The Ukrainians have been fighting a Russian backed insurrection since 2014, aiming to re-establish control over their internationally acknowledged sovereign territory. Ukraine has not shown or voiced any intent to prevent the use of the Russian language, or to deny people the right to identify as being of Russian descent. ( And the 15k figure is the total of casualties on both sides; nearly 11k are military casualties, and it also includes the 298 dead from the downing of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 ). On the other hand, Putin's SMO is directly aimed at eradicating the Ukrainian state, national identity, and ability to continue to function as an emerging modern democracy.

That only works as an anti-tank obstacle, and even then it isn't wide enough. Infantry trenches zig zag and dog-leg, to reduce the effect of blast waves travelling along them.

Vaccines almost certainly do not provide 100% prevention of onward transmission within the population. This is due to the fact that everybody's immune systems will respond to the virus and vaccine slightly differently. It was always the case, based on experience with previous vaccination programs that in a significant proportion of the population, vaccination would prevent transmission, in most others it would reduce it, and in a few, whilst preventing the infection from developing fully, would not impact transmissibility very much. The best 'defence' was always to wear a mask.

I disagree, the Russians correctly identified the strategically inportant, and logistically critical, children's playground and successfully detroyed both the swings AND the roundabouts. Thankfully, the slide was unloaded, so there were no secondary explosions.
