  1. Apparently the National Service idea is not a firm commitment. According to Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP, should they win the election they will institute a Royal Commission to determine whether it is a viable concept, whilst a small scale pilot is carried out.

  4. David Lammy, obviously chasing the gammon vote in Tottenham.
  5. They said on the commentary that he has the best strike rate of any Hants spinner for decades.
  6. Which makes more money ? Finish second in the Championship or finish fourth and play 3 extra games including a sell-out final at Wembley ?
  7. Hampshire have just beaten Surrey by an innings and plenty.
  8. Given the number of goals we have conceded this season, that was an immense defensive performance.
  9. Ben Brown becomes the third Hampshire centurion, can Liam Dawson make it 4 ?
  10. "Big Society" 2.0
  11. Astrology is bunkum. If you ever have Mercury rising in Uranus you are in big trouble.
  12. I will wait to see (1) which division we are playing in, and (2) what happens up to the close of the transfer window.
  13. If we win tomorrow I will be quite happy to have been proved wrong in predicting we wouldn't go up this season.
  14. 393 runs in the day. Presumably we plan on batting beyond lunch tomorrow, weather permitting, and Brown gets plenty more than the 1 he needs for his ton.
  15. Going up the last climb, approaching a soigneur on his right with a fresh bidon, Pog had a young lad running alongside him on his left - he took the bottle in his right hand, switched it to his left, and handed it straight to the boy. 2 or 3 Grand Tours with the Worlds and Olympics in the same year is one heck of an ask.
  16. Every cloud, and all that......... A United win knocks Newcastle out of European competition next season.
  17. 100 for Toby Albert..
  18. BBC headline ; "Family opens their back garden to 50,000 festival goers."' Reality ; farm clears 3 fields for music festival.
  19. Teresa May ended her last speech in the Commons by saying that there are too many people standing for Parliament now who are only thinking "'What's in it for me. ?".
  20. Sunak in Wales asked if the workers he was visiting were looking forward to the Euros..........
  21. There are certain things the enquiry are not covering or querying as they either fall foul of Parliamentary Privilege, ( ie things said or omitted at, or lying to, the Select Committee, which should be picked up by the Committee after the enquiry report is published and if necessary referred on for legal sanction ), or run the risk of self incrimination, ( once the report is published it is likely that parts will be picked up by the Police ). Notwithstanding, Gareth Jenkins is almost certainly looking at prosecution for perjury, as it seems clear his evidence in the trials of SPMs was untruthful. There may also be action taken against PO legal officers who knowingly withheld evidence that might have been useful to the defence in Court. ( Some of the above is my interpretation and educated guesswork ). It is interesting that one of the former senior IT staff at the PO seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth, the enquiry has been unable to detect any trace of him - Sir Wyn Williams even asked Paula Vennels if she had had any contact with the missing man since 2016. She said she had not.
  22. There is a picture on the BBC from New Road Worcester where they are trying to deal with a damp patch on the outfield by digging squares out of the turf and drying them under heat lamps.
