"The US Supreme Court has ordered the Trump administration to pause the deportation of a group of accused Venezuelan gang members. A civil liberties group is suing the administration over planned deportations of Venezuelans detained in north Texas under an 18th-century wartime law. On Saturday, the Supreme Court ordered the government to "not remove any member of the putative class of detainees from the United States until further order of this Court"." "The Supreme Court initially ruled on 8 April that Trump could use the Alien Enemies Act to deport alleged gang members, but deportees must be given a chance to challenge their removal. Because the resolution included mention of Russia as the aggressor in Ukraine, the United States voted against the resolution.
