Yes De Bruyne has played in the CL and Mane will in the future, De Bruyne played for Genk until 2012 so he is not homegrown and who's to say Mane won't be like this all season and be one of the standout performers (in England only those who play for the media favoured teams win POTY, Germans are a bit more open minded). Mane is tearing up defences, he is fast, he's creative, he plays for the team, he is scoring goals. That's a player who commands a very high fee yes?

I would suggest the financial position of the club is now much stronger and as we enter the next phase of the TV deal, we will be able to hold on to star players unless we are offered stupid money when it is a better decision to move them on and develop the squad. Signs on Saturday were good in that the team is beginning to understand each other and we still have players to return (Clasie and FF) although this will be offset by other injuries. Then the young players will need to step up their levels to get in the team, which is no bad thing at all.

Plenty of experts have said it, and it is perceptible to fans. Name the last player who Arsenal signed who actually improved as a player beyond just getting older and stronger? And then you have the answer. He is a great manager but developing players is not at all a strength, and players who go there, or any top club really should have done most of their growing as players before they arrive. All the Saints players who went to Arsenal would very likely be better players than they are now had they stayed with us for longer instead of being lured by more money and the glamour of 'training' with better players.
