According to the Home Office less than 50 thousand have crossed the channel in small boats in the last 12 months, that is at best less than 5% of immigration into the country over that period. If immigration is really a problem, they are 'fixing' the wrong thing.

In the last few years, excluding Ukrainians fleeing the war, the 3 largest nationality groups of immigrants are Indians, Pakistanis, and Poles, none of which groups cross the channel on small boats, all of whom are legally entering the country. How many times under the Tories have we had "the solution" to immigration, only for it not to deliver and have to be returned to the drawing board ? Just watched the whole John Stewart program. At the end of the interview with the Oklahoma Senator he asks "Does training with guns make you safer ?", to which the Senator replies "Yes". JS then aks "And you would remove that as mandsatory ?", "Yes". "So you are making us less safe ?", "No". JS concludes with "Are you familiar with logic ?". Earlier in the show they say that in States that reduce controls on gun ownership the rate of per capita gun deaths increases, including the rate of civilians shot by Law Enforcement. The NI agreement only covers goods, not the other 3 Freedoms of the SM, and only applies to goods originating in the 6 counties. However, the Common Travel Agreement between the UK and Ireland, which predates both countries' membership of the EU, is still in affect, so there is free movement for people across the border, provided UK citizens are not travelling forward to other EU member states, or EU citizens traveling to the UK via Ireland.
