyway, that's what scouts are for. Perhaps someone like Astori?
  14. And Ben Haim
  15. So, does this suggest that it is endemic of Saints that our transfer windows are 'Cluster F***s' as someone put it? Or, is it perhaps more likely how the transfer window works?
  16. The thing is, all of my above post, ignores the fact that for us to be relegated, 4 other teams, in addition to Wigan need to out perform us. And that is made EVEN harder by the fact that Villa & Wigan play each other on the last day.
  17. It is a fact, that the busiest day of the window is the last. Why is that?
  18. What single day is the busiest in 99% of transfer windows?
  19. I still don't get the rationale of people who think we are going down. I keep trying to put this in different ways to show how odd it is. Let me try again. Wigan would need to amass at least 8-9 points, given their goal difference. With 4 Games left for them to play thats around 2 - 2.25 points per game, or over double the 0.94 points per game that have averaged this season so far. Or, they have won 8 games of 34, or 1 win every 4.25 games. Hardly suggests they are likely to win 3 of their last 4 games. I like Wigan, they are quite well run and Martinez seems like a decent guy, that tries to get them playing football. But, the chances of them finishing with more points than us is infinitesimal. Sorry lad, you might as well have eaten that £10.
  20. Well, now I'm even more confused, are Turkish and I in agreement? Fair post though. I agree in general with what you have said.
  21. Mr Peach just Retweeted this: @IJTaylor81 3m Story on @OfficialQPR soon, confirming Harry Redknapp will be staying on as #QPR manager. @tonyfernandes confirmed to us this afternoon #QPR
  22. I love that last seasons 'awful' acquisitions include: - Clyne, who looks an absolute bargain at c.£2m. Would be looking at close to 5 times that if we were to sell him on. - Yoshi, who again looks something of a bargain. Would much prefer him to Scott Dann for the £6m mooted or even Samba for £12m + £100k p/w. I don't get why people rate Samba so highly. He is huge, that is about it. Last season he was at Blackburn, how did they end up doing? Now he is at QPR, and look how well they have done. - Davis for £800k - quite simply a steal. - J-Rod, looks class. Being touted for a possible England call-up and linked with a move to Liverpool not all that long ago. This whole, everything needs to be done by July 1st is just an absolute nonsense. I keep trying to make the point to Alpine_Troll, but for some reason he always ignores it, that why does he think the last week of the Transfer Window is always the busiest? These deals, involving huge sums of money, and a number of stakeholders wanting to ensure they get their piece of the pie take time. It isn't just us. It is the way the market works. If Saints were the only team signing players towards the end of the window I would be more inclined to share his worries. But anyone with half a brain cell, and an ability to look at the bigger picture can see this is not the case.
  23. Can someone help me out please. I'm a tad confused. From what I can see, is that anyone who thinks 10th place is a possibility - they are deluded and should be sneered at. The reason for this is because we are in serious danger of relegation, and according to some are going down. The reason 10th place cannot happen is because we are 3 places from 10th, 3 points behind and have a worse goal difference of 2. The reason we will go down, or are still very much likely to. Is because we are 5 places from 18th, 7 points ahead, with a superior GD of 13. Am I alone in not understanding this logic? Personally, I do not think we will finish 10th, but I am more certain we will not get relegated. Is finishing somewhere between 17th and 10th so bad? Wouldn't most of us have taken that at the start of the season? Probably even more so after the first 10/11 games?
  24. What evidence is this? That we are closer to finishing in the top half at present than we are getting relegated? Or that you are throwing another characteristic hissy-fit, about nothing? Tell me, how did your prediction (mid-october), that Saints would be cut too far adrift by January to make any difference in the transfer window? Not that it was actually necessary in the end. Also, if the club are so bad at recruiting, how is it this 'squad largely assembled in League 1' occurred? Magic? Luck? Coincidence? Or were the players signed? Alpine_Troll is boring.
