Milk the system? None of us have got any idea but I am prepared to bet that the vast majority of people on benefits are not milking the system. Have you ever tried to get benefits?
-
How do you know just how many people who are taking benefits should not be receiving them? Given the massive leap in the cost of living in the UK over the last few years, don’t you think that many a “responsible tax payer” has found themselves in need?

He’s a proper journalist though! 😂

I thought that you were shacked up in Thailand with nic? My bad if not. The point was that Thailand is more of an authoritarian place to live than the UK. Do you have a problem with improving law and order in the UK? The only people who will have a problem with facial recognition will be those who have done something wrong. We are currently constantly caught on CCTV, door cameras, dashcams etc. Do you have a problem with those? You ignored my constant request to explain what my extremist views are. You are a bit of a hypocrite aren’t you?

Pretty much, yes, although I catch up with some of it now on Planet Rock. Our 6th form common room was directly above the Headmaster’ office. The Upper 6th used to bring in albums by Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, The Nice etc. The noise must have driven him to distraction, but he never complained, bless him. (Ear plugs, probably). -
The whole episode was a disaster yet it doesn’t seem to making the news as much as Rachel Reeves’ chess championship claim and Angela Raynor’s faux par. No surprises that Johnson’s handling of the pandemic has been heavily criticised, but there are some people who should be facing criminal charges for corruption. Who would have thought that Eat Out To Help Out would have spread the virus more widely? 🙄 If a Labour government had done the same this thread’s page count would be into double figures by now.

As a spotty youth back in 1969/70 I was into what was called in those days hard or heavy rock; Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Groundhogs etc. By the mid 70’s I was thoroughly bored with the genre, sold all my albums and listened to other stuff. I was convinced that it would die a death soon. Fifty plus years later and “heavy” music is still a thing. Mind you, I thought that rap music was going to be a five minute wonder, so what do I know? -

Remind me Ralph, do they still have the death penalty in Thailand?

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
sadoldgit replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Farage is only two years younger than Starmer and has been on TikTok longer but he didn’t think that worth a mention. In fact, apparently Farage is the most “clout heavy” politician on the site. -
The fact that you get a like from your separated at birth twin speaks volumes. Still, it’s good to know that two people who live so far away are so expert at what is happening in the UK.
-
And yet you don’t seem to have a problem with Donald Trump, who is clearly mad, or Farage. 🤷🏻 Are you ever going to tell me what my extreme views are?
-
If there was any doubt that Trump is in Putin’s pocket. https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2025/12/7/russia-welcomes-trumps-revised-us-security-strategy

They want the viewing figures so it doesn’t make any sense to fiddle the vote. The best way to gauge the most popular campmates is via the voting system. By kicking out the least popular members one by one day by day they should, in theory, keep the viewing high to the end. It’s not a show like The Traitors or X Factor though. It’s less about who wins and more about how a bunch of people interact for 3 weeks outside of a normal environment.

Always a delight to get a laughing emoji from the other side of the world, but I was referring to the other person who follows me around here like a lost sheep and if he is not having a pop himself he is liking posts of those who do. Very sad.

It was just my opinion. Egg thinks that The Beatles are “shit.” I love them. Each to his/her own. The thread is all about not liking something that is generally popular. -
A bit early to hit the bottle isn’t it Whelk? Not to early for the forum emoji stalker though I see.

I think that the irony is lost on them. I guess they don’t mind the Christian sex offenders because they are “one of us.”
-
That was a low point, but the show isn’t about who wins it, it’s about the process and I’m sure there is a fair proportion of the audience who don’t bother to vote.
-
At the risk of upsetting people who don’t like the use of the term “the far right” a certain high profile “far right” protagonist is continuing to hijack Christianity to further his movement’s agenda. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/dec/07/church-of-england-campaign-challenging-tommy-robinson-put-christ-back-into-christmas-message Given that Christmas is based on the celebration of the birth of Christ, I’m not sure that Christ needs to be put back into Christmas does he? I attended a carol service yesterday and every single carol we sung celebrated the birth of the baby Jesus. Have I missed something?

It’s not getting any better for poor old Nigel. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15361975/amp/Nigel-Farage-reported-police-claim-election-fraud-Clacton.html

Best series for years. Good to see the camp mates get on so well through the whole three weeks and they all clearly had a blast. Although he didn’t win, Tom will soon be a star. You do wonder how long they can keep repeating the same old formula, but this year showed that there is still life in the old kangaroo’s penis yet.
