Long-Bailey has made a pitch to get rid of the House of Lords. No bad thing but she really should be focussing on issues which will turn around Labour’s fortune and this is hardly a major issue for them at the moment.

If Labour had been pro Brexit and Tory remain we could well have seen a very different result.

But you knock “woke celebrities” for using their platform to spread their agenda. The only difference is that you criticise those you disagree with in any way you can to discredit them. You are no different to a “woke celebrity.” You have an agenda. You have an audience. You take the opportunity to spread your agenda to your audience. Other can choose to ignore you, agree with you or disagree with you, as we can with “woke celebrities” or people you cherry pick from Twitter.

Let’s get one thing straight. I have no problem at all with politicians of any party facing negative press. But there is a huge difference between negative press that is true and negative press which is not true. Corbyn and previous Labour leaders have had to face fabricated and spun stories against them to a far greater extent than happens to the Tory party. For all the bleating about the need to stand behind democracy, how does that work when the electorate is fed a constant stream of misinformation?

He really doesn’t get the difference between old Labour and new Labour. Perhaps if there had been Twitter back then dear old hypo would be better informed about “dangerous” socialism.

What about the negative campaigns against the likes of Kinnock, Milliband etc? It hasn’t just been Corbyn, it is a common factor with Labour. Are you saying that the majority of the national press is completely unbiased and only ganged up on Corbyn?

I should have added that if I was on Twitter I expect that I could find plenty of tweets arguing against western intervention in the Middle East.

They really need to find themselves someone who appeals to the electorate. Making someone leader because they have ovaries and a northern accent will not help if that persons can’t take votes from the Tories. Blair managed it by having a total rebrand. It is probably time for another. We don’t often elect Labour governments in this country. Whoever gets the gig will have a hard job to turn things round.

No, I am saying if I wanted to engage on Twitter I would log in to Twitter. As it is I have chosen to be on Saints Web, not Twitter.

Once again, perhaps we can get this thread back on track. It will be interesting to see how the media deal with the new Labour leader. Starmer, as a front runner, has already started to get negative press and that is before he has been elected. How long before the drip feed negativity starts for the other candidates?
