  1. I don't understand why Chelsea would agree to this unless the buyback is set at something like £35m, he is tied down to them for another 4 years I think, why would they want to pay in excess of £25m for a player they already have? They could just charge 2 loan fees at £5m over next 2 seasons and it wouldn't cost them anything that way to get him back either in 2 years time. The only other factors I can think of would be to balance the books for FFP, or more unlikely, for cashflow purposes, but I'm encouraged by this, let's hope someone at Chelsea makes a huge miscalculation.
  2. We put on a light show now with all the pyrotechnics, flashing lights and what not etc etc, which is pretty good for the cameras/TV A bit of rust on the concourses is probably as you say less on the priority list.
  3. I would take Dele Alli on loan too, but I'd offer Spurs £40k a week or start with that, Spurs need him off their books more than we need Dele for our PL status. If we're paying £100k a week for say 20 weeks, is he worth £2m? Would he be the player to lift us 2 spots higher? I think he could come good for us, after all sometimes a player needs a change of scenery and he might shine for us as a big fish in a smaller pond.
  4. Yep, JWP scuffed the penalty spot for England when we played Iceland away, who went on to miss from the spot. Though we are no way near as bad as other teams who have mastered the art of "winning" penalties, or wasting time, or harassing the referee. It frustrated me so much hearing that McCarthy was injured against Brighton and didn't stay on the ground to try and halt some momentum.
  5. United sold out to premium members, whilst Spurs went on general sale today. Currently about 80 tickets left for Spurs which I expect will go soon!
  6. Isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing... Time to begin with a clean slate given that almost everyone agrees Ralph belongs in the hot seat for a while yet.
  7. Half time SMS is buzzing today. My first time at Saints since the international break in fairness, but is it just me or has the screens at either end stayed the same? So much for the upgrade. As for the game, atmosphere is class, we’re more than worthy of our lead regardless of Sterling’s miss, let’s keep it up!!!
  8. I believe Dele Alli is in a relationship with his daughter already! I mean it is classic Pep though, he is literally complimentary about every team before he plays them, and then has a cheeky grin on his face after he wins as he knows it was light work.
  9. Even though it says sell out, there are still tickets available that aren't on the Ticket Exchange: Though admittedly, these are all basically singles except for the extortionately priced Block 31 which has about c. 40 seats priced at £89 each!
  10. Joe Willock looked unreal for Newcastle back end of last season, now barely playing. I can't tell you how much I'd like them to go down
  11. Taken from the Athletic.
  12. Also not forgetting Bournemouth spending c. £25m on Lerma, Fulham spending c. £25m on Anguissa or Seri I think, Huddersfield spending £18m on Kongolo, £20m on Brewster by Sheffield United, Stoke spending £22m on Imbula, Swansea spending £21m on Ayew
  13. Betis are playing tonight, currently 3rd in the table... and a certain Juanmi has just scored his 12th goal in the league. Boufal has just scored a penalty for his nation against Gabon, who as it stands are topping the table. Salisu's country Ghana, currently rock bottom and losing to Comoros! Chelsea 1-0 up too, decent goal but Sanchez was beaten at his near post from a long shot, will feel he should have done better.
  14. Yeah I agree, we have 2 players for every position if you include Valery and Smallbone in those squad numbers. Mind you, I’d love to upgrade at GK, CB, wide No. 10 and find an alternative to Romeu but January isn’t the easiest window to find good deals.
  15. This was the referee in our 2-3 FA Cup win over Swansea this month, and also in our 2-2 draw at Palace last month.
  16. Pfft Spurs don't worry me at all... I'd set the starting price at £75m if they paid £55m for Tanguy Ndombele...
  17. Yep although with the amounts they have spent I don’t see them getting relegated, as they are PL capable players, but if Evertonians ever thought they’d propel into a regular top 8 club with those purchases they’re deluded. I’m very glad at their plight, just need Newcastle to also use up their FFP allowance regardless of their owners and that’ll give us a good chance to steal a march if we have a window where we get all our signings right.
  18. This game is live on Sky Sports, coverage from 5pm. Yesterday was disappointing, but time to bounce back. Forster KWP/Tino, Bednarek, Salisu, Perraud Romeu, JWP Stu Armstrong, Redmond Adams, Broja I think despite the error yesterday, Forster will be given another chance. Perraud played well, I’d like him on the left and either Tino/KWP on the right depending on if hes back It’s a toss up between Redmond/Elyounoussi/Tella for me, I’ve gone with Redmond for his workrate even if end product is lacking. Other than that, I expect City to largely keep the ball, but we can definitely get something from this but as Ralph has said before, you need the perfect day against City... the perfect referee, conditions, an opposition mistake etc etc etc Last 5 results shown below:
  19. Look I like statistics and all as much as the next person but stats always need context or else they can be cherry picked to favour specific arguments. These contributions, who were they against for instance? Or are they matchwinning assists or in consolation goals when the game is done? What if Buendia’s passes aren’t capitalised on by his strikers - that wouldn’t be his fault. What about the quality of these goals, did someone else do the hard work to lay off a tap in? (I could go on forever to be honest but I’ll leave it there) Kevin De Bruyne is one of the best in the league but his stats aren’t actually amazing, but his chance creation is so good, as well as his vision and awareness that he often gets the “pre-assists”, things that stats don’t always encapsulate.
  20. Wolves truly mastered the game of shithousery. I dread if all their games are like that as no doubt it contributes to their higher points ranking. I want to say a draw is a fair result, but in truth a GK making an error like that and not converting our chances mean we deserve that. Oh well, draw a line under it, we were always gonna come back to earth.
  21. What difference is there is for example Chelsea sell to us for £5m and put a buyback clause in for £30m, versus selling to us for £25m and putting in a buyback clause for £50m? Both net us a £25m profit/costs Chelsea £25m. The only things I can think of is either for cashflow purposes, or for accounting purposes where you can inflate the asset/player registrations in the financial accounts. But then as I write the above, I think it just makes little business sense for Chelsea to accept a buy-back deal for a prospect who has 4/5 years on his contract... Why would Chelsea want to pay £25m for him in 2 years when they already have him? If they do recall him after this season and he has a terrible 2 years, Chelsea will definitely be able to fetch £20m anyway. Consider the likes of Solanke, Brewster, Ibe etc etc who all roughly went for those amounts and had done very little in the PL to justify those fees. Conclusion = I think best we can hope for is another loan?

  23. I don't think they are doing anything wrong there. The PL wanted to ensure all clubs get their 2 weeks off hence why no postponed fixtures were arranged for the midweek of 26/27 January. What Newcastle do in that break is completely up to them. I still think the PL made a mockery of the rules to allow some suspect postponements in the first place, I blame them but yes there is no doubt there was a lack of integrity from Newcastle, but at the same time I can't blame them for trying in this cut-throat business.
  24. I think he would only be a slight upgrade on Djenepo. He's a player who always seems to be involved and does well against us, but his underlying numbers are pretty poor I think. I'd only consider if price is right, I can imagine Newcastle paying him a lot though.
