As evidenced by the hundreds of gay players in England who have already come out and basked in the warm welcome of the hospitable fan base. Yes. Spurs fans sing it so they can 'own' the term and not be damaged by it - see black people using the n word - but the club are running a consultation on it at the moment.

We absolutely should be. I might seek an explanation as to why we're not. Glad that particular chant was limited to murmurs and quickly shut down where I was today.
-
You'll have to explain that one for us

The highlights demonstrate how many times we broke them down.

Let's get Pochettino on

Watching the game back. Something I didn't spot earlier - hotheaded Osvaldo running over to Schneiderlin when it all started kicking off and pulling him away from trouble!
-
Southampton need Gastón Ramírez to pull them together in midfield

Hmm, interesting view. Certainly true that we need to link up better through the middle but I wonder whether that's more about the movement of Osvaldo/Lambert than having Ramirez in. Certainly could have worked today though, surprised neither he nor Davis made an appearance. -
Absolutely spot on here I think. Part of it is a lack of understanding, which is fair enough. Another strange thing is that Wanyama seems to be doing Cork and Schneiderlin's job on his own while Morgan is a little ahead of him. There have been so many occasions in the last few games where Wanyama has won/received the ball, held off an opponent and turned into space only for nobody to be open for him. If that were Cork, Schneiderlin would have been there and vice versa. Morgan's a forward ball more often than a sideways ball now, which makes him less accessible.

I was directly in front of the fella with the beanie. Managed to hold it all back but they were raring to go at each other for about 10 minutes because one guy was yelling at people as they were leaving and telling them to support the team. Both had daughters with them, one of whom was crying. Grim

Gary Neville is very, very good so this is nice and the Pochettino quotes are great. Also pleasing to see someone mention our academy and not use the phrase 'your Theo Walcotts, your Gareth Bales'
-
That's not even a prediction

Unless he starts wearing replica kits and singing Play Up Pompey halfway through broadcasts this is of very little consequence.

What conclusion can be drawn from Ashley Cole not passing to Rickie Lambert?
-
Conspiracy!
-
Sort of. But good as he is, a team which is capable of competing for honours in major international tournaments starts with better players than Rickie Lambert. The question is at what point, and for how long, England has ever been this team. Anyone invested in England's success has to think about those issues.

I long for the day when pointing out praise for our academy is considered as redundant as a United forum pulling up quotes from opposition managers when they say 'United are a good team'.

Would be good to get an instagram list up as well, several who aren't on Twitter have that. Boruc, Mayuka and I think Guly does as well

Has anyone got decent 76 cup final memorabilia?

I've got a signed copy of Lawrie's Diary of a Season book as well, by him and quite a few players. A seriously prized possession. -

I've had some really nice pieces passed down from my grandpa, including a commemorative mug with the squad's signatures, the match programme and a few badges. -
What an incredible opportunity. Best of luck to him - I'll be up in Liverpool but I'm gonna try my best to watch a bit/keep up

Arteta is arguably less of a 'defensive midfielder' than Wilshere is - but Wenger famously doesn't use them. The last player he really had of that ilk was Alex Song, and even then he marauded forward and chipped balls through to Van Persie every game. That roll call is the sort of depth a European side needs, particularly when some of them can play further forward (Rosicky, Ramsey, Wilshere to an extent)
-
I'm speculating, but I imagine that Arsenal's starting midfield and frontline will be: Wilshere Arteta Walcott Ozil Cazorla Giroud Schneiderlin wouldn't unseat any of them, he'd be a squad player.

A serious transfer window review thread...
DuncanRG replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Fellaini for James McCarthy at a £14m profit is a good move. I doubt the former would ever be a natural fit for a Martinez team so to offload him for a younger, more suitable player is wise and they'll be very pleased to have made that much money from it. The irreplacable Baines would have been a far, far greater loss.
