  1. and he will not reoffend. It is all very easy to look at things in the cold light of day. You do not think that having your family threatened like that you would have stopped giving chase. I would have given the b*astard a few more cover drives and a reverse sweep in the boll*cks.
  2. If somebody ties up my family and threatens them with a knife then they will get what is coming to them. They should lose their right to protection of the law. If that is vigilante justice then so be it.
  3. Come on TopGun this has called into question the integrity of the whole document. What most of us need is information supported by sound scientific research so we can draw our own conclusions. What happens if you were somebody who was directly effected by the loss of these glaciers in this region?
  4. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8468358.stm The arrogance of these people seems to know no boundaries. How irresponsible to make reckless predictions without backing them up with proper research.
  5. Dumes main post came from the Sun day Times. What is worrying is that we are simply not getting proper debate
  6. For those wishing 10 point deductions next season - if we go up next season and not this then we will probably miss playing them as they will drop again. I want to lay that 4-1 defeat to rest at Fratton Park
  7. The trouble we all face is that a report that says 'global warming not happening' is seen as dull and has limited coverage, whereas anything that has 'the world is ending' not surprisingly is headline news. Now I am not an expert but I do know that we have three winters that have got progressively colder (my own experience not scientific) I keep livestock and a cold spell makes a big difference so I notice. We have also not had a 'scorching' summer since 2006 and before then 2003. I will say that we did go through a period of unusually mild winters before the last three.
  8. Very interesting Saint John
  9. Aintforever the earth has cooled and warmed over eternity; sea levels have dropped and risen as well, this is fact. What many of us want is rational debate not being called 'flat earthers' or deniers. Lets face it scientists generally change their minds every ten years anyway. There are many that are financially benefiting from the global warming panic. I am not an expert but I think it is more likely that a disease will get us first - look at swine flu; just think of something more potent. We have a population problem and if you live in the sticks and understand nature you will know that mother nature has a great habit of throwing up a disease to address over population.
  10. No WG I was merely pointing out that in the eighties there was hysteria about the Ozone layer which has now died down. Badger nothing has been proved 'correct'. What many people are saying is that the debate is ongoing.
  11. What happened to the ozone layer? we all stopped buying deodorant in the eighties and were told that we would all be wiped out in decades. In the seventies we were being told that we were on the verge of another ice age - man made of course! Scientists are fallible.
  12. what was the crowd
  13. It is unhealthy for the club to attempt to manipulate the local media. I am eternally grateful for Cortese's intervention in saving our club but this does not put him above critcism when he behaves inappropriately.
  14. Am with Duncan on this. Whatever you think of the Echo, anybody who cuts off the press is out of order. In history, people who have tried to control the press tend to be fascists, communists or unsavoury dictators. Cortese has a good story to tell he should let it be told. He has done a lot of good to date so why bother.
  15. I remember us beating Blackburn away in the late nineties in November and Roy getting the sack. Bet you don't remember who scored for us in the two goal win
  16. Hamster I generally divide our Nation up by; Wealth creaters - pay for everyone. Without us we are screwed. Neccesary Public Sector workers;soldiers, teachers, police, firefighters, Docters, Nurses possibly even parking wardens Others; public sector workers who retire at 60 when we are told we are now going to retire at 70, include sick leave as part of their holiday, have statutory 6 weeks holiday and gold plated pensions. The Queen is a wealth creator so I support this institution. I despise politicians and bureaucracy because it is an indusry that creates red tape that means that us wealth creators have to work longer hours and spend less time with our families. Th EU is a master at this.
  17. The Queen has no real power, she is symbolic. She is a very good ambassador for the country generating considerable income for the nation. She conducts herself with great dignity (I might not be prepared to die for her though) In contrast this unelected woman with limited experience wields considerable power. She joins a long list of Brits that have joined the EU gravy train and made fortunes. A special thank you to the Kinnocks for all their efforts in making a difference to our lives; they preach socialism while picking up an obscene amount of money. I cannot wait until the MEPs expenses are esposed.
  18. I got 12/1 on them finishing bottom and 3s on them relegated. A day later they were odds on for relegation. The bookies were caught with their pants down.
  19. TameSaint you got thise odds in early August
  20. Very sad to hear this. A loyal Saints and Hampshire stalwart.
  21. He kept the club going when we would have gone out of business. He sorted the Ted Bates statue out. His company sponsored just about everything apart from the shirts. He was guilty of not seeing through Wilde but he was not alone there. People should acknowledge his contribution.
  22. In fairness we had a miracle escape with a fairy tale ending. In the middle of a a horrendous economic crisis we find a Swiss Billionaire. He seems sensible and not as egotistical as some. Administration was a good thing but it should really have been a terrible thing. How many current clubs would want to be in our situation. Yes we may be bottom of league one but we all know that with our resources we will be climbing back up the league.
  23. the chap I sat next to at the Dell until the season before we moved was over 90 and went to his first game in 1921
  24. Everyone was at it then. Remeber the West Ham pair (I think it was). It also went on in cricket - first wide etc
  25. I backed Charlton to win the division after they thumped us last season. Bloody good point
