In the USA the Bundesliga is broadcast by FOX which seems to be deliberating not exploiting it to the fullest. Their promotion is not very effective compared to NBC's promotion of the Premier League and you pretty much have to pay $20 a month to get all the games live on an app. Since I am not paying that I do not know whether the games remain available to watch later like the Premier League games on NBC. Given all this I don't seem the popularity of the Bundesliga rising enough in the USA in the near future to compete financially with the Premier League. Plus, the English language is a big advantage too.

Actually, it sounds like a perfect illustration of being a thing. That is also a thing.

Can we all vote to pick the charities or do you get to pick them?

Everton, Southampton and West ham the premier leagues new middle class
Redslo replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
The issues is purely a mathematical one based upon performance in Europe (including the Europa League) over the past five years. There is no formal decision making involved. I wrote about it on my blog in June. http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/2015/06/englands-coefficient-problems.html Possibly I should do an update but the current numbers can be found here: http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2016.html Basically England is ahead of Italy for the 2017-2018 extra Champions League spot purely based upon the good results from 2011-2012. Those good results go away when considering 2018-2019. Also, England is facing something of a disadvantage as this year progresses because England has six clubs still in Europe, but they points they earn are divided by 8 whereas Italy has 5 clubs playing whose points are divided by 6. http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/ccoef2016.html On the other hand, it is a bit easier to earn points in the Champions League than the Europa League if you can qualify for the knockout round so England has a slight edge there if three or four clubs can progress. This is explained here: http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/calc.html#details -
Friedel is busy talking on American television. He would not be available to us. But probably you were joking.

Saints position the day Marty McFly left for the future in 1985.

Where did Southampton stand when Marty McFly arrived back in the past? -
I just posted “Predictions 2015-2016 (Round 10)” with more of my remarkably inaccurate predictions generated by my seemingly badly flawed prediction system.

Maybe this was just so we can get a larger fee from Villa.
-
Except there will have to be some caution until the club knows how the new TV contract will effect the salary cap. Of course, the club may already know that but I don't think the information has been made public.
-
I don't disagree. I am just saying that in the future he should call referees weak and naïve whenever he wants to criticize them for any reason.
-
I do think that Mourinho should complain about referees in the future simply by calling them weak and naïve. It will be interesting to see what happens.
-
Maybe they will sign him on loan as an emergency goal keeper.

Don't underestimate the influence of concussions and parents wanting to protect their kids here. Football has concussions but American Football and Ice Hockey are built on concussions. More and more parents will not let their kids play those sports. When this change takes full effect soccer may become the big North American sport.

You probably need to schedule a friendly against Seattle, Los Angeles, or, maybe, the Red Bulls in New York to make good money. Or maybe tour with other PL clubs. If we toured with Swansea and West Ham (playing each of them once and one MLS club) it might bring in good money.
-
There are really only three ways for Southampton FC to make money in America. The obvious one is to play in Europe regularly and the Champions League sometimes. The related obvious one is to get invited to play in good money preseason friendlies in the United States. The third is to have a popular top American play as a regular starter. Everton has a following in the USA because of Tim Howard. Fulham had a following for a while because of Clint Dempsey. On the other hand, Joey Altidore didn't help Sunderland much. Much as I hate to admit it, right now there are no American national team players who would be available and good enough to start for us. (Yedlin might work out that way for the Spurs in the next few years.) Nevertheless, the Black Box should always be looking at plausible American candidates who have played the necessary 75% of recent US competitive international matches or who would require a high enough transfer fee to get a work permit.
-
I am sure Caulker was told (correctly) that he would have the chance to prove that he deserved to start. So far he hasn't done that but I am sure if he started to outshine Yoshida and Fonte in practice he would be given a look in.
-
And we might not be as vulnerable to injuries as we were the past two seasons.

I know nothing about UK taxes so I will use USA taxes as an example here. Capital gains are taxed at a lower rate than ordinary income. The supposed purpose of this is to encourage people make investments for the future growth of the economy. Thus, long term capital gains (investments held over a year) are taxed at a lower rate than short term capital gains. Taking advantage of this is in no way morally ambiguous even if you, for example, put off selling an investment a few days to get it over the one year mark. On the other hand, much of the expert legal advice put into the tax avoidance industry is directed at finding ways to turn ordinary income into long term capital gains. This is morally wrong (not just ambiguous) but it is a regular business practice. The fact that the law allows some such transactions is due to the fact that no matter what rules you create someone will find a way to use them to their benefit. (And rich people have more access to the politicians who set the rules.) The most prominent current example is the way hedge fund managers are paid with an increased interest in their hedge fund which they are allowed to treat as a capital gain.

I thought it was worth posting that paragraph before it got changed back: Steven Davis (born 1 January 1985) is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Southampton and is the captain of the Northern Ireland national team. Davis is also an absolute hero who scored 2 goals against the Greeks to take Northern Ireland to their first major tournament. Cheers Steve you beautiful little man. Davis made his full international debut in 2005 and has since been capped 77 times at senior level, scoring seven goals.
