Council crack down on English Speaking taxi stickers
Sergei Gotsmanov replied to Huffton's topic in The Lounge
Why do some people have to seek out (most of them on behalf of others) perceived racism. Not only is that patronising, it implies that somehow people cannot think for themselves. Not only that but it tends to amplify the resentment, as no doubt it has in this situation will have done. Maybe you should look at it like this, as the council have stated, it is a requirment that people speak English to be entitled to a licence. This rule is apparently being ignored by the council, forcing some to take their own steps. It seems it is they that are now being punished. Should the council be cracking down on those not complying with the Non English rule? Generally it is possible to identify genuine racism and the PC brigade should conserve their energy to tackle this when it rears its unsavoury head. -
What will they do to Kanu for being late back? Fine him a weeks wages I expect. Pompey legends of 2008; Player who won the cup for them with his tap in cannot be bothered to come back. Captain who lifts the trophy now suing them

I probably fall into the camp of strongly disliking Portsmouth but ultimately would like the natural order restored with then returning to gates of 6000 and bottom half of the Chamionship. I like the rivalry and hope they do retain their league status. I began following Saints in 1978 but was too small really and probably circa late 80's 90's Saints fan. I really notice on here that the generation below me, the late 60's 70's early 80's Saints fans however seem to have a real venom about Pompey going to the wall. The hatred steps up a gear. They must have been interesting days.

I would explain the situation to the new compamny and enjoy three days off. If the new company get funny then you have made the wrong decesion joining them

They are like a turd that just won't flush

It is a little strange that Storrie is throwing his toys out of the pram about not being in on the loop about discussions with Spurs. I would assume that his old mate Harry would have kept him pretty much up to date on any news. The least he would have done is picked up the phone to Harry.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/dailypolitics/andrewneil/ This is a good piece. It highlights how the debate has been stifled.

Why Geneva Saint? the bloke had just threatened to 'slit his family's throats'. Maybe you would perhaps let the occasion get to you a bit. I would give him a medal. Now on to the 'victim' who was too 'brain damaged' to face charges but not it seems to carry out further crimes of fraud. -

Then Bungle we will never agree. That man tied up an honest law abiding man's family and used a knife to bully and threaten them. By doing this in my opinion he forfeited his right to be treated as a normal citizen and was dealt with appropriately. -

and he will not reoffend. It is all very easy to look at things in the cold light of day. You do not think that having your family threatened like that you would have stopped giving chase. I would have given the b*astard a few more cover drives and a reverse sweep in the boll*cks. -

If somebody ties up my family and threatens them with a knife then they will get what is coming to them. They should lose their right to protection of the law. If that is vigilante justice then so be it. -
Come on TopGun this has called into question the integrity of the whole document. What most of us need is information supported by sound scientific research so we can draw our own conclusions. What happens if you were somebody who was directly effected by the loss of these glaciers in this region?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8468358.stm The arrogance of these people seems to know no boundaries. How irresponsible to make reckless predictions without backing them up with proper research.

Dumes main post came from the Sun day Times. What is worrying is that we are simply not getting proper debate

For those wishing 10 point deductions next season - if we go up next season and not this then we will probably miss playing them as they will drop again. I want to lay that 4-1 defeat to rest at Fratton Park

The trouble we all face is that a report that says 'global warming not happening' is seen as dull and has limited coverage, whereas anything that has 'the world is ending' not surprisingly is headline news. Now I am not an expert but I do know that we have three winters that have got progressively colder (my own experience not scientific) I keep livestock and a cold spell makes a big difference so I notice. We have also not had a 'scorching' summer since 2006 and before then 2003. I will say that we did go through a period of unusually mild winters before the last three.

Very interesting Saint John

Aintforever the earth has cooled and warmed over eternity; sea levels have dropped and risen as well, this is fact. What many of us want is rational debate not being called 'flat earthers' or deniers. Lets face it scientists generally change their minds every ten years anyway. There are many that are financially benefiting from the global warming panic. I am not an expert but I think it is more likely that a disease will get us first - look at swine flu; just think of something more potent. We have a population problem and if you live in the sticks and understand nature you will know that mother nature has a great habit of throwing up a disease to address over population.

No WG I was merely pointing out that in the eighties there was hysteria about the Ozone layer which has now died down. Badger nothing has been proved 'correct'. What many people are saying is that the debate is ongoing.
-
What happened to the ozone layer? we all stopped buying deodorant in the eighties and were told that we would all be wiped out in decades. In the seventies we were being told that we were on the verge of another ice age - man made of course! Scientists are fallible.

It is unhealthy for the club to attempt to manipulate the local media. I am eternally grateful for Cortese's intervention in saving our club but this does not put him above critcism when he behaves inappropriately.
-
Am with Duncan on this. Whatever you think of the Echo, anybody who cuts off the press is out of order. In history, people who have tried to control the press tend to be fascists, communists or unsavoury dictators. Cortese has a good story to tell he should let it be told. He has done a lot of good to date so why bother.

I remember us beating Blackburn away in the late nineties in November and Roy getting the sack. Bet you don't remember who scored for us in the two goal win
