  1. First routine win since the NPC. Wise to select Davis. He played well and I hope he keeps his place for next week.
  2. Pardew wore them? Doesn't he normally wear a suit on matchdays?
  3. Unless you're at the top of the table and everything hinges on the head-to-head games with your direct rivals, I don't think you can call season-defining games in advance.
  4. Score early and we've got 'em
  5. I'd hate to see him play for another club. I really hope this isn't true but I suppose it's not totally beyond the realms of possibility.
  6. EDIT: wrong thread
  7. It was madness to appoint him in the first place, even worse to let him sign 14 players and sack him after five games. Sunderland are an absolute laughing stock, but I hope that's the end of Di Canio's career in English football.
  8. Stray passes from a holding midfielder tend to have bigger consequences than from strikers.
  9. He's not been at it so far, but he's earnt our patience.

  11. I think 20k would be pushing it even if the game was a fiver. 5,000 is a poor showing though - I'm back up north now so can't really do it but I wish I was going.
  12. It's quite stunning how many people are ready to ignore this obvious truth.
  13. Raheem Sterling misinterprets Stonewall campaign
  14. Great result and good performance. I don't feel it was an earth-shaking improvement on West Brom, West Ham or Sunderland, just poorer opposition (on the day) and that bit of luck we'd previously been lacking. Echo the love-in for Lovren.
  15. You guys realise that you get promoted when you do well in lower leagues, right? So like, if we were to return to the Championship, much to your delight, take the thing by the scruff of the neck and end up winning a trophy, we'd only end up back in the Premier League? What a cruel hand the league system deals us. I'm happier now. This is the top league, I want the team to do as well as possible and I'd rather savour results than expect them.
  16. Sorry, should have been more clear - of course they're in good form. What I meant is that when big teams are out of form and get a home fixture against a smaller club there's often a big reaction and the little team gets thumped. When you're playing well there can be a degree of complacency, when it's 'only Southampton'.
  17. Christ tonight Any point there is a good point but purely for entertainment purposes I hope there are some goals. We need them.
  18. It's a classic banana skin for them. Good teams in bad form always look to bounce back hard when smaller teams come to their ground.
  19. Swansea have Spanish football to thank!
  20. I think he's got us pretty much nailed, but I'm still expecting Pochettino to revert to one striker when we go away to play top teams. One less striker means there's a man to plug the gap between attack and midfield, which was a problem on Sunday and will only worsen if it's not fixed away from home. I think Davis will (or should) be our man - he's never marked out of games and even if they press him hard he's normally got his head up often enough to spot Lallana, Rodriguez et al and pick them out quickly.
  21. Good for him, I suppose...
