Interesting that a number of people say they voted for Reform because the main two parties are “horrible”. If so why vote for a party that is even more horrible than both of them put together? Wouldn’t the LibDems have been a better choice for a protest vote for the non racists? Perhaps we’re are not the tolerant country that some would have us believe we are? An in-depth look at the vote by the BBC showed that Reform was very popular by those who voted for Brexit and Johnson. No surprise there other than despite being proved as a complete disaster for the country, the same people still support both! Rupert Lowe wrote a very scathing piece on X about Reform and there lack of policies (other than anti immigration). Someone here said that he was further right than Farage. Judging by his posts he is further right than Hitler. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/may/02/runcorn-byelection-voter-displeasure-disengagement-reform-uk

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
sadoldgit replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Not sure about that. One canvasser on the radio yesterday said that people on the doorstep were openly saying that “we are letting too many brown people into the country.” Also, although the “small boat people” are a small percentage of immigrants arriving here, they are the ones being weaponised and the ones most people think of. Why? Because they are brown (and “men of fighting age” according to the Faragists). What Trump and Farage and others like them have done is given people permission to be openly racist. This “war on woke” speaks volumes. It isn’t a war on woke at all. It is an excuse to spout openly far right rhetoric. All this crap about “free speech”. It hasn’t gone unnoticed that to these people “free speech” means the freedom to spew openly abhorrent shit as widely as possibly. Speak against and you, yourself, will find your own “freedom of speech” taken away. What happened yesterday was no surprise after the way the USA has descended in the pit after Trump's election. We do have a chance to turn things around before the next GE but as has been said, Starmer has to grow a pair and grasp the nettles that he has been avoiding thus far. -
Didn’t Trump refer to American soldiers who were killed, wounded or captured in combat as “losers”?

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

Whatever you thought about your County Councils before, most of them now are going to be run by people who haven’t got any experience in running a CC. We have been laughing at the mess Trump is making of the US. Buckle up. -
The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

Which is why they get the difficult decisions out of the way early. They would have expected a kicking in yesterday’s polls. The Tories got by far the biggest kicking though. It’s quite incredible how a party that has been so strong in local government over so many years have been wiped off the map. Farage has a massive problem now. He has chipped away from the sidelines for years. Now he is under the microscope big time and has to show he can deliver. He will fail spectacularly because he has nothing but hatred of immigrants in his locker. -
Mixed news. Great to see the Tories finally lose control of Kent CC. On the down side it is now going to be run by a bunch of Faragist henchmen and women. Still, if it means that the odious Badenoch’s days are numbered as Tory leader that is one cloud with a silver lining. Unless she is replaced by Jenrick of course.

If your intellect was as large as you pretend it is you would understand the difference between “pious virtue signalling” and treating fellow human beings decently. I expect hypodermic will be in the next plane to Spain to start a campaign with the Spanish authorities to make sure that all expats learn Spanish and if they refuse, have them exported. As you have been told before, the vast majority of migrants just want to live in peace. Who cares if they build mosques to practice their religion apart from people like you and Muslim hating hypo? You reckon it’s not racists to say that they shouldn’t? It is certainly Islamophobic. For someone who does not live here, you certainly harbour some unpleasant views. If you have a faith I hope that you practice the same religion as your “Asian” wife?

https://www.thefa.com/news/2025/may/01/fa-transgender-policy-update-statement-supreme-court-ruling-20250105 Seems harsh to me. I can understand why it should happen in professional football and even in the higher levels of amateur football perhaps, but what difference does it make for those playing park football? We would occasionally come up against “ringers” (higher quality players brought in specifically for certain games) and there was always big gaps between skill and physicality of certain players in the men’s park games. We aren’t talking about many people either, it isn’t like there will be a full team of trans women. What are women who have transition supposed to do if they love to play football? Join a men’s team?

And the usual idiots find the last post funny. You have to wonder what goes on between their ears, if anything at all. You can understand how people like Trump and Farage get votes when people like this are around. So oppression is ok so long as you do it under an Israeli flag? Israeli reservists speak out against the war. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crldw5gklrro.amp

The current and previous owners have been slagged off for not knowing anything about football. What makes Sunak a better prospect (apart from his wife’s money)? And before you say ‘at least he is a fan’, just look at the opinions of some of the fans on here. Would you let them loose on the club?

I think that his point is that these are areas that, unless you have piles of cash and the pull of a name like Manchester United, you can easily get wrong. Just look at the number of managers who get sacked every season. There are plenty of transfers that don’t work out too. They are there to employ people to do this. Again, you are reliant in making the right choice which is usually dependent on what sized pool you can fish in. Even when we were doing much better in the Prem there criticism of the managers and recruitment. Look where the likes of United, Tottenham and WHU are this season. Nothing is nailed on, and the less money you have to burn, the more limited your chances are of getting to majority of decisions right. We have had a crap season but so have Ipswich and Leicester. Our owners aren’t alone in making the poor choices department

It is a decision that you are not likely to change your mind about though is it. The process takes a long while which gives people plenty of time to think about it. From what I understand, by the time most people reach the point where they start the transgender process, they are just desperate to get it done. It is very easy to judge if you are not in that position, but for those who believe they have been born into the wrong body, perhaps we should listen to them and respect their decision. As for the city’s decision, it just makes matters worse. This judge, despite living as a woman and doing nobody any harm, is expected to go into a Gents toilet. Can you imagine the reaction? I get that women want their safe places, but how are they at risk from a trans woman who no longer has men’s sex organs? Recently there was a story about a lesbian who attacked women in women’s loos. Imagine if you are a women and someone walks into the loo you are in with a beard and clearly looking every inch a man? Has this person been born a woman or is it a man pretending to have been born a women. Are we going to have sec police in toilets checking that everyone as the right “equipment” for that particular loo? We seem to be at the same point as with migrants in small boats. We are lead to believe that they are mostly terrorists and rapists - “young men of fighting age” is the way they are described by those wanting to demonise them. Trans people now are painted mostly as people trying to use that identity to commit sex crimes. There will always be people trying to use situations for their own nefarious reasons. I think it is fair to say that the vast majority of transgender people just want to live their lives in peace and don’t cause anybody else any problems.

I’m assuming that they wouldn’t be looking at dimming the sun over fields of solar panels. I also believe that modern solar panels don’t need direct sunlight to charge up either. Still, if it keeps the hard of thinking amused then it can’t do much harm.
-
But you were completely ok with Batshit Boris and Looney Liz? With regard to solar power, do you think it makes sense to develop our own sustainable energy resources (and cheaper power) or would you rather rely on the likes of Putin to mess with prices and supplies?
-
I’ve read elsewhere that AI has valued the club at around £250m. Could well be bs but if it is remotely close it would seem that the original price mentioned is nonsense.

A local company, Chapel Down, claim that their sparkling wine is now better than Champagne because the climate here is now what it used to be there. Why do you find that funny nutty nic? Some evidence for you. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/english-sparkling-wines-challenge-supremacy-champagne-francethanks-climate-change-180974057/

The truth of the situation is that the CoT are going to buy the club and the “hundreds of them” are collectively looking down the back of their sofas as we speak. 😎

It’s good to see, at last, something good to be associated to the Mango Manbaby.
-
I think that we can safely say that it is a massive cock.
-
And how many of them were “of fighting age” or women? Not that being a young man has the slightest baring on whether they are acceptable asylum seekers of course.
-
Indeed. You would think that someone with such a massive intellect would not bother with mere mortals like me. Sadly his intellect isn’t as massive as he would have us believe. He calls me pious yet I have expressed, nor do I have, any religious beliefs. Go look up the definition of pious nic.
-
It would be, but it hasn’t happened in the 60 years I have been supporting the club so I’m not holding my breath. My guess is another play off or a shaky second place.
