  1. I didn't make a direct comparison, I said that there are some parallels, which there are, as I listed. How far removed are we from a far right, or far left, Government, either Corbyn's revolutionaries or a UKIP inspired amalgum of Farage's cronies and the right wing of the Tories, such as the ironically named Francois ?
  2. Boris has just lost his majority as Dr Philip Lee MP resigns the Conservative Whip and joins the LibDems.
  3. "World's a mess, examples"; The above group of posts, from #25 on.
  4. I watched the first episode of "Rise of the Nazis", and some of the parallels between political activism in Germany in the late 1920s/ early 1930s and the UK in the last 4 years were worrying. Obviously we haven't got armed paramilitaries walking round, but with the ( verbally ) aggressive entrenchment towards both extremes of the political spectrum, the manipulation of Parliamentary process, and the increasingly overt xenophobia spouted by some, I can't see any chance of a "healing process" any time soon.
  5. Wes, on TV last night they showed a group of Brexit supporters shouting "you're not British any more" at a group of pro-EU demonstrators. Do you agree with them ? ( Most of the playground antics on here, from both sides, are pathetic, but probably only reflect what our politicians have been doing for at least the last 5 years ).
  6. We haven't left, and may well still not do so. In the meantime, the Casino Capitalists will always find ways to make money out of any situation.
  7. And 10 years ago it was below 5000, this graph provides nothing to any argument regarding the Brexit vote.
  8. I'm sanguine about being a "traitor" or a "quisling", particularly as the use of the latter shows a complete lack of understanding of historical context. Somebody suggesting remain voters be strung up by piano wire is taking it down to the depths of the lowest sewer, and shows such individuals up for the fascist thugs they pretend not to be.
  9. Dominic Cummings considers fresh negotiations with the EU to be a sham, so what was Boris doing when he asked for our negotiators to be allowed to get on with their work ?
  10. Which is worse, Corbyn in Downing Street or no-deal Brexit ? Personally I'd prefer to avoid both.
  11. Is the sun shining on Fantasy Island ?
  12. Is it hypocritical of BoJo to threaten to deselect MPs that vote against the Government ?
  13. Even on a free transfer he is overpriced.
  14. There is as much conjecture on your side of the debate, similarly lacking in any form of tangible evidence.
  15. That is what comes when we "regain control of our borders".
  16. Boris Johnson institutes a new think tank on solutions to the issue of the Irish border;
  17. I think the proposal is that there will be a "technological solution" that precludes the need for physical infrastructure or deployment of manpower. The fact that nobody has any idea whether such a solution is possible within years, let alone 2 months, is irrelevant.
  18. Post #13219; BoJo said before the referendum vote that the Irish border would "remain absolutely unchanged". "There's been a free travel area between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland for, I think, getting on for 100 years, there's no reason at all why that should cease to be the case." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-35692452 "Theresa Villiers, then Northern Ireland secretary, said the border would “remain as free-flowing after a Brexit vote as it is today” and anyone suggesting otherwise was “scaremongering”." http://www.irishnews.com/news/2016/04/18/news/irish-border-concerns-over-brexit-scaremongering-theresa-villiers-489126/
  19. Boris is playing a game. He has previously said that the Irish border will remain exactly as it is now, disregarding the changes that must occur if we leave the EU. His position is that if the UK doesn't impose controls, Eire daren't. Delusion or bravado ?
  20. Instant hero.
  21. Yes, but you have to put the Brexiteer spin on things.
  22. But they are saying that this proposal shows that the EU side is beginning to give ground.
  23. I suppose, as Saints fans, we are at least used to our team playing a side without a win in 13 matches and losing.
