  1. Apparently he was all set to move to Rangers on loan but the move fell through when we wanted £1m for the loan as well as for Rangers to pay his £30k per week wages.
  2. So you don’t support Trump but when I said if he was elected he would make things immeasurably worse you responded as above. Sounds like support to me Nicky boy.
  3. For the keeper alone I would give it a 10. After a long period of whinging about the lack of quality in goal we have signed someone who is still a decent age and could easily fill the number 1 spot for a top 6 PL club. Not only that but he looks like a big personality too which can only help in the dressing room and in training. For a club in our position this is an incredible signing and I still can’t quite believe it has happened. I’m not going to cast my vote until I see what score Batman gives it though 😉
  4. So the point is what? If you don’t like Oasis you must be either gay or a “lefty?” The 70’s called and want their stereotyping bigots back.
  5. There are rumours that Cornet is off to Palace ???
  6. Wasn’t Sunak proposing to ban smoking all together?
  7. So you would rule out signing an Islamophobe then?
  8. Because people who don’t call out homophobia are pricks.
  9. Did I hear right that none of the gigs are going to be filmed? Assume that it to push demand for expensive tickets. Geldorf did something similar with Live Aid. He didn’t was the film to be released as he wanted the event to be like a “shooting star.” Given the whole point of the event was to raise money for the starving, what a stupid, precious, stance. I’m sure they will sell out the tickets anyway, so filming it only adds to the pension fund down the line.
  10. It depends on exactly what his personal belief’s are doesn’t it?
  11. I was hacked down from behind when I was about 27. I tried to play on in the hope that it was a mild sprain. My ankle blew up like a ballon so I had to leave the pitch. Foolishly I didn’t bother to go to A & E as, even back in the later 70’s the waiting list was long. It didn’t get any better and after a 5 mile hike several months last I decided to have it looked at. An x-ray revealed a healing fracture along with ankle ligament damage. That was effectively the end of my football career. My ankle is still painful over 40 years later. He will have the best care of course and hopefully he will make a full recovery, but serious ligament injuries are not very forgiving, especially in an arena like the PL.
  12. We can beat Everton but I would prefer to see more of the 1st team start next time.
  13. Bizarre game. Archer looked good.
  14. Archer the Mara upgrade?
  15. To be fair he is probably right as things stand. If he comes here though we will soon drag him down to our level. 😉
  16. I’m old enough to remember when managers often used to build teams around certain players. Now players have to fit into prescribed systems. Hopefully this phase will pass at some point soon and we will return to flair and individual moments of brilliance instead of keeping up the possession stats.
  17. The last 14 years of Tory rule have been an unmitigated disaster yet not a peep from you. We are where we are financially because of the people you voted for. Whinge all you like but the rest of us will never forget…
  18. It’s a shame but hopefully the money will bring in someone better suited to our system.
  19. The other keeper deal was down the toilet hence the picture?
  20. Yet. 😉
  21. The greatest trick is dying young. Lennon, Jackson, Bowie etc all sold tons of records when they popped their clogs. Not sure how that works with streaming nowadays though? Oasis were always going to do a reunion tour, the lure of the £ dictated that. It was just a question of when rather than if. Scary to think that was all of 30 years ago. Great for their fans. We all have our golden age of music and I was lucky enough to grow up to The Beatles, the Stones, The Who, The Kinks, The Small Faces, The Yardbirds etc. Never saw The Beatles live which wasn’t a problem as you probably couldn’t hear them play for all the screaming, but I did catch Paul McCartney who featured many Beatles numbers in his set. Magical. I started going to gigs in 1971 so caught the golden age of prog rock along with heavy rock. Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Wishbone Ash, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, ELP, Genesis (Gabriel era), Yes, The Who along with Rumours era Fleetwood Mac. I found an ELP ticket for the Empire Pool, Wembley in 1974 that cost £2.30. You have to take out a second mortgage to buy concert tickets nowadays, so glad I caught those bands in their prime. Happy days.
  22. Shirt number 99?
  23. Look on the bright side guys, it wouldn’t be a normal transfer window for us if it didn’t include a long running saga about signing the player who would take us to the next level only have to have him end up somewhere else and going into the final days fretting about filling a crucial position with ever diminishing options.
  24. I think that it would be quite fitting and wouldn’t have a problem with it (as long as we won the game 😉).
  25. Two abiding memories from that era; the Gallagher brothers arguing over which one of them was John Lennon and the bickering between them and Blur as to which band was The Beatles. If The Beatles’ Chelsea boots had had laces, neither band could have laced them. Best moment? Peter Kay calling Liam Gallagher a knobhead at an awards ceremony. I did like the Morning Glory album back then though.
