  1. Nailed on! The ex players curse! Actually I would be happy for him to score as long it is a consolation goal for them!
  2. I am not sure about the heading bit as I have seen him heading two goals from crosses. Even in Scottish football I think it is a prerequisite that a CH can head a ball. Perhaps Mers had been on the source again?
  3. Sport is very emotive. I remember the mood in our house when we lost 3-2 to W Germany in the 1970 WC. My brother was in tears and my Dad and I could barely speak we were so chocked. I remember feeling like screaming YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS when Bobby Stokes scored the winning goal at Wembley but had to contain myself because I was sat in the Man Utd end! I remember listening to the Everton cup game on the radio when they turned us over and feeling physically sick. Relegation and administration sucked. But we need to find some perspective. Afterall it is just a game. My eldest daughter is moving out of her home today and moving into a flat in Brighton as she is about to start Uni. On Monday I spent 4.5 hours in the car in a journey to IKEA in Croydon that would usually take 1.5 hours but being a wet BH everybody took to the roads. I helped my daughter and her boyfriend load up my car with their stuff, drove them back to Burgess Hill and then drove another 1.5 hours home. I was completely knackered by the time I got back but do you know what, I had completely forgotten about the European exit and hadn't worried about whether we had signed VVD or not. When it gets to the point where football rules your life and becomes the most important thing, there is a problem. When I am on my deathbed I really don't think that I am going to wish that I had spent more of my life on an internet forum. If some people get off on slagging other people off that they don't know to other people they have never met, that has got to be weird, right? And I really need to find something else to do with my time too
  4. So we now have two people who think that KL is skimming money out of the club?
  5. Nice bit of sarcasm. Where does all the money go then? Is Les off buying luxury yachts? Smoke and mirrors? Perhaps SFC are propping up the Leibherr's business?
  6. Isnt casting judgements on other people what you do all of the time though Alpine? And often without just cause?
  7. I love the deflection here. The problem isn't with the poster who makes others angry? Dear God. That explains so much. I will try and explain. Of course not everyone sees things the same. However, a rational person, I would argue, would wait until the transfer window had closed and business concluded before they went into one about how badly we had done. To kick off weeks ago was a completely pointless thing to do because you had no complete information about the players leaving or staying. In fact you specifically said that one player would be coming in and one player would leave. Neither of these things happened and there was a good chance that neither of these things would happen. When you constantly add 2 and 2 and make 367987 and then start mud slinging based on your miscalculations you male yourself look silly. If you truly are this wonderful cuddly loveable family man then why on earth don't you understand why people get fed up with you? I understand that some have the need to vent their lives anger and frustartions on an internet forum, but to do so before you have a very good reason is just plain weird. If van Dijk had not signed and if Wanyama had left, fair enough. Knock yourself out. But the club made it clear they were signing a replacement for Toby (and van Dijk had been the name mentioned for weeks). The club also said that Wanyama and Mane would not be sold. But you chose not to believe that because you think that the people who run the club are incompetent. Despite the fact that they proved that they are doing their best to run this club within its means, you still find fault at every turn. Fine, That is your right. It is also the right of others to call you on it. You can side step the reasons why people get fed up with you all you like but the simple fact is, if you change your posting style and language you would not get as much grief on here.
  8. It is hard to ignore something that is everywhere. The points are being countered.
  9. There are a lot more expenses to running a football club than transfer fees and wages.
  10. I think most people do know that Mane and Wanyama will leave eventually. It is not likely that we will sign like for like as the players moving on are to top 4 clubs. We need to find decent players who the top 4 clubs haven't sussed yet. The term cheap alternative actually makes perfect sense. Why buy a more expensive alternative if you can replace more cheaply (ie Bertrand)? I am sure Juanmi will get his chance. If you only put out a side who scored goals you wouldn't have many players on the pitch. JWP and Davis are both Premiership quality footballers. Agree with the long ball. As for strikers - Pelle, JRod, Long, there are three for a start. Do you need any more if you only play one up top? I think we do have creativity. What was lacking was confidence but we showed against a poor Norwich what we can do, just need more self belief and Clasie and Bertrand fit.
  11. There is a big difference between admitting that a player wants to leave and believing every bit of gossip spouted in the media. How many times have we heard that X wants to go and that Y wants to buy him only to find out that X doesn't want to go and Y haven't made a bid? If you recall, Monk (a decent ITK forum member) said that these rumours had come directly from Spurs to start with. I prefer to believe what our club tells us and at the point when they came out and said he wanted out, that is when I believed it. Frankly there is no point, IMHO, of believing anything until a player actually arrives or departs as there is so much disinformation flying about. If it isn't tough enough being a football manager as it is, trying to keep your club in the gravy train, it must be sole destroying having to deal with these stupid transfer windows and all the media b*ll*x twice a year.
  12. I doubt if he would pass the Black Box Personality Test. I doubt very much as if the club would want him back.
  13. My feeling exactly T & G. Some of the bile that was thrown at the people running this club last summer as well as this was appalling. As I have said before, constructive criticism is one thing but when it comes down to spite and bile then you have to wonder if this is the club for them. If this is the way that normal family men behave it is little wonder where the children get their bad habits from. I have tried the ignore button but that doesn't help as the offending quotes get requoted in following posts. I find it interesting that negative posters can get so much support and we are told that they are entitled to post what they like. Ok but there are rules about abuse and one poster in particular gives out just as much abuse as he gets and has never been banned. Try and engage in a debate with him and you can get called a "bellend" of if you speak in defence of someone who isn't here to defend himself that person can become labelled your "Messiah." It is so incredibly childish and yet, apparently, it can give you forum "legend" status! Really? If the only way you can get pleasure out of a hobby is to vent your anger and frustrations at in on an internet forum, then maybe you need a new hobby. Try as I might, I cant find a definition of supporter that says slag off at every opportunity.
  14. In terms of money I am sure a move to Spuds would be a step up. In footballing terms however I don't see it as much of a progression for him. Surely an ambitious player would be looking for a top 4 club and CL football?
  15. Isnt he an Everton fan? Either there or to Bournemouth if they manage to stay up.
  16. This is something I find it hard to understand. Why engross yourself in something that brings so much angst? Yes, I play the man in Alpine because he seems to suck all of the joy out of what is supposed to be a joyful and fulfilling experience. He also rarely debates but just hurls out negative one liners and abuse. I would love to have a debate with him but it doesn't happen because it is just an expression of frustration and blind rage that you usually get from him. I have no doubt about his passion for the club - we all have that or why do we spend so much of our precious lives wittering on and on. We are grown men with families. We have all lost people in our lives and experienced great joy and deep grief. We should by now be able to put football into focus. Shankley was wrong. There are far more important things than football.
  17. cat
  18. Not at all sure and I really hope that he can turn things around with us. Not holding by breath but I would love to be proved wrong.
  19. We kind of are on topic because said poster wrote just a few days ago that we wouldn't be signing van Dijk (and that Les would sell Wanyama).
  20. Original or worthwhile Dalek? Like finishing 17th and bring back Hoddle perhaps?
  21. I think the word "fixated" is a bit off the mark Duncan. To me he is just like many of the jokers who say they support Spurs but seem to spend their lives moaning about the club. The word support doesn't seem to feature in Alps world. If support mean picking the club apart at every opportunity, hiding when the team is winning and then infecting every thread with negativity when they lose, then yes, he is a passionate supporter. Alternative voice? You could also say negative troll. I am not the only one who gets fed up with his one dimensional negativity, but thanks for singling me out.
  22. Alpine goes hiding when things are going well but reappears when things aren't going so well and dumps a thick layer of crud over any thread that invites his attention. He seems to have a real glee for slagging off the people who run the club and digs out certain players for his special attention who are normally given really funny names, like Gashton. Call me old fashioned but the word support implies to me an element of getting behind your club, not running it down. That is not to say that everything is always perfect, but there is a real difference between constructive criticism and basic slagging and negativity. Nice to see some of the bed wetters backing him up too. Good to see you sticking together when one of your main moaners falls flat on his face (welcome to Virgil and what a surprise, Vic is still here - not what our passionate sage was calling at all).
  23. Sadly it happens to some players. We are not the only club to buy a player and for whatever reason it doesn't work out. He clearly can play but it doesn't look like the Premiership suits him. I hope he finds a decent club elsewhere and revitalises his career if he is done here.
