You made this point before about why there was so much coverage about the POTUS and US politics over on this side of the pond. Given what is happening with Trump I am surprised that you are still banging this particular drum. Do you really need it to be explained to you again?
  2. I think the point is that any manager worth his salt is going to see what his options are before making any hasty decisions. We may well already have made an offer to his agent but if his agent is not as dumb as Trump he will wait and see what his options are before he and his client make any decisions. Will he want to come if he has better options on the table?
  3. No one is saying that they did. My point is, again, that I wonder if all of the people who voted for them knew what, exactly, they were voting for (apart from stopping the boats, which they can’t do anyway). As for the banning flags from council buildings other than the Union flag and the flag of St. George. I get that they are against diversity and want to be seen as against “woke”, but surely taking down the Ukrainian flags sends the wrong message? Unless Farage doesn’t want to upset Putin of course.
  4. I was thinking more about the people who voted Reform that wouldn’t normally go that far. I agree that there are those who are very happy with their choices.
  5. It starts. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/reform-ukraine-flags-farage-b2745470.html#

Those who pretend that we are not witnessing a genocide will not have a problem with Netanyahu’s latest moves. https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2025/may/06/israel-gaza-war-latest-live-news-benjamin-netanyahu-hamas-palestine
  7. Sadly the people who need to watch this won’t.
  8. For those worried about what happened at last week’s polls, this is worth reading. For those still popping champagne corks, don’t bother. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/may/05/reform-minorities-labour-british-public-keir-starmer
  9. Nothing to worry about here, eh guys? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14679281/amp/Putins-spies-Parliament-Three-Bulgarians-convicted-spying-Russia-pictured-sitting-Westminster.html
  10. I’m glad you don’t live here either, although I think they would welcome you in Dover. If the local population wanted the person they voted for to stop the boats they are going to be very disappointed. It is quite worrying that people vote for councillors yet seem to have little idea what they are actually responsible for. On the Reform flyer for the local councillor it talked about stopping the boats. The Home Office are responsible for immigration, not the local councillors.
  11. https://news.sky.com/story/amp/trump-calls-for-reopening-of-alcatraz-to-house-most-ruthless-and-violent-offenders-13362068 Perhaps he is thinking of having it done up like Mar-a-Lago for when he finally gets put behind bars?
  12. One the local newsgroup this morning was a post about the local having its used vegetable oil stolen (apparently it can be turned into fuel like diesel). There is a picture of the guys involved and several local business have said they have had their used oil stolen too. One local posted that “now we have Reform on the council perhaps they will do something about the European 💩👽that are ruining our country”. Not sure what a poo alien is but I’m guessing it is not complimentary!
  13. Oops! Not the best start Andrea. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/farage-reform-council-diversity-officers-local-elections-lincolnshire-jenkyns-b2744308.html
  14. Just read an interview with a new Kent county councillor. He said out of 57 of them only 6 have previous political experience. He has already been asked when he is going to stop the boats. He and the people who voted for him are in for a rude awakening.
  15. No doubt these guys will be celebrating Reform’s success at the polls. https://www.theoldhamtimes.co.uk/news/25120013.far-right-group-hosts-hitler-birthday-party-royton-pub/
  16. Plenty of people have concerns about “who we are letting in to our society” as you put it. It doesn’t make them racist. Saying that people who are clearly racist are not racist doesn’t make them non-racist. You do know that you are in more danger from people already in our society and well defined as indigenous than those we are “letting in to our society, don’t you? Lol.
  17. I’ve just read that Spitfire crash landed in a field near Hythe yesterday evening. It’s an omen!!!
  18. Imagine what is is like being surrounded by people like Lord Duckhunter, Turkish, hypochondriac and ease-end-nic. 🤪. It’s been bad enough having these nutters invading the local newsgroups with their racist bile. Now some of them are actually running the council. How long before they form a militia and have them spread along the Kent beaches wielding pitchforks? Sod the potholes and broken local services, let’s just sort out the foreigners. There are a few houses for sale in the village. I expect Batman et al might be interested. What next? The local ale house changing its name to the Farage Arms and being frequented by gammons and “nine pinters”? We’re doomed I tell you! Doomed! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
  19. Interesting that a number of people say they voted for Reform because the main two parties are “horrible”. If so why vote for a party that is even more horrible than both of them put together? Wouldn’t the LibDems have been a better choice for a protest vote for the non racists? Perhaps we’re are not the tolerant country that some would have us believe we are? An in-depth look at the vote by the BBC showed that Reform was very popular by those who voted for Brexit and Johnson. No surprise there other than despite being proved as a complete disaster for the country, the same people still support both! Rupert Lowe wrote a very scathing piece on X about Reform and there lack of policies (other than anti immigration). Someone here said that he was further right than Farage. Judging by his posts he is further right than Hitler. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/may/02/runcorn-byelection-voter-displeasure-disengagement-reform-uk
  20. Trump as Pope. WTF? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdrg8zkz8d0o.amp
  21. Not sure about that. One canvasser on the radio yesterday said that people on the doorstep were openly saying that “we are letting too many brown people into the country.” Also, although the “small boat people” are a small percentage of immigrants arriving here, they are the ones being weaponised and the ones most people think of. Why? Because they are brown (and “men of fighting age” according to the Faragists). What Trump and Farage and others like them have done is given people permission to be openly racist. This “war on woke” speaks volumes. It isn’t a war on woke at all. It is an excuse to spout openly far right rhetoric. All this crap about “free speech”. It hasn’t gone unnoticed that to these people “free speech” means the freedom to spew openly abhorrent shit as widely as possibly. Speak against and you, yourself, will find your own “freedom of speech” taken away. What happened yesterday was no surprise after the way the USA has descended in the pit after Trump's election. We do have a chance to turn things around before the next GE but as has been said, Starmer has to grow a pair and grasp the nettles that he has been avoiding thus far.
  22. Didn’t Trump refer to American soldiers who were killed, wounded or captured in combat as “losers”?
  23. Whatever you thought about your County Councils before, most of them now are going to be run by people who haven’t got any experience in running a CC. We have been laughing at the mess Trump is making of the US. Buckle up.
  24. Which is why they get the difficult decisions out of the way early. They would have expected a kicking in yesterday’s polls. The Tories got by far the biggest kicking though. It’s quite incredible how a party that has been so strong in local government over so many years have been wiped off the map. Farage has a massive problem now. He has chipped away from the sidelines for years. Now he is under the microscope big time and has to show he can deliver. He will fail spectacularly because he has nothing but hatred of immigrants in his locker.
  25. Mixed news. Great to see the Tories finally lose control of Kent CC. On the down side it is now going to be run by a bunch of Faragist henchmen and women. Still, if it means that the odious Badenoch’s days are numbered as Tory leader that is one cloud with a silver lining. Unless she is replaced by Jenrick of course.
