What about the tolerance of homosexuality? Why should that be a problem?

What I don’t like is that many people who say they support them don’t seem to understand what they stand for. For example it is well understood by people who have followed Farage’s career that he is racist. Somehow you don’t see that. You say the ban is “pathetic” but would you be happy with some of the people who have been thrown out of Reform for clear race hate comments on that platform? If Reform didn’t attract so many deeply unpleasant people with deeply abhorrent views to their ranks maybe they wouldn’t have this problem. Again, as some people don’t seem able to understand English. I don’t agree with the ban myself. Incidently, I have seen Reform representatives totally embarrassed in debates with University students so I don’t understand the ban.

Why would I? I wouldn’t have a problem with an Islamic representative talking about religion anywhere. Are you referring to someone preaching hate based on their religious beliefs which is something completely different? I said that Reform should not be banned so really don’t know what your problem is.

What is pathetic? Keeping hate out of universities? I don’t agree though that they were banned. Get them on the stage and show how despicable they are through debate and argument.

Newspapers used to run opinion pieces inside the pages and kept them separate from the basic news stories. Now they run opinions on the front pages instead of news headlines. The dumbing down started in the 90’s and now it is all about getting your message across in short hits and sound bites. Getting our country back, stop the boats, a picture of a bus with give the NHS £345m a week on the side. It worked for Trump with MAGA. It seems that his crowd have an even shorter attention span.

The first of four episodes of Lord of the Flies aired on BBC1 tonight. It was essential reading for us at school back in the 60’s and although I haven’t revisited the book since then, from the first shots of Piggy it brings it all back to life. Unless they (the government) are Liz Truss/Boris Johnson grade thick you would imagine that the commission will find this is the case in the enquiry. Those of the further left persuasion will be delighted as McSweeney is far too centrist for their liking (as is Starmer). Strange that many of the people who are now calling out the Mandelson appointment as a disaster either didn’t say a word at the time or actually supported it. Farage gave it a glowing thumbs up as did several Tories. While they are all busy doing “politics” perhaps someone should be looking at the files with a view to finding criminality with regards to sex trafficking, paedophilia, insider trading, disclosure of state secrets etc. Whatever you think of Keir Starmer, he is a decent, honourable man. I wouldn’t be surprised if he follows McSweeney out of the door soon.

As with Trump, they make up their own rules as the go along. Trump could have ended this war months ago if he had put proper pressure on Putin and given Ukraine the firepower to hit Russia harder, but they are like peas in a pod.
