Another bloody "diversion"; sign at one end of a mile long road sending you three miles out of your way, a similar sign if spproaching from the other end. NOTHING going on between the signs, the road is pefectly passable, but the buses have to follow the 'diversion', missing out 4 stops.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

All politicians are corrupt, it's just a matter of how relatively corrupt they are, both at national and local levels. For some it's using their 'profile' for a minor advantage or "Do you know who I am ?", for others it's millions of pounds in fake PPE contracts. FWIW I don't think this current Government are anywhere near as bad as the last lot, but I think they get progressively more greedy the longer they are in power - hence Boris' Tories. -
As one of the comments says, not sure this is the best way to rescue living hostages.

For those who can remember it, it's probably more like Leonid Breznhev in Whoops Apocalypse, with new clones of the leader being rolled out as needed.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. -
The Trump administration has "liberated" a number of US citizens it says were being held illegally in jail in Venezuela, as part of a three way swap repatriating Venezuelans from El Salvador. One of those freed to the US is a man with dual US/Venezuelan citizenship who had fled to Venezuela from Spain where he had brutally murdered 3 people in a lawyer's office then set light to the office. Rather than extradite him back to Spain the Venezuelans opted to try him in Venezuela: he was convicted and had served just 1 year of his 30 year sentence before being "rescued" and is now free to walk the streets of the USofA.
