  1. United still have some difficult games to play, although it is does look like the chance is pretty much gone. Looking forward to Europa next season though.
  2. And now Dr Foxy... 9 charges, 3 children.
  3. Shame there are no more midweek games to go watch in the pub.
  4. See him at the train station almost daily, spoken to him a few times, always says hello with his copy of the Telegraph under his arm. Seems much nicer than he does on TV or in the press. However, the way that he reported on the Hillsborough disaster was horrendous, even if the information he was given was indeed true. There was no excuse for what can only be seen as a lack of human decency in the way the Sun went about its business.
  5. As I have found out with nuisance neighbours, I think you'll spend a lot of time, stress and money, and it won't help one bit. Frustrating, but that's it.
  6. I don't mind, people haven't noticed that we have the best run-in. All we need to do is continue to win games, and in 3 or 4 games times everyone will start to lose their ****.
  7. You say that, but none of my friends support Saints so I have literally no-one to go to matches with. When I go into tend to go either on my own, or I'll try to meet up with those on her, for instance I went to the Arsenal away game with one of adriansfc's mates. Can usually get someone to come to the pub to watch it though.
  8. It's what he would have wanted...
  9. In relation to Mr White, he was a parody for 90% of his posts, and probably got exactly what he wanted from this forum, indignation from 'mongs'.
  10. Just as an aside Bearsy, as I'm sure it wasn't meant like this but: Meaning To speak plainly - to describe something as it really is. Origin It might be thought that this derives from the derogatory use of the slang term 'spade', meaning Negro, an American term originating in the 20th century. That view of it as derogatory might also be thought to be supported by this piece from John Trapp's Mellificium theologicum, or the marrow of many good authors, 1647: "Gods people shall not spare to call a spade a spade, a niggard a niggard." Trapp's use of 'niggard' is difficult to interpret. The word had several meanings in the 17th century. It could be used to mean 'miser', which is the more common usage today, or as a general term of abuse - 'lout', 'barbarian' etc. The word was also used as the name of firebricks in grates. The co-incidence in form and pronuctiation of 'niggard' and '******' causes some confusion. Although the two words probably derived independently, they doubtless affected each other's development of meaning over time. Whatever Trapp's intention was, we can be confident that he didn't mean '******' or 'negro'. An earlier expression of the notion, albeit in different form to that which we now use, comes from Nicolas Udall's 'Apophthegmes, that is to saie, prompte saiynges. First gathered by Erasmus' - translated in 1542: "Philippus aunswered, that the Macedonians wer feloes of no fyne witte in their termes but altogether grosse, clubbyshe, and rusticall, as they whiche had not the witte to calle a spade by any other name then a spade." This refers back to Plutarch's Apophthegmata. The eccentric right-wing British Tory politician Sir Gerald Nabarro was fond of emphasizing his direct 'man of the people' image by saying 'I call a spade a shovel'. In fact, despite being from an immigrant family himself, Nabarro loudly supported the repatriation of Caribbean immigrants to the UK. How he referred in private to the people who would have undoubtedly have been called 'spades' in Nabarro's social circle isn't recorded. http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/call-a-spade-a-spade.html
  11. ******** to that, I want to see Bearsy's balls!
  12. Very possibly, this is the only forum I am a member of so I'm not 100%. What I find strange is that off the forum, where I have the same views, I get on with pretty much everyone I know and meet, whereas on here all you have to do is have a differing opinion to people when you debate and they take what seems to be an instant dislike to you. It's just not something I'm used to in normal day to day life, so i think it's a good idea to chat it out face to face. I've only tried it with Tim and Whelk, that have both been quite recently, just thought it may be an idea to see if anyone would actually do it.
  13. Ah, I see. How do you think it went?
  14. I think you've misunderstood why I asked...
  15. It's not really humour though is it, as they're quite serious subjects. If it was a case of it was a jokey thread, and it happened then fair enough, but in this context it just comes across as hostile and vitriolic, and just because I have an opinion that differs to yours. In all honesty, I think it's strange how hostile the board has become, and just based on differing opinions. If we all had the same opinions the world would be a pretty rubbish place.
  16. I did make a reasoned argument, you're the one that didn't. Mainly because I wanted to know if you fancied going for a pint to discuss the issues. I wanted the town, not your actual address. I can't believe you're actually like this in real life, so it would be interesting to have a pint and thrash out our differences. Interwebz is so impersonal.
  17. Cool, must have been someone lying earlier in the thread then to discredit you. It happens a lot on this forum tbf.
  18. Just can't post without insulting people can you? You really are a nasty piece of work. Where do you live Whelk?
  19. Doubt the would if they did. Think Batman may have mind.
  20. That is awesome!
  21. We seem to be agreeing too much lately Hypo - need to go back to insulting each other. You nob.
  22. Surely that's anti-sexism though, the fact that these girls can do what they want and celebrate in the way that they see fit?
  23. Hope the weather is good - if not I can see myself being a right pussy with it.
  24. But that would have to be written into their current contracts, yes, and not into the termination of the contract?
