  1. I like the irony that Sarnia ( the town ) is where Michael Moore went in 'Bowling for Columbine' to hold a mirror up to American gun culture.
  2. Could it not handle the truth ?
  3. For the purposes of the Human Rights Act; "On this basis, LQHT was a public authority in relation to both the grant and termination of a tenancy", however " For example, LQHT was a privately formed body, was governed by its own rules, managed its own housing stock, shared no board members with a relevant public body and had limited or no statutory powers", and "LQHT intends to appeal this aspect of the decision, and therefore confirmation of the trend towards a broader definition of public authority may come from an appellate court. In the meantime the area remains, in the words of the Court in Weaver, not ‘altogether easy to resolve". So not yet legally resolved. As the article I quoted was written by the head of the Housing Associations governing body, I suspect he knows their true legal status.
  4. From the link BTF posted earlier regarding Housing Associations : "To dispose of these assets to individuals is contrary to their legal objectives. To force housing associations to do so would require new law. That would be a law where the government tells a private social enterprise what it can and can't do with the assets it owns." This proposal is just a headline grabbing muddle.
  5. That would be Yorkshire First (http://www.yorkshirefirst.org.uk/ ), a misnomer if ever there was one, ( Yorkshire will NEVER be first ). Why are some southern folk so disparaging about the north ? Are you jealous ?
  6. Not as scary as an overall Tory majority.
  7. http://www.northern.party/ The revolution has begun ( and there's a candidate in my constituency ).
  8. Please note, not every 'right to buy' purchase has the happy ending that Jamie's family experienced.
  9. Genuine questions - how many former social / council houses have subsequently been sold on by the orginal buyer and are now in the private rented sector ? Also, what is the average length of 'ownership' before former social houses are sold on by the original purchaser ?
  10. Eric Pickles used to be a communist.
  11. Not by a very long chalk.
  12. Lab / Con / LD are all scrambling for the middle ground swing votes - principles and legacy have been thrown out of the window and replaced with bland, sound-bite driven, stodge.
  13. For the record, I do know Jack Schitt. He is the only son of Awe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, married O. Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt, Inc. They had one son, Jack. In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull Schitt, and the twins Deap Schitt and Dip Schitt. Against her parents' objections, Deap Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout. After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced. Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and, because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt Sherlock. Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt, and they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chicken Schitt. Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony. The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens nuptials. The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Hoarse. Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt
  14. How many 'cup finals' have the skates lost this season ?
  15. A moderately well run club with a recently built stadium beat a bunch of mercenary cast-offs who are based in a hovel. ( Only Fleetwood's ground is nearer to my house than the Globe - at least as the seagull flies ).
  16. I realised that and removed my post - being married to a blue I'm naturally anticipating a City win.
  17. I know, and when Stevenage confirm it next week by removing the last possible scrap of hope I will give a little cheer.
  18. They need 4 wins in their last 4 games to have a mathematical chance of the play offs.
  19. Not the best performance but exactly the right result, and the right goal scorers. Pressure on Liverpool & Spurs to keep up.
  20. Not from a corner.
  21. Brave choice.
  22. They can in Michael Gove's world.
  23. 32 years ago I started out as a programmer, on proper computers - they filled rooms and you fed them punched cards. 3 years later I moved into 'proper' IT, doing operating systems and network configuration & management. Obviously I lacked those 3 great virtues or I would have stayed with the easy life.
  24. So, which party is going to clamp down on lazy code monkeys and feckless Business Analysts ?
