From this forum I can understand that an SFC keeper was behind the financial meltdown of 2008.

The only thing in see in Gazza's or other recent back 4 mistakes that makes me think about Jos and Kelvin is that they weren't there to make them. They are not the answer.

Love how the press doesn't even care about who Gazzaniga is and where he came from. Interesting... Of course, if it were Butland, Hart or any other english keeper, people would be crying for everyone to give them time and opportunities, because they will make Yashin look like a turd... and all because they have the Bulldog spirit innit! :roll eyes: It happened to De Gea last season...if only the press had been as demanding with this generation of English football (which brought us Fatty Lampard, Hairy Rooney, Nasty Terry, Flashy Becks, Ash-brain Cole, Sol "botox fetiche" Campbell, the calamity duo of Championship keepers James and Mrs.Robinson and is now nurturing two League One strikers in Porridge and Well-backed) maybe the national team would not be the joke it has become.

This. End of. Hate how knee-jerk the world has become.

Ahhh the great standard English promise. Yes, he's the great one.... Of course none of the the super-duper fans we have saw his super spill to the bar the other night against Wolves that led to their goal, but hey, surely no bias in that....

The Champions League dream could get a little bit more realistic
melmacian_saint replied to The Kraken's topic in The Saints
They should go back to the old UEFA cup knockout format! If each main round was worth say minimum 3-4 million pounds clubs would actually give a fuss and TV rights would account for more money because there are less games! Having said this, it will only be a couple of years before they decide that no one gives a turd about the UCL group stages either and proceed to create a closed, invite-only European Super League. Football has been destroyed, no one seems to care about anything any more. I still remember when games on live TV were a reason for crowds to fill up stadiums instead of an excuse to stay home! -
So are we Real Madrid now? Could definitely challenge Puncheon.

I think most will have got a little rise based on last year's participation. Regular starters last year probably have had their wages aligned with the PL now though. Also I can see Butterfield retiring at the end of the season after cashing-in on some PL money.

'ex saints and england legend' persona non grata

Muppet show. Some posters should've never been allowed to even see a web page. -
From the current first team I could see Jos, Fox and Chaplow moving out at least on loan deals. I think Guly will stick around until the end of the season and Forte/Dickson will train until their contracts run out...

Such a feel good/look forward song.

To be honest I think in January a LB and a back-up to Fonte/Yoshida (a la Davis with Cork/Schneiderlin) are probably the only things we should get. They are striking a good partnership and seem to be fully up to the task. After all the mess that's been on at the back, I think we ought to be conservative about our approach to the market.
-
Not arguing that, actually really rate him. But at least a short, collective mention to our back 5 would've been appropriate.

Lino doing the Itchen in the 2nd half looked lost during 3 or 4 minutes...couldn't get one right, sometimes not even make up his mind.

Gazza comes up with the save of the week and all the focus (even from an ex-keeper such as big Schmeichel) goes to Tim Krul gets all the attention. FUU

Poll: Is liking the chairman important to you?

No. -
Portuguese and happy to be so. Even happier to be living in England, unlike most people I actually really like it here.

Who's going to start in goal on sunday
melmacian_saint replied to rickylambert's topic in The Saints
I really don't know why Gazza shaved his hair. At least shave it completely! One of my female housemates fell in love with him when we watched the West Brom game on Sky. Reckon she won't be so in love with him now That said, I do back Gazza. But to be fair I agree that he should be getting a loan out in the Championship now or be more involved with the development squad. -
Best Saints Sponsor/Commercial Partner?

I quite like aap to be fair. -
I don't think I have ever seen a city have such a negative attitude to its club's return to the Premier League. Very annoying and you just wonder if the population of Southampton has any pride in its city at all. Certainly not when it comes to Saints...

Am I the only one that thinks the team and Davis himself back Gazza a lot? From the warm-ups I've seen at SMS they always have a personal chat and I've seen that players are generally supportive of him during the game. It also strikes that he has a good influence on the team, with the back four being in good shape with him in goal. Maybe Adkins realises this (and was a GK himself so he's got to know something) and has decided to invest in him. If you think Butland or Hart haven't and won't make these mistakes you are deluded. Unless of course there's some prejudice in your minds...

Our best defensive performances pre-Cork were Fulham (where Hooiveld went bonkers otherwise the other 3 were at a good level, especially Fonte) and Aston Villa-both with Gazza in goal. The defense feel less pressure with him there and I honestly feel he's a good influence on the team that is out on the pitch. Also would Gary the commentator (who yesterday sounded like his wife had cheated on him by his angry comments at virtually everyone on the pitch) have had such sour words for Hart's poor display in Sweden/Poland? The way Gazza is being pounded by some pundits suggests there is a bit of a hidden agenda around, just like there was with De Gea initially. I'm sure they would have been all supportive if Butland had been out doing those mistakes. I think most and probably the coaching staff thought Gazza would be more involved with the reserves at the beginning of the season. The fact that he's stayed as our starting keeper must mean something other than lack of options. I have not seen however one mistake from him that indicates he's not good enough. Just inexperienced mistakes, probably from the anxiety and pressure of at 20 years of age being in goal for the worst ever initial defensive record in the PL, which is big when you come from the Priestfield Stadium. Hopefully he'll have picked up some confidence from the win and the overall optimism of the squad. I would keep him in goal.

What do you guys know about goalkeeping? What does the sky commentator who looks like his wife cheated on him by the mood he's had all game know about it? Will gladly wait for the "bring Gazza back" shouts when Boruc comes back to throw bottles at the fans. If only clear-ups could be done on this forum....
