  1. Hampshire cricket have also done this for years, "The Golden Gamble", very popular it is too as the proceeds go to Hampshire youth cricket development. I'll happily be ripped off every home game for a couple of quid, the one at the Rosebowl pays out a fair wedge every time.
  2. I haven't seen this posted on here yet, sorry if it has. From Saints Twitter feed; "Dean Richards Tribute Shirt Available. Proceeds raised donated to St. Gemma's Hospice in Leeds. Full story -> http://bit.ly/h3XYY8 #saintsfc" Current bid for the Saints shirt £65.
  3. One of the best goals I've ever seen was by Nick Holmes at the Dell in the League cup (?) first leg against Watford (?) their keeper cleared the ball and Holmes hit hit back, on the volley from around the half way line, straight into the back of the net, we won 4-0 I think (although we lost the second leg 7-1 with Shilton in goal). This is how I remember it but years (and years of alcohol) have probably played havoc with the little grey cells.
  4. So either the Liebherr family OR Cortese (the people involved) told your friend this then? I find that hard to believe.
  5. I believe Colin (Dr Frankenstein) Clive was a descendant of his.
  6. I go back far enough for John Milkins testimonial in, I think, 1969 at Krap Nottarf Sh!tcity 0 Saints 7 with an absolute beauty from Brian O'Neil thrown in for good measure.
  7. According to Gordon Simpson on Twitter the scorers were, Holder-Spooner (29), Harlee Dean (41), Scott Shutton (pen 62) and Lloyd Isgrove (80). Superb individual goal.
  8. If people are too infirm to walk too far they can always get a disabled badge from their doctor, my dad has one (in his 80's and a bit iffy on his pins but not disabled as such), you can park pretty much anywhere then, within reason.
  9. Although I agree to a certain extent, as someone with a few years under his belt one of my all time favourite players is Brian O'Neil and is, in my book, a legend. Claus, I agree, is not.
  10. Lies, damned lies and statistics? I've seen Corky bowl a couple of times this season and he has lost the plot. Just my opinion of what I've seen.
  11. No Lumb according to Cricinfo; http://www.cricinfo.com/countycricket2010/engine/current/match/435425.html Corky still gets in though, we must be very short of bowlers.
  12. From Solents Twitterfeed; match at Rosebowl due to start at 4:10PM - 24 overs a side. Herath set to start for Royals, as is Kabeer Ali
  13. Never mind Sheff Wed, life's great in L1, lots of wins, lots of goals & you get to win a trophy!
  14. There used to be a Saints fan that used to use the Golden Ball, can't remember his name but he was a regular contributor to saintslist but haven't heard of him lately. The pub is well worth a visit anyway and if you wear Saints gear someone may well remember him.
  15. I haven't been following this thread, I do have a life as well as a season ticket, but I had to respond to this. Reasonable job? Are you joking? 5th round of the FA cup, knocked out by a prem club (a sh1te one I'll grant you, but still a prem club). Knocked out of the League cup by another prem club. Won the other cup we were in (I enjoyed my day at Wembley, did you?). Two 5 goal games on the trot, something I have never seen before in over 40 years of supporting Saints. And, to cap it all, a top 10 finish in the league when at the start of the season most sensible fans were just hoping to not get relegated. Some people are so hard to please.
  16. But didn't we win a cup in the period you're talking about? We've also played in a lot of other cup games in the period we're talking about. 5th round of the FA cup, JPT winners (did you enjoy the trip to Wembley? I did) and a top 10 finish in the league, what a fantastic season it's been, thanks Mr Pardew (and others, of course).
  17. If you can't wait until the 2nd of April, I've had ITV HD on Sky for a while now; http://www.tellytoad.com/page/itv-hd-on-sky-hd.aspx The main disadvantage with this is that you can't sky+ or pause and re-wind but at least it's better than sd.
  18. As others have pointed out it's probably closer to 5 years you've had on top, we were the top club on the south coast for over 40 years, going back to the early 60's.
  19. HMRC have already stated if they had their way they would be wound up, unfortunately it's not up to them, it's up to a judge if it goes that far.
  20. There isn't a better, or more loyal, keeper in League 1. His only real weakness is coming for corners but this isn't his fault, it's Pardews. Getting 11 men in the box, plus the opposition, gives him no real chance to come out and claim the ball with any real certainty. Keep 2 men up on the half way line (yesterday Papa and Antonio) and let your defenders defend, then KD can collect the ball more easily and get an attack going with 2 quick targets.
  21. Fan power? What, the 14 or 15,000 that turned up for the vital 6 pointer against Sunderland? The only saving grace is that the PL doesn't want a PL club to go bust, that's the only thing that'll save them, apart from some half-witted multi millionaire coming to the rescue who would've already come out of the woodwork if he/she existed.
  22. How has this thread degenerated into a pointless slanging match about Lowe/St Marys/Stoneham. Can we get back to laughing our ar$es off at Sh!t City please?
  23. No wonder you never see a skint bookie!

    Murty

I saw the incident on BBC south at lunchtime, definitely an accident, and where the Echo got Carr AND Bowyer from I'll never know, it was Murty diving in on Carr to block the shot that caused the accident.
