I also remember those who went too far the other way saying that they would never dare to do anything. Sanctions and Liz Truss stern words would stop them. I thought that Putin could do it. I did not think that Ukraine would have been so successful at resisting them or Russia so willing to cause mass casualties in the full view of the world. I think there was a genuine chance that NATO might have backed down from defending a member state as a matter of expediency in the initial phases of this. But with the success Ukraine has shown in resisting there is no way that NATO would not only defend any and all territory they would clearly win. IF part of the goal of Russia was to make NATO think twice about defending members on it eastern edge there is no doubt now they would be fully committed. I am not sure how this ends without regime change otherwise it just grinds on and I do not see Putin going soon or willingly. Maybe it will end up like a Korean Demilitarize zone with a ceasefire not a peace treaty and the possibility of hostilities resuming once the ammo is replenished.

Russia looks pretty corrupt to, so Ukraine would have been justified to invade them right?

Wonder if that offers still good? Got 2 weeks left to get it in!

That was bad, I am not really sure what to say, that first goal was a comedy of errors as each of them messed up getting it out or completing a successful pass giving the Watford player loads of time to close them down. It was almost looking like someone paid them off to let them score. The attack was not set up correctly to deal with the opposition in front of them. And I don't know what is up with our central midfield, has someone come and given Romeu a knock on the legs or the head in the parking lot after training or something? Or has playing constantly finally burnt out JWP? Perrud not at fault for the second he had to pick which of the two to cover because everyone else had abandoned him, picked the more central player, probably right decision, and could not back up quickly enough when he could see it going to the further player. Plus Moi hung him out to dry with not passing to him when he went outside, you could see his frustration. Is this part of a Ralph super plan to lower the transfer fee for Broja and prevent people poaching Salisu? Or is he trying to make sure Man U doesn't call because he is not very good at saying no and would really like to retire in a couple years.

what the fuck was that

When the emphasis is for us to attack I think KWP is fine at LB, the kind of runs he makes and then ability to cut in like an inverted winger is awesome. But if we need to defend on the left or the opposition sets up to block the inside channel then he is less effective and does not have the same chance to beet a man on the outside. I agree than Tino is not providing enough right now, and the negatives of KWP at LB is not offset by utilizing Tino over Perrud in the other slot.
-
This one did not hurt as much as Villa, there we didn't turn up, this one we could not quite get it done. Perrud on the left makes us more balanced, KWP's runs are great but if we need to defend we need the real LB, KWP should have been on the right better than Tino currently. I think what is really hurting us is Romeu is not playing as well as he was a few weeks ago, worried he might be carrying an injury, he is vital to the way we play allowing JWP and fullbacks to go forward, and we have no one else with that same skill set to replace him.

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

Did the OP know that we would be facing a killer virus and then a potential nuclear war back in July 2019 when picking a title thread. Which will be the next horseman? Will inflation be so bad that we have mast starvation? -
I think we should all just stop being pussies and trying to figure out what we can do without setting off grumpy Mr Putin. If I was younger, fitter or more useful I would not think twice about being in this war. I also have a step son on an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean who would obviously be in harms way. Putin is not going to sit on the naughty chair after all this for a while. this basically ends when one side stops being able to act or their leadership is ousted by their countrymen. We should not kid ourselves here. If we believe in liberal democracy we should be willing to defend it. The Ukrainian's are not all paradigms of virtues they have their faults like all countries, but they are a damn site better than the regime Putin runs, and with all wars its is the ordinary people who suffer. Nothing we have done so far will ultimately be enough to stop them, if it does not stop here there will be further conflict down the road or a new cold war, this time the western countries are not as far ahead of the rest of the world and it might not end so well.

We have already seen they have the body evaporating mobile crematorium thing so that probably not going to be an issue. Just peoples sons never showing up again. Easier to hide true losses this way. Plus they won't be telling anyone this for sometime one imagines.

I favour Gold Shower, Dr Don't Know, or Grabbling Pussy Galore as code names

Clearly we should have let them in sooner.

Right now I am in the process of doing QA checks on components used in fracking fluids as the demand for this stuff has gone nuts. 2 years ago we could not give the stuff away (we tried lowering the price to stimulate demand with no bites). Fracking here in the US is in big demand. But that's partially because they are much more risk tolerant (although the risks are mostly taken on by a different group of people than generally get the reward....) But the irony is because of the resistance to spending more money than necessary huge amounts of methane are being released in to the atmosphere either because they are after oil and do not want the hassle of dealing with the gas capture or just because they leak really badly. Which if you know about methane is itself a potent green house gas. Rather undermining the reduction in CO2 generation by burning it as an alternative energy source. I understand we need to worry about climate change but doing the deal with the devil on gas does not look worth the price. But that would have required individuals and companies to have made earlier sacrifices. I think we should just call Putin's bluff and intervene militarily. A no fly zone wont help, as that limits Ukraine from using its drone force too.
-
I think part of the answer of why Putin did it now is because of high energy prices, because that means he has a form of leverage. You can correlate previous actions by Russia in their interventions with high energy price spikes. So high energy price is the cause of the invasion not the consequence (but subsequently sent them even higher)

This was the time when if we needed a late goal Barry Venison would become the third striker!
-
Could not call him a second striker as in that period there were two stickers up top already. In a 4 in midfield Tis was the advanced playmaker of the pair with the other centre mid doing the holding roll. The roll was also to be the player run into the box to support the stickers on a running play through the centre or wing or to be outside the box to pick up loose balls on a more methodical attack. It has to be remembered that in this period wingers provided most of the width, with full backs overlapping some times to help with crossing, but the first instinct of the wide midfield players of the era was to go outside to create crosses for the forwards and arriving mid fielders rather than to cut inside like the current game.

I thought Gaston Ramirez just needed more time. I am still waiting. When Rory Delap signed for us instead of a big club, I thought its about time we got the chance at the big time instead.

I only had you boys for company on this one today, thanks for taking me through the game. Was not hopeful when I saw that lineup, but you got me through this one, onwards and upwards!

I live in West Virginia so I expect my future will be very Fall Out 76, ie it will suck. My parents should be alright, Exeter looks about your best bet in the south.

Lawro tipping us for this one, so we are obviously doomed. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/60271312

Everton get an apology, more than we ever get and the ref for their next game was operating the VAR. So look out for a dodgy compensation decision. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/60572525

We can put them in the large empty houses of fleeing Russian Oligarchs.

Zero Hedge has long been identified as a Russian propaganda vehicle to undermine capitalist markets. It is a mixture of legitimate market commentary and pro Russian pieces. It will always take the negative side of an argument. It was founded by a disgruntled ex trader but was purchased by Russian intelligence operatives a number of years ago. So I would not take anything is says as being honest. All articles are written by "Tyler Durden" originally these were believed to be written by a a group of three people, but I do not know what the current state of it is.
