Last resort backup
-
Very pleased with this one. It would seem the club are proving me wrong and reinvesting in the right direction. An exciting, intelligent, international player with leadership qualities, a working relationship with our manager and first team striker, solid European experience, and a great name! All for 8mil. A decent CB and some cover for Wanyama's inevitable suspension and we're looking pretty solid again, so long as we keep Gaston around for backup.

That's about half the forum ITK about this one now...
-
This commentator is f*****g useless.

The first sentance of my previous post is the point I'm trying to make. It's below in bold again just for you... I'm saying that the loss in quality this year will be worse than the last and it doesn't seem that we are replacing to the same standard. I'm looking forward to watching Soares play and seeing what he's about but it's hugely unlikely he'll be at Clynes level.

I'm saying that the loss in quality this year will be worse than the last and it doesn't seem that we are replacing to the same standard. Happy to be proved wrong with Morgan but apparently we are not looking to bring anyone else in (suggesting that we won't reinvest), so what will happen to the 25mil as he's obviously leaving?
-
If not worse. Toby is better than Lovren, Schneiderlin better than Lallana, and Clyne better than Shaw. The main difference from last year is that we don't seem to be willing to reinvest and are instead buying cheap. The comment from the other day about our business in the transfer window being pretty much done as far as incoming is concerned is hugely worrying. Wheres the 25mil for Morgan going? Aren't we supposed to still be over 30mil up after last summers business?

Roy Hodgson warns Clyne over attitude in response to Slovenia game

It's situations like this that make it very very difficult to get behind our national team. Gibbs, Smalling, Jones, Townsend, Sterling. Really? Where was Bertrand, Austin, Clyne and Jagielka? Most ridiculously though, why on earth did Walcott not start? His recent form has been outstanding. -
Today is a good day. That Guardian article particularly pleased me.
-
No mention of Clyne... I'd be pretty impressed if we hold on to Morgan (and he's happy about it).

Victor Wanyama tells The Sun that Arsenal want to sign him

Same s**t different season. The lack of respect shown by some of 'our' players in recent years has been disgusting. I know footballers aren't the brightest bunch but it doesn't take much to demonstrate a bit of class and keep your mouth shut (especially on twitter responding to complete morons). As Saints fans we surely understand our place in the footballing world and players the quality of Clyne, Wanyama and Schniderlin won't stick around forever, but there's the right way and the wrong way to conduct yourself when wanting a transfer (i.e. the Lambert/Cork way or the Lovren/Lallana way). -
Thought he looked rock solid tonight. Made some great interceptions, stuck a foot in when needed and calm going forwards. Brilliant.

Good enough for me

Row 2. F**k it.
-
Clyne, J-Rod, Forster and Wanyama should all be higher. EA seem to have gone with the usual habit of rating everyone 74-75 if they don't actually have a clue.
-
Apparently the 'Drayton Arms' is the usual away pub (I've only heard this from a work colleague so please correct me if I'm wrong someone!).
-
I booked online and didn't receive a block/seat number like you usually do for a home game, just a confirmation email. I got a four digit number when I check on my purchase history on the official site but I haven't got a clue what that means?!
-
I had the same problem. You can only order one under your name so you've got to 'guest register' other people (just change the name and use your details for the rest). I managed to pick up 5!
-
Really want to make this one. I can rarely afford to travel to Southampton for a match or pay out £50 for a London away day! Are we saying that half have already been sold prior to this morning? Has anyone spoken to the ticket office about numbers remaining today?
-
That was absolutely brilliant. I doubt our media team had much involvement in it but still, top effort. COYS
-
So he played American football for an airport?! We've already got an NHL rep, why not get the NFL on board as well...
-
Age and potential. Time to mold them as players. Long has shown his cards and everyone knows what his level is. Everyone also knows he a c**t.
-
Yup. Not that I rate either of them but they are both still an improvement on Long.
-
I'm not reacting to the 12 million as we have cash to burn blah blah blah (even though Shane Long is worth around 3 mil at most and we signed Wanyama for the same amount who is 10 times the player). Ok maybe I am. What I am reacting to is (IMO) the final nail in the coffin for any real ambition we may have as a club. I've never felt so disillusioned about a signing. This reeks of 'oh s**t we can't get any decent strikers, who would take a pay cheque for a year and fill a spot?' I am seriously, Shane f*****g Long? Are we that desperate? We've already got Sharp, Gallagher and Mayuka who are all of the same level?! I'm shocked at how many people seem to be ok with this signing. He is average at best. He rarely displays any vision and is simply there to run the channels and counter attack, of which he is also not overly gifted at. Every time he's played us he's been a dirty, cheating c**t and spends the entire game trying to get a rise out of a defender. What a shame...

Cork with no new contract as well. That leaves us Davis and Boruc.
