  1. Fair point Dalek. You are nothing if not consistant!
  2. A grieving husband goes into a Yorkshire funeral parlour to arrange the funeral of his beloved wife. When asked what he would like on her gravestone he said I would like to keep it simple. I would like her name at the top. Her date of birth and death in the middle and at the bottom I would like "She was thine." Very good said the director, pop in next week and you can check that the headstone is as you wish. The next week he goes back to inspect the work. The name was correct as was the date of her birth and death, but the bottom line read "She was thin." The husband pointed out the mistake and that an "e" was missing. The Director apologised profusely and promised to rectify the error by the day of the funeral. The day of the funeral came but the husband was devastated to see that the headstone now said "E, she was thin,"
  3. Following on from the is Katie Hopkins a Christian debacle ( and I must hold my hands up here and admit that I was going to amend my definitely is to I assume she is statement but by the time I had thought about it the attack hamsters were on me and it would have looked dodgy to change the post at that point) and a debate we had in the pub the other day about whether Britain is still a Christian country, I wonder what the view is here about what constitutes "Christian." Someone on here the other day said that a Christian is someone who follows Christ I think? Given that he has been dead for over 2000 years (even if he existed) it is hard to follow someone who is dead. You can though follow his published teachings and tenets and I shall come back to those later. I don't know many people nowadays who are firm believers and who go to church regularly or who pray at home. Off the top of my head I can think of 3 (and one of those is a Canon). I do know many people who celebrate Christmas though which as we know, is the celebration of the birth of the son of God. Is that enough to make them Christian? The conclusion of our boozy discussion was that although we like to think of ourselves as a Christian country were are probably now a Christian country with a small c. What does that mean? To us it was that people now probably don't believe in a bearded deity sitting on a cloud passing judgement on us underlings. We do however sign up to the way that Jesus taught us to live our lives along the lines of the Ten Commandments (those of which seem to form the basis of the social contracts in a multitude of diverse societies). Whatever we think of religion (any religion) it seems a good idea not to kill people, not to rape people, not to beat people up, not to steal from them or to **** other people wives etc etc. We are happy to pitch in with religious ceremonies like Christmas and the goodwill to all men malarkey that prevails at this time of year along with other ceremonies such as Christenings, marriages and burials which are still part and parcel of our lives as Christians. Given that we have pretty much given up on Sunday being the day of rest, going to church each week, praying daily, saying Grace before our meals, why do we still carry on with other Christian activities? Is it because we have grown up force fed with this stuff so go along with it because that is what is expected to happen in a Christian country? Is it because despite our rational minds telling us that there is no such thing as a virgin birth, that the Universe was created by the Big Bang and not by design, etc we still harbour thoughts deep down that there still might be something in it? Are we hedging our bets and playing safe? WTF is all this waffle about you may think and I am finally coming to the point. Katie Hopkins made a point about being able to take her daughter to their Nativity the other day. She said she felt fortunate that she was still able to do so. I assume her point is now with more multi faith schools, fewer of them have Nativity events at Christmas. But does this matter? If we have become a country that doesn't really believe in a God but does believe in the tenets of Christianity why make a fuss if there are fewer events where you can toddle along and celebrate a virgin birth? Is it the fact that Nativities (Christian ceremonies) are important to us still or is it the fact that we have fewer because we have more multi-faith children in our schools, and some cant handle or don't like that? One of our group is an Atheist who gave a very strong argument for stopping the teaching of faith in schools - his point being if you want your children to grow up in a certain religion, that should be done outside of the educational system. It is hard to argue against multi-faith schools doing away with the Nativity if the number of "Christian" children is in the minority. To recap then, is there a reaction against it because those opposing the decline of the Nativity do so out of the strength of their faith, or is it because the rise of other faiths in this country is making people uneasy?
  4. I think the only room we are likely to share is a padded cell Shurlock!!
  5. It is simple. We are not allowed to lose. We can occasionally draw but it is better if we do so by coming back from 2-0 down and equalising with the last kick. If we do lose the manager is crap. Whatever the result JWP is crap. The Board have no ambition and are just in it for the money. None of them knows anything about running a football club. If players wish to leave the club to further their career it is the fault of the Board. Cortese was a footballing genius and the Board screwed up big time by not letting him have all the money he wanted so that his dream of Championship football could have been fulfilled. If you aren't a bed wetter you are a Happy Clapper and as such your views are null and void when we lose (or sometimes draw) a football match. It is important to pint out at least every two days how poor we have been since we let Morgan go and how we haven't replaced him. Koeman is only interested in Dutch players and will play them (or any who have played football in Holland) regardless. Koeman is clueless tactically. He got lucky last year. The Leibherrs are tight fisted bastards who are holding us back by not ploughing their money into our football club. It is Les Reed's fault that Toby Alderweireld decided to sign for Spurs. I may have missed a few things out but if you stick to these guidelines you cant go far wrong on here.
  6. Is he dead yet?
  7. From a member of Her Majesty's forces? Treason surely?
  8. Every time I post on this thread I see that the attack hamster tag team are out in force. If you are referencing me I can save you some time as I have you both on ignore and only see your posts when they are quoted in other posts. This is in deference to Hypo who got his knickers in a twist when I put him on ignore but committed the huge crime of still reading a post of his. Merry Christmas to the both of you.
  9. Does having a bottom four budget (if that is the case) equate with having no ambition? You can still have European ambitions on a budget. You chances of achieving those ambitions will not be as good but how much have Leicester spent in comparison with us?
  10. Indeed. If he turns out as well as I don't see how anyone can complain ( I am sure they will though because he is not Schneiderlin).
  11. So you have decided not to answer my question Batman? Fair enough.
  12. Would it be so much easier if the opposition didn't outplay us at all during a game. Those other pesky Premiership teams need to stop trying to beat us.
  13. I am no goalkeeping expert but I do think that any keeper would have struggled with most if not all of those that Liverpool put away the other week. On top of that I struggle to think of many times this season when I have thought that was down to the keeper. Stek hasn't had the cover that FF had last year. Have you ever played in goal? It really isn't that easy when players have time and space to place their shots. You can say he should be doing better all day long but there is only so much any keeper can do. I really don't think he has done a poor job for us.
  14. I still cant believe that Clasie has been written off so soon???
  15. And that is what football is all about. Liverpool hit the back of the net with virtually every shot they had against us the other day. On other days those shots will go into row z or be saved. It has been a very strange season so far. Who would have thought that Leicester would do so well consistently every week? Apart from them anyone is capable of beating anyone else it seems at the moment.
  16. I still cant get my head around that Liverpool performance. Strangely I think we would have played better if we had played their strongest side. Probably going a goal up so early didn't help either mentally. But after all these years of supporting Saints we know we are capable of being total pants one day and playing a decent side off the park the next. I am hoping that we do so with Spuds.
  17. He might be on to something here. Perhaps we should have a release clause for every manager who loses games in December?
  18. I am mentioning you because I asked you a question. You chased me up for answers regarding another question so I am chasing you up. I am more interested in your response to this question than I am in the religious beliefs of a media wannabe by the way.
  19. Batman seems to have slunk back into his cave. Gotham City to Batman, any thoughts on border closures for Muslims?
  20. And it happens every season every time we lose a few matches. Les Reed is useless when he was a hero before. Koeman was the best manager we have had for years and now he is useless. The squad is the best we have had and now they are useless. It is the same crowd though who are still bitter about Cortese going and players leaving, most of whom probably had soggy matresses for the last two summers, who come out of the woodwork to have a pop when things are not going well. Do you know what. It is a game. I my lifetime only one team has gone through a season unbeaten. We are going to lose matches. We are going to play poorly. It is what it is all about. If you cant handle that part of the process it might be better that you find something else to follow that doesn't give you so much angst. None of us like losing but at least some of us can keep some kind of perspective when it happens.
  21. Hopkins is here because in her interview with Andrew Neill (see earlier vid post) she made a big point about not enough Muslims coming out and condemning the terrorist attacks. Specifically she said not enough for her, as if she gets to decide on the number or decides how many are enough.
  22. Yes it is a shame you missed that because she tried to get it in a couple of times so it was clearly an issue for her. As for Mr Fry's comments in your post, doesn't he know that I am supposed to be the one making things up. not him?
  23. You are getting these questions because you have decided that I am an idiot and I am trying to engage in a debate with you. You talking about the people railing against me here as if it is the majority of the forum. It is a handful of the Usual Suspects who gang together to have a go at people in tandem. Yes, it happens to others too. I don't think I have said anything controversial yet the cabal have decided that I have and I just wonder why that is? When I pointed out that a poll showed moderate Muslims in a positive light one went to town on me because 10% weren't (yes a staggering 90% were against the terrorists). I was told I was spinning the figure. I really don't see how anyone can argue that peaceful Muslims are a problem but if I say they are harmless or say that Christians (and any other type of person you care to mention) also commit murder and rape I am treated by these few as if I have said something outrageous. I don't know what their agenda is but you have to wonder. I have never supported the terrorists yet to read some of their posts you would think that I do, that is why I don't bother to read several of their posts anymore. I mentioned Hopkins because I didn't care for the her assertion that she feels that more Muslims should come out against the outrages. Perhaps you need to read my posts more carefully Whelk instead of jumping in with the Jolly Boys all the time?
  24. Hi Verbal, apologise/condem, there is an inference with either that there is some kind of responsibility on the shoulders of those who are totally innocent. As you say, Muslims do come and speak against the atrocities but if you watch the interview with Hopkins, not enough. How many is enough? Why does she get to decide? How many times do they have to do it? I can understand why some people might want to stand up and distance themselves from the atrocities. I can also understand those who think it has nothing to do with them don't say anything. Because it has nothing to do with anyone apart from the murderous bastards who chose to commit these atrocities.
  25. It is. Liverpool just scraped a draw at home to WBA. Which is no reason for us wetting the bed given our recent results. But then I am not allowed to say that because it is all doom and gloom and we need to start panicking about relegation.
