  1. Meanwhile the Germans are invited in and quietly take over.
  2. Amen to that.
  3. It was the second part of your sentence that I was commenting on ; "..you know what has to be done to prevent the snp ruining the country". Where in their manifesto does it state their commitment to 'ruining' the UK ? Plus, as has been pointed out many times, Labour have ruled out a coalition with the SNP.
  4. You are entitled to your opinion.
  5. The perception of 'Red' Ed ? Bias in the printed media ? Maybe some people believe the sort of thing Boris posted ? The SNP taking seats in Scotland ? Voter apathy ?
  6. So why aren't the Tories nailed on for a dominant majority ? Because they are running such a negative campaign it's making people question everything that comes out of Conservative Central Office, and in doing so they realise there is no substance - as they ask in the USofA "Where's the beef ?".
  7. Tuscany
  8. How do you choose where to draw boundaries that provide a 'balanced' electorate in every constituencey ? How do you get additional Tories into a Barnsley seat, how do you get Labour voters into Henley ? What happens with the new boundaries when population demographics shift and the political leanings of the local electorate change accordingly ? This is exactly the sort of thing that true PR would mitigate.
  9. In Lancashire it's 10%+3, so you need to be over 36 in a 30 zone. Given the slight inaccuracies inherent in speedometers, it is impossible to be 100% accurate in reading a car's speed from the dial on the dashboard, so there's no chance of prosecuting for "+1".
  10. Most of what is posted about KoKo is widely believed to be true, ( for instance in the opinions of the Blackpool fans in my office ), and some of what is posted about Owen O is verifiable. What they have done with the parachute payments is perfectly legal, and totally despicable. Now the money has finally run out, will the Oyscum cut & run, or run the club into the ground ?
  11. You're correct, I missed the L out of cult.
  12. I'm a 'cut' and I'm not right wing.
  13. Donald Duck ? Mickey Mouse ?
  14. triangle
  15. Correct.
  16. Not at all according to the Electoral Reform Society: " AV is not proportional representation and in certain electoral conditions, such as landslides, can produce a more disproportional result than First Past the Post (FPTP) - See more at: http://www.electoral-reform.org.uk/alternative-vote#sthash.Y6M6TNKv.dpuf "
  17. Even I could outrun these : http://www.funny-potato.com/fat-policemen.html
  18. Stop making things up.
  19. In theory you could draw a box at the bottom of the ballot paper and label it as such, , but that would mean 'spoiling' your ballot paper and I would never suggest or condone such an act.
  20. According to the polls, none of the parties are electable, insofar as forming a Government.
  21. Whilst you lot are watching a political debate, I'm watching a program about a man 'hoarding' chickens - I have to say that the chickens make as much sense as most of this election campaign.
  22. I like the irony that Sarnia ( the town ) is where Michael Moore went in 'Bowling for Columbine' to hold a mirror up to American gun culture.
  23. Could it not handle the truth ?
  24. For the purposes of the Human Rights Act; "On this basis, LQHT was a public authority in relation to both the grant and termination of a tenancy", however " For example, LQHT was a privately formed body, was governed by its own rules, managed its own housing stock, shared no board members with a relevant public body and had limited or no statutory powers", and "LQHT intends to appeal this aspect of the decision, and therefore confirmation of the trend towards a broader definition of public authority may come from an appellate court. In the meantime the area remains, in the words of the Court in Weaver, not ‘altogether easy to resolve". So not yet legally resolved. As the article I quoted was written by the head of the Housing Associations governing body, I suspect he knows their true legal status.
  25. From the link BTF posted earlier regarding Housing Associations : "To dispose of these assets to individuals is contrary to their legal objectives. To force housing associations to do so would require new law. That would be a law where the government tells a private social enterprise what it can and can't do with the assets it owns." This proposal is just a headline grabbing muddle.
