  1. Worked hard pressing early. Genuinely looked like he wanted to make a strong first impression. Can't judge him for more than effort because of how little service our attackers got but defensively his effort was good.
  2. Porto are notorious for being hard bargainers. Very very rare to not pay overs for one of their players. I'd rather look elsewhere than deal with them.
  3. Aleksandar Mitrovic? Young at 20yo so matches the club philosophy. Serbian international teammate to Tadic. Plays as a strong targetman so would fit into our system perfectly. Has champions league experience. Wouldn't be cheap but we can easily afford him and plenty of reasons for him to come.
  4. 3-5-2 would be a great formation vs United as I think they play very narrow. We restricted their chances last time and gifted them 2 goals (Fonte/Forster). No reason we can't dominate them in the middle again and keep them scoreless.
  5. Best: Toby Most Improved: Wanyama. Has he passed Morgan? His best this season has been better than Morgan's best.
  6. Good move. Glad he's re-signed.

    Wanyama?

2 years younger than Morgan too. He's only going to get better.
  8. What a result! And what brilliant other results! 3rd, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th all dropped points. All it's missing is Spurs to drop points. Wanyama was phenomenal. A performance like that will draw a lot of attention. JWP - 0 goals in 59 games. Frankly unacceptable for an attacking mid. Coaches need to give serious attention to his finishing or stop him from going into the box. Great deep lying playmaker no doubt.
  9. I look at it as a player with 6 months left on his contract. Cash in now or he walks for cheap. But only if a big offer comes in.
  10. Agreed. Keep him till deadline day.
  11. If a big offer comes in January I think the club should take it. Sure we'd be weaker for the last 5 months but it's a position we have depth in: Wanyama/Cork/Alderweireld all very capable in that DM spot. If we wait until the summer then every club president and his dog will know Morgan is 100% leaving and, unless there's a bidding war, he'll go for less than he's worth.
  12. Japan are expected to make at least SF so Yoshida will be gone all January. Newcastle will be without Cisse, Tiote and Amoebi. Swansea likely to be without Bony.
  13. Vote rigging in Italy? Never..
  14. No car crash. They were just both caught speeding multiple times. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4907788/Werder-Bremen-ban-Marko-Arnautovic-and-Eljero-Elia-for-speeding.html
  15. Signed to fit into our system as the LW player that takes the defence on. We'll now have the depth to go 4-4-2 if Koeman wants to. - - - - - Pelle/Long/Jrod - - - - - Mane/Elia - - - - - - - - Tadic/JWP - - - Morgan/Vic/Davis/Cork - - - I'd prefer Tadic on the left but that's not happening. I think Long prefers playing up front so better for him. Conventional 4-3-3 in tough games with all 3 of Morgan/Vic/Davis but we can play a more attacking lineup at home.
  16. Pelle's card was unpurpose IMO. Maybe it's been affecting his game so could be a relief to finally have the suspension out of the way.

    Top 4

4 points from the next 2 games and we're probably back in top 4 at almost the halfway point. JayRod is weeks away and will give us another decent option off the bench. We just thoroughly outplayed a ManU team in 3rd place, have beaten WestHam (4th), deserved something out of Liverpool and Arsenal and almost snatched a point at Spurs. We're a strong side with the right attributes in the right areas, we'll create chances to win most games and it'll come down to how clinical we can be.

    Yoshida

No nonsense performance tonight. Did his job well. We'll be missing him for quite a while with Japan likely to go all the way in the Asian Cup.
  19. His decision making is rubbish.. Can't decide when to come and when not to. That ball was always his. Interesting that he's looked great when he's been busy with opponents taking lots of shots, and he's looked awful in quiet games. That's a concentration issue.
  20. Villa were never going to score unless we gifted them one. That mistake cost us 2 points. Worst part about it was Forster's positioning, Villa cleared the ball away just outside their penalty box and Forster was inside his 6-yard box.... He should be near the edge of the box for exactly that sort of clearance. Then he can make a decision to go forward to it or drop back towards his goal. Lazy goalkeeping plain and simple. With that said several others had poor performances. Villa defended well, they defended wider than Leicester stopping us from crossing as much, and when we did cross it was under pressure and poor delivery. After they scored they dropped so deep which I think nullifies Mane & Long a lot. Their best asset is hitting the offside trap at pace and they couldn't do that. You look at the goals Long scored vs Leicester; the 1st was a horizontal burst into space between the defence/midfield line, the 2nd was breaking the offside trap. With those 2 nullified our game relies on Bertrand & Clyne to make overlap runs and cross, or Pelle to layoff to someone. Pelle getting double-teamed and tightly marked out of the game and you can see why it's so hard for us to get that 1st goal against teams parking the bus. I have no doubt our attacking players will look 100x better in the next 3 games when they have space to do what they do.
  21. He's yet to do anything to prove he's better than Boruc, but I still give him the benefit of the doubt because he hasn't had a chance. Before tonight we'd faced 24 shots on goal in 11 games. At this stage it's $10m unnecessarily spent but the next 5 weeks will be the real test. We'll all have a better idea then.
  22. The advantage of a stepping stone club is having the ability to bring in untested players with huge potential. The big clubs often can't risk someone that's yet to prove themselves on the big stage. Tadic is a perfect example. Apparently scouted by everyone and linked with top clubs years ago but no one was prepared to take a punt with him. The same applies for youth players.
  23. 0-0 draw. Schneiderlin and Wanyama would keep stealing the ball off Schneiderlin and Wanyama.
