Welcome, Ron Atkinson. -
Saints V Wycombe Wanderers - First half and half-time chat.

I thought we'd gone a goal down then as I was only half listening and the ball was put in the net by a player whose name I didn't recognise. Turns out Pompey scored. Bloody Solent. Still, at least Villa equalised immediately. -
I was thinking about renewing my subscription to this forum. I hadn't bothered because I didn't want to pay to read some of the negative, ill-informed, change-like-the-wind tosh on here. It's been better lately but it only takes a couple of games without a win to bring it out again. As demonstrated by this post and quite a few in yesterday's reaction thread. Honestly, we've been on the best run I can remember. We lost to Brighton because we didn't play well. It happens to all teams once in a while. Ask Alex Ferguson. Yesterday we played well and so did Norwich. I think it was a fair result. As for Lambert, as has been said he's been ill. But I saw him tackling back, active in the box and even taking the ball down the wing. As for putting the other two in the reserves to "sharpen them up", I think you might be saying that for a "look at me" effect. I'll hang on to my fiver for now.

When I said Harding, I meant Lambert. Doh!

Ah but, in "some people's opinion" he played the formation that they thougt he should always play at home and I didn't think that the subs were particuarly poor. I'd call it an off day for some the players rather then the manager: notably Trottman and Harding (by their standards). I've not seen either of them have a bad game before but I guess it happens to all players eventually. Norwich will be a test. But even if we lose I won't be writing off our season or Pardew. I can't remember the last time we went eight games without defeat and won seven of those.

I have to say this foreign chap pronounces the players' names better than Merrington. -
I know some people on here are on a wind-up and I shouldn't encourage tham but, in case anyone is seriously thinking we shouldn't 'grass' on these people, here's my 2 cents worth. If I had witnessed an assault and could identify any of those involved I would go to the police with that information. If the people accused of the assault can demonstrate to the police, or failing that to the court, that what they did was self-defence then good luck to them. The point is that the police should be helped to compile any evidence, the PCS should decide whether there is enough evidence to prosecute and the courts should decide whether or not the suspects are guilty. And, if so, they should lockthem up!

Loved the reaction of the moron behind the goal flinging his arms out as though Lambert had missed by a mile from 5 yards.
-
Well done.

The difference, I think, is that he was actually at the game and therefore can form a more balanced view than somebody who is just looking at the result. Obviously, over a season, we want to win more games than we lose but even the best teams are going to lose sometimes - either to a superior team or, as in this case, to what appears to have been an excellent goal late on. The signs at the Bristol game were largely positive and I think most would have been happy with the draw it very nearly was. We've shown since we can regain a lead and come back from two down. It's looking good. This may come as a shock to some (including me).

Lambert was astonishing and very unselfish. His first touch is brilliant and he laid off some great balls to others. Took his goal well too. Evrybody played pretty well after the dodgy first 20 minutes or so. Wooton did well as well. I just tyoed that because it's not something people say very often. Well done to all.

Boxing? I mean outside the ring as well as inside. It seems to kick off regularly there. Not that it makes football-associated violence any more excusable. And Yeovil FFS? All I saw were bunches of families on a nice day out in the sun, having their photos taken by the statue of Ted Bates etc. Why do some idiots have to spoil it?

I can't remember the last time I saw Saints win and so I don't know quite what to do now. But I'm feelong very happy. And are Portsmouth now officiallyworse than Derby County?

Is it possible we have a picture of a train somewhere about the club we could take to show them? -
Tony Adams? For the backroom or the back line?
-
Completely agree. We're not so well off for players we can go getting rid of people as good as these two will be in this league. Of course, this is only Star speculation probably planted by their agents.

What he said.

I had one when I was 11 (41 years ago). I lived in London at the time but my Dad was a Saints fan so I just wrote to the club and asked if they had any badges. I think I enclosed about 25p and the club sent me one of those. It did cause some ridicule among my Charlton and Millwall supporting schoolmates but I was really proud to wear it.

Sitting with the fans? Will he be swilling lager like Mike Ashley?
-
Bloody hell. Are you using Richmond's keyboard with the extra full stop keys?
-
This sort of thing doesn't make me proud to be a Saints fan. He stood by us when there was no certainty he would get paid and acted with dignity. While I admit to being excited at who we might get instead, the least we could have done would have been to offer Mark his old job back with the youngsters. Shabby, Mr Oldknow, shabby.

Did he not mention the catering?

Are you in a different region? I saw it. They mentioned Liebherr and said he was buying the club for £13 miiion. They also interviewed enthusiastic, if a little incoherent, fans at Totton.
