A large part of quality is consistency. Anyone can hit a wonder strike once, doing it over and over and over is what separates the pros from the plebs. Ok, it's certainly a lot more complex than that, and there are some things that yes, only the very best can do. This is why we love cup competitions so much. Ultimately, the best team wins the league. Over 38 games, the team at the top is there because they are the best, earning the most points over the course of the season, playing every team home and away. Cup competitions allow teams that aren't able to sustain performance over 38 games a chance to win something by raising their game for 7 games.

Smoking Cannabis "could help prevent diabetes"
KelvinsRightGlove replied to KelvinsRightGlove's topic in The Lounge
Time to introduce medical marijuana in the UK? Or maybe time for me to move to California? -
http://metro.co.uk/2013/05/15/cannabis-could-combat-diabetes-study-shows-3759797/?ITO=facebook Apparently I am high-risk, due to family history. Does this mean I have an excuse to get stoned lots now?

Teams that do it week-in week-out win the league, even then, they still have bad days. Under Hoddle and Strachan there were good performances and bad. Goes for all clubs, managers and players.

Loic Remy arrested on suspicion of rape

Yup Yeah, I don't disagree. But just shows how shambolically run that mob are. And to think people moan about how we are run. -
Cultural differences spreading further south
KelvinsRightGlove replied to holepuncture's topic in The Lounge
I'm not necessarily sure where I quite stand on it. I don't wish to be judgemental of other cultures, but frankly, when it comes to women's rights and equality, Eastern cultures are archaic. It cannot simply be due to this alone though. There are, and have been millions of people that have moved to this part of the world from these backgrounds. The majority of which are valuable members of society, integrated, bringing aspects of their culture and heritage and enriching ours as a result. I have grown up in, and still live in London, I genuinely believe it is one of the most incredible cities on this planet, and that is largely thanks to it welcoming all comers, and embracing the cultures and traits they bring with them. I agree in part with what Pap said. Holding on to, and trying to implement one's heritage blindly, in another culture can lead to them/us scenarios, which are detrimental to themselves and others around them. I also agree that racism is rife, within these cultures and something of a bizarre hybrid of inferiority/superiority complex occurs. It's sad when group of people with similar cultures form a pack mentality, and close themselves off from the societies/cultures that they find themselves surrounded by. In my opinion this will only ever lead to heightened tensions, and mistrust between clashing cultures. I think this leads to some of the riots you see in places like Bradford, and subsequently allows vile people like Nick Griffin and the BNP to exploit this. The answer is not to segregate and separate, but to integrate. I don't like the hard-line approach some take of "they come here they should live like us etc", but I do think to a certain extent, you have to at least appreciate the culture you inhabit. You can be damned sure if westerns were to settle in some of these places and impose their values, they would no be granted any leniency in doing so. These acts are vile, and disgusting, these men deserve the harshest punishments possible. They show a callous lack of respect for both women, and children. Cases like this make me question my own stance on capital punishment. It is very easy to be swayed by calls for chemical castration etc in cases like this, not that I agree with this, but can sympathise with those that argue it - I also imagine this would increase were I to have children, particularly girls of my own. The biggest thing I believe is education. We should endeavour not to demonise an entire race/culture, but seek to improve attitudes towards women. These acts need to stop, whoever commits thm -
Loic Remy arrested on suspicion of rape
KelvinsRightGlove replied to KelvinsRightGlove's topic in General Sports
Talking of shamblesville, Barton wants to be allowed to leave on a free, having had the majority of his wages paid by QPR whilst out on loan this season. They really are a joke. -
According to our old mate Tancredi Palmeri on twitter Tancredi Palmeri @tancredipalmeri now JUST IN: QPR's Loic Remy arrested on suspicion of rape

She went on Kitchen Nightmares, she's clearly an attention hungry media whore. Dozy bint. I haven't watched the video yet. -
It isn't though.

You were saying in March we were going down.

Not to belittle what is a decent gesture, and good on Luke for doing it. There does seem to be a trend of this on twitter. There have been a few examples of this in recent months. All for it personally. Good on all the players that do it, yes it's easy for them, but they aren't obliged to.

Said all season we'll be safe, even when times were hard. As much as the pampers posse sneer at "the clappers" for being deluded and foolish, they have yet again been proven wrong. I just cannot believe the almighty Wigan, best team in the league a week or so ago, with all their balls and heart and guts have gone down. Shocking.
-
I've said this before, I'll say it again. Last season Samba played for Blackburn, who leaked goals and were relegated. This season he played for QPR, who leaked goals and were relegated. Sounds like the CV of a top drawer player to me. Plus, he is on £100k p/w. No ta.

Just bagged a last minute ticket to see The Strypes tonight at the 100 Club! Awesome!

I think Pochettino doesn't rate Fonte as highly. Seems to prefer Jos who, much as I like the guy, really needs to move. Would like to see us add some real quality here. For me, ideal scenario would be a 'marquee'-type signing at CB ready to go, in addition to a very good young CB, who can do a job if required. But I doubt that will happen, so it's irrelevant, as all this is to the thread

Saints players going into management

Racist. -
Twice today. Dunno if I'll bother again. Harsh perhaps, but is just so far from what you want from a Daft Punk album. It's slow, dull, lacking the signature electro beats, the robot voices, worst of all - it just isn't dancey (Get Lucky aside). Have you listened?
-
G'warn lads! Agree with Alpine above (twice in a day, blimey!) couple of decent quality CBs (potentially Forren - I'm reserving judgement until I see him) and defence should look pretty solid. Would love to really break the bank and go all out for a really top, top CB. Any way I digress, good on the boys, their performances this season fully warrant selection. Not long until they are in the full squad I would imagine, if they keep up their current form. Shaw looked immense from the bits I saw on sunday.

Neither is Pardew, it's quite obvious what I meant.

Markus Liebherr stated very early on he would not have bought Southampton without Cortese. So that, I can state is fact. The rest, speculative perhaps, but how likely is it that another owner, possibly with someone else running the club would have then picked the same managers, made the same signings etc. Does that seem likely to you?
