  1. Would the UK be building the new nuclear stations if the Chinese Government wasn't investing ?
  2. Well, we wouldn't be building them without it.
  3. The only way we could finance the next gen nuclear stations was with Chinese, ( aren't they SOCIALIST ? ), money.
  4. Currently Denmark, and the French seem happy with theirs. Historically the post-war UK Government.
  5. It depends on whether your definition of 'socialist' is limited, as some on here with narrow opinions seem to hold true, to Marxism/Leninism. Alternatively, Obama is seen as 'socialist' in the USofA.
  6. "...censorship, banning free press, banning counter-revolutionary political parties..." What a load of b0ll0x. These are not the features of a socialist government, they are the features of an extremist government - of either political wing. As has been previously posted, Social Democracy is a common form of government in Europe, and is proven to work. How many of these alleged 'features' do those Governments exhibit ? As for the voluntary or compulsory taxation argument, I object to my taxes funding nuclear weapons, and foreign wars that benefit the American economy, but don't get a choice. Unfortunately there is one maxim that holds true in all cases - "All power corrupts".
  7. No matter how rich or poor we are in life, at the end we all become equal.
  8. What, if anything, is up with KD ? If he's out as well, who will be the #2 keeper ? EDIT: Just realised it would be Cropper.
  9. I've shied away from criticising him too much up to now, but he's had enough chances now -he looks lost and doesn't seem to be a team player.
  10. And it's baser side is what caused the worldwide financial meltdown. If people are motivated solely by acquisition of wealth and materiel they risk losing their humanity. By all means reward innovation and creativity, but why should somebody be paid huge amounts of money for gambling with other people's livelihoods ?
  11. I replied, tongue in cheek, with a 'definition' - something you claimed was lacking. However, for what it's worth, here's my definition of 'capitalism' - the creed of avarice and "I'm alright Jack".
  12. Hope this helps... http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/551569/socialism
  13. Remind me, what was the corresponding result last season ?
  14. Doesn't that depend on the level of right-wing defection to UKIP ?
  15. Cameron is also almost certainly as 'Scottish' as Blair, as his father's family are from Aberdeenshire.
  16. There is nothing preventing Tories getting elected in Scotland - other than the Tory policies. They still have 1. Also, Bliar's first 2 Governments had a majority in England, ( overall majorities of 179 and 167 ).
  17. Whilst I agree with the gist of this, for balance I would add that there are also areas of England that would never elect a Tory.
  18. How could some of them think so badly of TCWTB ?
  19. Niemi for Boruc Wright for Fonte Channon for Lambert
  20. "The 56-year-old leaves Ashton Gate with City currently 22nd in League One after just two wins in 18 matches." Seems an ideal candidate.
  21. Was in Finland a few years ago - minus 20 outside in the daytime, but +24 in the climate controlled shops. How quickly my attire changed from snug to sauna as I went through the doors.
  22. And pretty empty apart from the central belt.
  23. Scotland, as an independent country, would have it's own territorial waters, defined in international law. As such, most of the oil and gas fields are likely to become Scottish. There is an argument about the investment that has been made so far in the industry on behalf of the UK as a whole, and therefore whether a degree of compensation should be paid to the Treasury in the event of 'ownership' being transferred.
  24. I am fairly certain that sexually explicit images of somebody under 18 are illegal in the UK unless taken, and kept, in the context of an established relationship. From the CPS : "The fact that the subject of the indecent photograph(s) is aged 16 or 17 has no impact on sentencing starting points where the activity depicted is at level 5."
