Even if he gets us promoted some people will still slag him off. Boom boom.

But what happens in the years between these elections? If Trump had his way there wouldn’t be another election anyway. Israel has elections yes, but look who is in power. In order to stay in power he is having to bend over to even farther right factions than himself. You don’t have to go as far as a bloody revolution, although I some cases would that be a bad thing? Passive resistance can force change. When the people (including the armed forces) stop doing what the governing body tell them to do, what power do they have?
-
Of course, and I have done so. Do you think that the Israeli response to the attack on 7th October is proportionate? Do you think that beheading people with a blade is any different to blowing their bodies to bits with shells, bombs and missiles?

What is your issue with this? I have heard plenty of Jewish people make the same point. It acknowledges that the fact that they have faced an enormous amount of persecution over many years, but that does not give anyone the right to do the same thing to others. I stood by the statement then, I stand by it even more now. As for loosely calling people Islamophobic, there is nothing loose about it. There are some posters in here who clearly hate Muslims. Hypocondriac is one (who can forget his classic quote, “Thank God my wife isn’t Muslim”?). He also said that all Muslims were guilty by association with terrorists because they didn’t go to the police with information (as if all Muslims know what the terrorists are planning). There is also something particularly sick about people who post laughing emojis after posts about dead Palestinian women and children. I seem to remember you saying that everyone in Gaza deserves what they get because they are all associated with Hamas in some way. I would argue that tarring all Muslims with the same brush is somewhat Islamophobic. I think that most people can see a difference between murderous bastards and normal, peace loving people. It has nothing to do with race, creed or religion and everything to do with how the individuals conduct themselves towards others be they Jewish, Muslim, Christian, whatever. Do you find anything controversial in that statement? If people want to follow a God and a certain religion, that is their business. When they use that as an excuse to persecute, kill and displace people (no matter who they are) then that is something that should not be tolerated. Would you agree?

Why, why is no one capable of seeing through conspiracy theory brainwashing nic? As for being amazingly clever yourself, you started the sentence in lower case. You asked a question but didn’t end the sentence with a question mark. What on earth does, ‘All those amazingly think clever people who think they know’ even mean? OMG.

Clearly not all Israelis are “horrible”, but the settlers who are displacing Palestinians in the West Bank area and those who support Netanyahu and his cronies in his administration are deeply unpleasant people. You have to wonder about countries where people allow these atrocities to happen in their name. There are decent people in Russia, North Korea, China too (and you can add the USA to the list now), but you have to wonder about countries that allow despotic regimes to rule them. I’d have more respect for the people of these countries if they did more to change what is happening in their countries for the better.

You should have been on here when it all kicked off then. I think you would have a different attitude. I was called an anti semite because I said that nothing happens in a vacuum after the attack by Hamas and that there were no guys in white hats and black hats in this situation.
-
If I had said this a year ago this thread would be full of replies calling me an anti-Semite. It shows just how thinks have descended into a new hell that there has been no response. The actions of Netanyahu’s army, increasingly since the fateful events of 7th October, are starting to make the antisemite card unplayable. If Starmer and Lammy had made these comments this time last year there would have been an outcry from certain, very loud, quarters that they were anti semites. What we have, very plainly now, is someone in Netanyahu who will go down in history with other infamous, murderous aggressors. It was clear from the beginning that he was using the Hamas attack as an excuse to destroy Gaza and to take more land in the West Bank. An Israeli caller on a phone in show this morning made the point about how Israelis crave land and how they are using 2000 years of oppression to try and mitigate their behaviour on the world stage. It has taken too long, but perhaps now the West will stop arming a nation that is out of control morally and legally under international law.

I am not sure that they are trying to be seen as being geniuses. The object is to recruit someone who is going to be a good fit for the club going forward. There is a tranche of managers who will always be out of our reach which leaves a list of managers who have experience but have been sacked a number of times for not achieving and a list of up and coming managers who have potential. Some clubs go for tried and tested, some go for potential. There is a risk with both. I don’t have a problem with going for potential. The next tranche of higher level managers is out there. It is just a question of finding them.

It is a shame that tougher action hasn’t been taken against Netanyahu sooner. Not sure why it has taken so long to realise what is going on here and that he doesn’t plan to stop the killing and destruction any time soon. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/czxy19n4kpyo.amp

Didn’t Rohl leave under dubious circumstances? If that was the case, did we ever find out what they were?

That isn’t my point and I’m sure you know it. You used to stalk me. Then you stalked Farmer. Is it my turn again?

Fair enough.

There are plenty of people who are “shit at writing English” on here too. So what? Can we not comment about them either? You know exactly the point I was making. It had nothing to do with his wife and everything to do with the poster. You just chose to ignore the obvious and turn it into something else. For all I know, his wife (if she exists as I still think this account is a wind up) has better English than I do. I’ll say it again and for the last time - the poster tells us that he is smarter than the rest of us yet his post was very badly written and not something you would expect from someone as “smart” as him. He previously brought his (alleged) Asian wife into the debate when using that as evidence that he is not racist. I get things that I post thrown back at me all the time. Funny that a few of you get so precious about this poster. Or are you just using him for your own purposes? I expect Turkish is getting bored with his long running spat with MLG and is desperate for fresh meat.
-
It’s amazing isn’t it. The same people who got upset about BLM or players taking the knee are now calling out making light of not having the perfect use of a language as racism. I guess we have Donald Trump to thank for the fact that any form of attack is justifiable even if it makes you a steaming hypocrite in the process.
-
You had better avoid the manager’s thread Weston. There is an awful lot “gingerism” going on there. How exactly is it racist to make a point about poor use of English anyway? People make fun at other people’s attempt at foreign languages, or even there own, all the time. Sacha Baron Cohen has made a career out of it. Would you call him a racist? Face it. You were just desperate to have a dig. I think that most people with a few brain cells to rub together could see that I was poking fun at the poster (who claims to be smarter than the rest of us) and not his wife.
-
Every manager appointment comes with a risk (granted, some more than others!). Despite the dreadful season this is still a good job prospect for certain types of managers. Of course we are never going to attract those at the very top of the food chain.
-
And you never do? Didn’t you call me a racist earlier for asking the question of, supposedly, the smartest bloke on here who had just delivered a very badly written post whether his wife (if she actually exists), who very possibly doesn’t have English as her first language, had written it? If that is not playing the poster, what is? Anyway, you are getting likes from nic, which speaks volumes.

I don’t think you can call saying “alternatively” an agreement. My point was that we already had a perfectly good deal whilst members of the EU and now are trying to scrape together smaller, less positive deals. I don’t see anything in his post agreeing with mine.
-
Just heard a couple of fishermen moaning about the deal. No mention of the fact that it will make it easier to sell their catches to the EU countries. No mention either of the deal made in December to allow the UK to 300,000 tons of fish in the North Sea. Positive noises made from the fishing body in Scotland over the improved situation for the salmon industry.
-
We still haven’t made any deals that were anything close to what we lost when we left the EU. But, yay, we make make lesser deals with anyone we choose.

Only from the usual suspects, Little Englanders, right wing media consumers and tribalists. Which of these are you?
