Number one it's not about economic policy on the whole. Republicans have drifted towards control for controls sake, tossing out any adherence to a constitution if inconvenient. And are looking for ways to oppress people in the name of religion because that is what they think they need to do. The democrats are becoming beholden to identity politics to such a degree that they are losing support from these groups because they do not actually offer any help to these groups. There is a constant outrage at everything, but never actually doing anything to help anyone. Any consensus of progress in improving people's lives in general is lost as now the two groups mostly work for a select few. The already powerful on the right and the imagined oppressed people on the left (while ignoring actual problems, because it is hard and requires compromise). It leaves me in the middle scratching my head wondering what the fuck is going on while not being able to participate anyway as a Brit in the US.

The response to a drift towards authoritarian tendency on the right of the US political spectrum has been an embrace of leftist authoritarianism as a counter. As religiosity has started to marginally fall, an attempt is being made to entrench its seat at the table before the opportunity is lost, and using accidental quirks of the system to ram through agendas unopposed to help those with money to make more money. The energy of the leftist is fully engaged in defending the rights of those who they can feel most sorry for without even asking what this hypothetical and probably non existent person needs most. You can try the American free market approach to Healthcare which has clearly held the price down through competition. Oh sorry it is governed by the other market force no one likes to mention when advancing the cause of capitalism every where, known as what the market will bear. Ie you charge as much as you can and will still get payed. However towards the end of the season we stopped playing that way with more methodical attacks where we controlled possession and worked are way into the box before making passes to Broja. The fact is that the top women's game does not currently have players of a similar skill level to that of the top men's game. I do not expect them to physically be the same. It is the attempt to make out that they should be considered equal in quality that is the problem. The women's game is improving, but it is like comparing MLS with the premier league. The games themselves can be fun to watch in their own context but I know watching Columbus Crew, this is not the same level as Watching Saints although the gap has closed in recent years. It should be enjoyed on it own merits and people should admit there is currently less interest. To pretend it is not is counter productive. The US women's teams constant moaning is not really helping which seems to be more about pushing an agenda outside their sport, than their own game"s advance and the boasting of their achievements when really they have been beating up on under resourced chumps who will be knocking them off their pedestal soon enough as the rest of the women's game around the world catches up. Complaining about not making as much as the men for winning the world cup will look less relevant when they are unable to win it.

Against a good side we need the natural LB for defense, KWP is a good choice at LB only when playing a team who will put the onus on us to attack, as his great runs can carve open a packed defense where as against a good team a more managed left side attack is preferred, ie trying to turn their RB for a cross. Elyanousi looks like he has given up somewhat and simply not working as a cog in the machine. Now I think that the most important point is that tactics have evolved somewhat since teams dropped having two stickers the two CB were able to cover 1 ST, as those other forward players went looking for "holes" at this point the full backs were free to play more advanced as they did not have to worry about covering of an attack as much. So much so that nearly all the width is coming from the FBs and the traditional winger has basically disappeared. All it takes is now for one player to revert to the second stricker roll and you have effectively taken two players out of the game. If they advance they leave the defense open to a quick attack and if they sit back then there is no wide player with the skill set to unlock the sides. Iceland did this to England in the Euros and I think we will see this increasingly against teams who rely on the FB for their width.
