The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
badgerx16 replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Given the OBR's pre-budget cock up, some might be inclined to retort " He would say that, wouldn't he". -
The vast majority of cases in the CJS never get near a Court or jury.

Nobody denies the existence of the "far right". People take issue with how readily you apply the epiphet to those who disagree with you.

What would Plato make of someone who uses a computer to summarise his works ?

GOOGLE AI's response to "Can I trust ChatGPT"; "You can trust ChatGPT as a tool for brainstorming and getting general information, but not as a definitive source for critical facts, professional advice, or sensitive data. Its responses can contain "hallucinations" (false information), inaccuracies, and biases, and it can misinterpret data or generate flawed code. Therefore, always critically evaluate its outputs and verify information with reliable sources, especially for topics like legal, financial, or medical matters. " Also, read this... https://www.deficambridge.org/should-we-trust-chatgpt/ It is a tool; it can provide useful summaries and collations of information, but can also come up with incorrect assumptions, and even create totally fictitious sources. It should never be relied on in isolation, or as being definitively trustworthy. As I said, if you use AI as a fount of wisdom, you are a fool. Edit; Even ChatGPT admits it is fallible; "That's a good question! Trust is important when using any technology. While I strive to provide accurate, helpful, and unbiased information, it's important to keep in mind that: I’m not infallible – I rely on the data I was trained on, which means sometimes I might not have the most up-to-date info or might make mistakes."

If there are shortages of Judges Barristers, and Magistrates, and a lack of resource within the CPS how do the changes help ?
-
You don't have to. The prosecution have to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that you are guilty.

ChatGPT is a series of algorithms and sequences of computer coding, it is not 'intelligence'. Like all such AI ChatBots it is prone to mistakes, misreadings, and sometimes the generation of total random bullshit. Anybody who uses such facilities as a fount of wisdom is a fool..

No. There are degrees of self-interest. No politician is successful and totally free of emcumbrance, even if it's just free tickets to the footy. Trump, however, takes milking his position to levels rarely seen outside dictatorships.

This might be a surprise to some but.......... I AM A "LEFTIE". Suck it up.
-
If they are putting more workload onto the volunteer Magistrates, will they be willing to give additional time ?
-
But if, as reported, there is a shortage of Barristers and Judges, and a backlog within the CPS due to staff overload as it processes case files, how will Lammey's reforms help ?
-
FPTP has been bad enough with the traditional 3 party split, with 4 it is totally unpredictable.
-
Perhaps the Legal system needs reform, but this won't solve the problem. There is insufficient funding, the building infrastructure is crumbling, there is a lack of capacity within the system, and the prisons are at breaking point. This would only be a solution if the problem was a lack of jurors.

As if that bothers our recruitment team.

Donnie's ballroom build going well; The architect has told him it's now too big, after Donnie increased the dimensions of the building without consulting anyone. The builders have been told they are working "for the love of their country",but insist that materials will actually still need to he paid for after complaining that funds were not being released. All 6 members of the Committee that oversees the maintenance and alteration of Nationally significant monuments have been sacked after voicing concerns. It is expected that the new members will be favourable to Trump's whims. ( No shit ). Trump has told the builders that they do not have to comply with any zoning, planning, or building regulations.

The average Reform voter won't care - Nige is good bloke, salt of the Earth, just like you and me, likes a pint, and he knows how to sort out everything. Now, where's that donkey with the Reform rosette ?

I think Trump is pardoning / commuting the convictions of so many fraudsters because, as a fraudster himself, he doesn't think they have done anything wrong.
-
All those people who voted for Trump have to realise that he is doing this for them.

4 wins, yes. Impressive, maybe 2 of them.
