One word, McGoldrick. Or another word, Saganowski. And after that, pick any one from the rest of the team. It doesn't matter one hoot whether we 'deserved' to get something from this game; in this one as in any number of previous games we failed to score. You get nothing for hitting the post, you get nothing for hitting the bar, and over an entire season you get the 'luck' you deserve - which in our case is none ! The "financial necessity" smokescreen that justified loaning out all of our experienced strikers condemned us from day one, and I cannot see any escape right now.

Davis will leave, and Saejis is only here next season IF we stay up.

English is a living, evolving language; the language of Chaucer grew into that of Shakespeare, which itself had perhaps 20% of the words and phrases commonly in use today, and the grammar and accepted spelling keep pace; after all, 'meh' made it into the Collins Dictionary at the end of last year. It all depends on what the individual defines as 'correct' English, ( and we can start by discounting all the American corruptions such as 'color' and 'lite' ).

My dear boy, please take note :- Oxford English Dictionary : lay into ( informal ) attack violently. Chambers Dictionary : lay into someone ( colloq ) to attack or scold them severely. Cambridge Dictionary : lay into ( sb ) phrasal verb INFORMAL to attack someone physically or to criticise them in an angry way: {m:- In the middle of the meeting she suddenly laid into him for no apparent reason. } TTFN

Whilst I understand the sentiment concerning the "12th man effect" of a partisan crowd, the reality is that this squad with this manager ( merely a continuation of the last one ), lack the strength, both mental and physical, experience, and nous to dig us out of the mess they have put us in. Every bl00dy week, one or other of them comes on the OS and bleats out the latest version of the rallying call, and every match it shows itself up to be yet another damp squib. This failed experiment couldn't change track even if there were 32000 shouting themselves hoarse at every home game, the squad is wrong, the team selection is wrong, the tactics are wrong, and any form of "leadership" is completely absent. The loanees couldn't care less as they simply go back to their clubs, those players soon to be out of contract will just plan to leave at the end of the season, and those that think they are too good to go down will slap in transfer requests. It's only the fans that will have to endure League 1. All the same, every kick-off will fuel the expectation, and 90 minutes later we can only hope that something, for once, will have gone our way. Still enough points, have the players got the balls ?

lay into Slang 1. To scold sharply. 2. To attack physically; beat up. I don't have to TRY to be clever

I suppose that in your view the following also apply ; France is governed by a frog, Spain by a spick, Italy by a wop, and Belgium by a sprout ?
-
And I would suggest that it is 'lay into', not as you have put it I suppose you found his comments about lorry drivers murdering prostitutes highly amusing also ? The man is a jumped up junior reporter from a provincial newspaper based in Rotherham.

I think that most complaints will be on the basis that we pay the pr1ck, ( Clarkson that is ). It's just of those pre-planned slips of the tongue that today's OK / HELLO aware 'celebrities' need to generate to maintain their public profile. ( For instance, wtf does Kerry Katona actually do for a living ? ) Clarkson has a persona with which he tries to position his mid 40's, slightly overweight, hairline receeding opinions with the mid 20's EVO driving kn0bs who worship at the altar of Top Gear.

Well she certainly hits every target :smt071:gib: I loved the bit about Rupert reading out the letter "he'd obviously written to himself". What was the bit about the Board bringing in 5 players without consulting the bank ? ( Got a bit distracted at that point and there is a lot in there to digest ) What chance on old rosey cheeks accepting an opportunity to respond ?

The problem with the graph above is that what is most relevant is the last 2-300 years, and the axis / scale is far too broad to show that. Try this page for some more definitive, and more scary, information ; http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2008/. Whilst those that say the earth is going through a geological cycle are correct, and we are currently in the midst of a spate of 'ice ages', the impact of pollution and and the emissions from the use of carbon based fuels over the last 200 year is accelerating any underlying upward trend. You also need to consider how small an increase in CO2 as a percentage of the atmosphere is calculated to trigger the 'greenhouse effect'.

TBH, at present I think the solution is to shoot somebody.

Please, in the name of all that is holy, go. Just go. Leave. Depart. Walk away. Don't look back. Don't hesitate. Don't pause to reconsider. No second thoughts. Accept that it's over. Please. PLEASE. PLEASE.

Nah, he's not that mobile

Wotte's been here, and an active part of the management setup, all season. There is no comparison to make - the dutch disaster continues to drag Southampton FC ever deeper into the mire.
-
I thought this was a football forum
-
You waited until post#146, what kept you ?
-
Well we could have started with 8, by adding Mule, BWP, and Rudi. Wotte is just the same dutch mistake but with a different face.
-
We have a worse manager than we had then as well !
-
Did you start this thread because you were losing the exact same debate on the post-match one ?
-
Because NP inherited a sh1te team from Gormless & Dudd, whereas Wotte has been a full part of the setup from the start of the season, and in all probability had been pulling JP's strings for most of the time he was nominally in charge.
-
Saints started with 6 experienced players - Davis, Saejis, Perry, Wotton, Saganowski, and Surman ( who is 22 and has started over 100 senior games ). Also, McGoaldrought has been an ever present this season ( which probably explains a great deal ).
-
That's the story of our season
-
The worst part of what now seems almost inevitable is that I will lose my two 'home' games next season - Preston and Blackpool; Stockport & Crewe are the nearest, but they are further away than the Dingles at Turf Moor
-
By my reckoning: Norwich P 31 Pts 32 GD -7 Derby P 29 Pts 32 GD -11 Barnsley P 30 Pts 32 GD -12 Donny P29 Pts 31 GD -12 Watford P 30 Pts 30 GD -11 Saints P 31 Pts 28 GD -19 Charlton P 31 Pts 22 GD -23 At least 8 of our remaining games are away
