I really cannot imagine a team like Arsenal (or Liverpool) signing players on the basis of one performance. Especially when spending £16/20m. There'll have been people watching their games, if not just the manager. Considering Arsene's love of our academy, he's probably had tabs on Chambers for a few years (I can't imagine many players who get into our first XI come as a surprise to many Prem clubs, they'll be aware of them, especially given the reputation of our set up). There was also talk of Liverpool tracking Lovren (amongst several other Premier League clubs) before he came to us.

These points are key for me. At his age, at that price he was never going to be a world beater. He's effective, albeit limited. But he is a grafter, and doesn't shy away when things aren't going his way. He doe a good job at bringing others into play, and I can't imagine there are many defenders who will enjoy going up against him for 90 mins. Seems a likeable chap to boot. Happy with his signing, though think we could do with a supplementary strike also.

Early days yet. I missed the Everton game, so yday was my first real viewing of Reed. I thought he was a little quiet, but did a decent enough job. Would be unfair for me to make any judgements on the lad yet. Though, hopefully he will come through, as I do think Morgan will be off in the summer, and replacing him will be one heck of a job. That said, we didn't really miss him yday - which is encouraging.

Never a fan of the man, but no doubting what a fantastically good player he was. I never saw Dalglish, but I'd argue Gerrard had a harder time due to not being in a team as strong as Kenny. Gerrard dragged Liverpool along almost single handedly for severely years. Dug them out of several holes. Phenomenal player, there's an awful part of me that wants him to do a Lampard, and win the Prem that way. Mostly for the scouse tears. Because I'm awful.

Whilst that's true, there's a difference between form and quality. There was a fair bit of, "he's useless", "awful signing" and "waste of money" as opposed to "he's out of form", "needs a bit of luck", "will get firing after a goal etc".

Pleased for the guy. Seems a decent chap, has stepped in and performed very well when called upon this season. Good to have blokes like that in the squad.
