  1. I think you will be fine if on Sunday they don't properly look into each QR code. At the Euros all you had to do was flash a QR code, there was no time to check IDs or ask people to whip out their driving licences etc etc and I suspect it will most likely be the case again on Sunday. Have a valid Covid pass ready, wave it to the lackadaisical steward and then proceed to enter the stadium with her and her mums season ticket and I think it'll be alright
  2. or streamed a PL game on the internet 😬
  3. I’d love for that to happen! It had me thinking, we lost by a 2 goal deficit to Everton away, they lost by a 2 goal deficit to a newly promoted team away. Yes they have better players on paper and injuries etc but as a club they’ve spent poorly and their high earners on the face of it seem unmotivated. Just something to keep our spirits high, I’m trying to find any positive spin I can before Sunday
  4. We're struggling to sell seats there isn't many people to give a complimentary gesture to!!! Although, I remember a few at Swansea away back in 2018 nicking the free scarves being given out that perhaps for these people they can have an extra flag (or abacus) for their troubles.
  5. I wonder if the club have a list of targets, and then whisper one or two to Tom Leach, and then the club read Twitter and Saintsweb before confirming ‘Player X is not a target at this time’... 😉
  6. If we buy the best of the Championship, then when we go down we have a team ready to back up. Gao sells at cut price after it happens and then we get promoted and we can be competitive in the PL again under some more ambitious owners Yes I’m dreaming... although I’m not sure it can be classified as a dream if it means we get relegated
  7. Aren't WHU paying Areola their second choice keeper £150k a week as he is on loan? We just have the worst owners in the Premier League severely handicapping us... so frustrating but doesn't get the media coverage the likes of Newcastle, WHU (2/3/4 years ago), and Everton (in the past) get regarding ownership I see no reason why we can't get a GK as a precogitated purchase knowing that next season both are out of contract... it's like no one at the club has any forethought... bet we're scrambling after the JV sale we probably don't even know who we want despite hearing the soundbites of "we have targets"...
  8. A fair few seats left in the £89 padded section... In fact a lot of seats still left in large parts of the ground, only the Itchen South at the £30 price point has sold out, as well as the Itchen Premium
  9. Forster KWP Bednarek Salisu Perraud JWP Romeu S. Armstrong Tella Adams A. Armstrong This is what I'd play.... perhaps even drop Stu into a number 6 position to bring more bodies into midfield. United looked ruthless yesterday and Pogba/Fernandes were fantastic. My prediction will sadly be Saints 1-4 Man United 😟 😟
  10. They should release a t-shirt and market it with #StopTheCount
  11. Arsenal’s line up must be one of the worst I’ve seen for a club of that stature. Who knows, they may surprise but be great if they faltered.
  12. He had a good Euros and a good 1/2 season for us so for many recency bias has kicked in.
  13. I think Vestegaard is better than Nat Phillips, or else at that price Leicester would have gone for him. I’m slightly underwhelmed because I think Nat mainly only stood out due to playing with excellent players around him and a great GK. I think if he joins us he won’t be as good. I was really hoping our scouts would be identifying something special here based off the way we sounded so casual and laid back about the Jannik situation. Plus, bar Ings, Liverpool have made some decent money selling their fringe players. I’d rather we banked the money and attempt to persuade Zouma or Dier to come on loan if a better alternative comes up.
  14. Ability is important of course, but I think particularly with the centre-back position, someone in the mould of Chiellini/Evans/Dawson/Fonte/Thiago Silva/Ramos/Pepe/Kjaer etc etc or an old head can bring more than their ability, in the form of a winning mentality or supervising younger players There are non-tangible benefits that stats can't quantify such as the leadership they'd bring, the ability to reorganise the defence based on their experiences, increased positional sense, composure ,and to make defenders around them look better players. Don't get me wrong, sometimes bringing in an old centreback can be past it and just reaffirms that they are no longer a PL player, but I think it could bring the best out of someone like Salisu if we get the transfer right To me, Bednarek won't get that and both will make mistakes throughout the season. Anyways, we shall see who we do bring in
  15. Fee seems so low, surprising others are not jumping on it. I’d like to think there is a bargain to be had in Europe somewhere. Christiansen, Tarkowski in final year of contract - could we tempt with a £15m-£20m bid? I may sound way off the mark but Leicester have convinced us. Boyata, Saiss, Kjaer (AC Milan), Denayer also all on final year of contract. I worry we’ll end up taking Phil Jones on loan but they did promise reinvestment. I’m not sure I want another Salisu type player, someone experienced would be my preference.
  16. I'm sure the accountants on here can confirm, if we have any, but in our next financial accounts it will still show as a profit right? If we paid £20m for him, he will have amortised down to £5m, so to get £15m is a £10m profit on him? Perhaps why we're happy to just accept £15m? Also perhaps Leicester willing to pay us all up front rather than in instalments? All just speculation.
  17. Peak FF between 2014-2016 was quality. McCarthy has had flashes of brilliance but largely disappoints. My answer solely lies with what Ralph sees in training and in the stats. It doesn't matter who starts this Saturday, all I want is Ralph to pick one GK and stick with it, build some relationship with the defence. None of this rotation rubbish unless someone drops an absolute clanger.
  18. At least £20m for me, I think we should be able to turn a profit with him. Let's see though, a bidding war would be ideal.
  19. In a way, I'm happy he has most likely had an extended break / additional recovery time - he out of everyone deserves it for playing every minute. Just hope he is sharp and match fit by Saturday. I think he will start on Saturday though, he won't want to stop his continuous streak now. I'm happy for Ralph to not give any indication either, can ruse Everton into thinking he won't start.

  21. I'd like Gillingham please or a London club away Otherwise, as always the lowest ranked team left at home!
  22. Because our home form in recent years stretching back from 2016/17 has been awful. So, easy to make the link about whether we’ve given them an advantaged by giving them half an end. Leicester, which has a similar stadium to us situate fans in the corner. Newcastle send you high up close to the Gods. I think Wolves do it quite well too - give the away fans all of the lower tier across the halfway but hard to generate an atmosphere when all spread out.

we need a centre-back only if Vestegaard leaves I'd say. Delaney/CDM and one more full-back I'd be happy with. I'd like to offload some like Shane Long and Elyounoussi too but I think just in case anyone hits a bad run of form we will need every option we can get!

  25. Equally, let's remember who our left wingers were in his final years - Redmond or Djenepo... Not the Mane or Tadic we had in his first 2/4 years at the club.
