    Ched Evans

This “bird” did not bring this case against Evans nor did she accuse him of rape. If you had bothered to follow it you will know that it was the CPS who decided to prosecute based on her inability to consent. Before you get all sentimental about Evans being a victim here, go back and acquaint yourself with what he did. If you are still ok with it you are no better than Batman who clearly thinks that incapacitated women are fair game. Given that you still call women “birds” your misogynistic comments come as no surprise. Give this some thought. He was found guilty of rape in the first trial. He was found innocent in the retrial after two witnesses came forward when £50k was offered. Where were these two witnesses in the first trial? Funny that they suddenly felt compelled to do the right thing when there was money on the table. There evidence also had nothing to do with Evans behaviour that night, which some of you think was apparently ok. The prosecution believe Evans to be guilty of rape still, but if you think that he did nothing wrong, that is your issue.

Was it served with OJ Simpson? I have told you what I think several times. Sadly you still seem to believe that his behaviour was totally acceptable.

Unlike you not to be on top of a story like this. As for Evans, I am happy that he has been exposed for the low life he is. I am not happy that people with money can buy “justice.” I am also happy that the whole debate about consensual sex is out there, even if people like you still think it is perfectly ok to have sex with someone who is completely out of it on drink or drugs and who you have just found on the streets.

I wonder what Batman’s thoughts are on the Alex Hepburn case. Wrongly convicted? Just lads having a bit of fun?
  5. I’d rather people were sanctimonious than racist.

Just a normal night out in your book though isn’t it Batman. You must be delighted too.

The Evans camp must be delighted. They have got the money they paid out for witnesses with “new evidence” with interest.
  8. I agree about the hatred and bigotry. There are people here who clearly have issues still. The problem is that it doesn’t seem to be limited to a few idiots who have had too much to drink at a football match. John Barnes’s point that we need to make it unacceptable in society in general is very sad because you would like to think that it would be less of an issue in this day and age. That is why I raised the amount of media attention that the Oscars were getting over the lack of diversity also on the entertainment industry. It appears that the usual suspects struggle with that concept though. Still , as one of the usual suspects also struggles with the clear fact that women are still not getting parity with men as regards wages it isn’t surprising. Back to racism in football. Perhaps it is time to start docking points? Clubs might do more then to identify and ban those idiots who are still rooted in the 70’s.
  9. As Lighthouse has had enough of the Danny Rose thread, perhaps we can have a wider debate about the issue here? Those of us who used to attend football matches in the 70s and 80s will remember it only too well, and the fact that we are still discussing in 2019 shows how little we have progressed. John Barnes makes a valid point when it says that it is not racism in football that is the problem, it is racism in society. To pretend that this problem is now confined to a few people in football crowds completely misses the point. What it has done is to highlight the fact that we still have a problem. Since the Rose statement many more players are coming out with there own stories about racial abuse. It seems to be much wider spread than just a few idiots in the occasional match. The issues around the lack of diversity at the Oscars shows that we still have a problem. What more can we do to get rid of this cancer in society?

    Danny Rose

Spot on. The fact that people like Barnes, Sterling and Rose are talking about it now shows that it is still s big issue. White people will never know what it is like to be abused the way these people have and some of the comments on here show how out of touch we’re still rare with this problem. Racial abuse has no place in any society, let alone what is supposed to be a civilised one. The fact that Rose is being picked up for his “attitude” and flippant comment shows that we still have some way to go. The issue here is the racial abuse being hurled at him, not what he spends on a night out. He was clearly just making a point about the poor level of punishment meted out to those guilty of racial abuse. It has no place anywhere. You wouldn’t make monkey noises to another person in Tescos so why do some people think it is ok at a football match? It has nothing to do with “thick” people. It is racism, pure and simple.
  11. Looked very good for the first half of the first half but the longer the game went on the more they looked like they would win. One shot on goal was disappointing as was the keystone cops defending for their first and getting caught out again on the break from our corner for the second. On the plus side we are so much better than we were under Hughes.
  12. The current opinion polls seem to suggest that Corbyn will be our next PM if there was an election now. Not bad for a "dead party."
  13. Just because something sounds unlikely it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Read the book The Truth of the Lie. It does pose some interesting questions that the McCanns have yet to deal with in a satisfactory way. They may be guilty of nothing more than child neglect, but to write off the Portuguese investigation as if it was carried about by Inspector Clouseau is far too simplistic.
  14. I haven’t seen the Netflix programmes, but did think that there was other evidence along with the cadaver dogs, such as there being no evidence of a break in. Also the dogs had never failed before. Not sure why they would identify different DNA?
  15. You have to wonder what is so special about the McCann's that they have not been charged with child neglect and why the police are still pouring tens of thousands of pounds into the investigation long after other missing children's investigations would have been closed down. There is one thing for certain, the McCann's are responsible, one way or the other, for the disappearance of their daughter. From the start they and their mates obstructed the investigation by the Portuguese police. Whatever you think of Amaral, if you read his book you can see why he came to the conclusions that he did. Perhaps the McCanns were harshly treated by the initial investigation, but how self obsessed do you have to be to go out on a jolly and leave three very young children unattended for long periods of time? It isn't as if there weren't baby sitters available at the resort and they certainly weren't short of a few bob to pay for the care. They are not the victims here, their daughter is.
  16. What is your opinion about the battle bus with the slogan about funding the NHS with the money saved from the EU on the side? As whoppers go, that one was a corker. Fell free to enlighten us as to what lies the Remain side told that were any where near that one. Let's park the years of anti EU propaganda spread by The Mail and The Sun and the b/s about immigration. As for hypo and his problem with the "middle class" remainers, you do realise that without their votes you would be governed by the very "dangerous" socialists you seem to have such a big problem with? In a democracy all votes are supposed to be equal. That means Tommy Robinson's vote is worth the same as the middle class supporters of Remain that you struggle with. The Brexiteers are cra pping themselves because they realise that more and more people can see they were feed b/s by the leave campaign and more and more people are changing their minds.
  17. Clearly those choosing to protest about Brexit are a diverse bunch, but what difference does it make if they happened to be all middle class and white. Do their opinions count for less than those of a more diverse background? It seems that along with Muslims, we have found another group of people that hypo disapproves of. You can see why Tommy Robinson appeals to him so much. Strangely enough, of the few people that I know well who are strong Brexit supporters, most of them are white, middle class and would look out of place on that coach. Still, this being Britain, the only people we take seriously when protesting are those who use violence as a means to an end - and they ted not to be decent, law abiding people.
  18. Didn’t Einstein say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result? The people we elected to represent us have voted twice, with a large majority, to reject this deal. Why should they be expected to vote on the same deal again? We clearly need to find another way forward. If May cannot or will not contemplate the obvious we need a new PM who can. For those bemoaning the lack of democracy, what does it say about democracy if MPs have to keep going through the same process until they are worn down to the point they say yes? This deal is dead and should be buried, the PM along with it.
  19. This lady needs to resign. Today preferably.
  20. The least personal publicity these scumbags get the better. He will soon just become another nameless nutter who will rot in jail having achieved nothing other causing meaningless heartache.
  21. Just wondering... are the people who kick off about those who want a second referendum the same ones who are now complaining because Bercow will not allow May to keep bringing her Brexit plan back unchanged until MPs accept it? Double standards?
  22. Gone by Christmas? You don’t have to look very far to find some gems on here do you?
  23. Don’t you mean kicking lumps out of people? Don’t you remember Pele getting kicked out of the World Cup? Thankfully that doesn’t happen so much now.
  24. Which ever way you voted surely the last two years have demonstrated a) what a crap political system we have b) what a cr ap bunch of politicians we have and c) how cr ap we must look to the rest of the world looking at the televised sessions of Parliament, especially when dealing with Brexit.
  25. Quite right. The Australian PM described him as an “extremist right-wing violent terrorist.” Let’s not water this down.
