Rickie Lambert was a legend for us and people who appreciate proper footballers know that Rickie was, and is, a proper footballer.
-
Talking about Rickie's legs going, he never had "legs." He was a Teddy Sheringham type player whose first few yards were in his head. His link up play and positional sense are superb. He deserves to be playing every week and I hope he gets a move to a club that appreciates him.

How do you know this? It really doesn't tie in with the way the club wished him well does it. It is clear by the way the club says its goodbyes as to how they feel about players. I had heard that it was Cortese's idea to move him out. Does Rickie really come across as the type of person who throws a wobbler?

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 3-0 Vitesse Arnhem - Europa League R3

Players leave clubs or end their careers with every club all the time as well you know Alps. Replacing players is as much a part of football as anything else and it is not just us that has to do it. As has been said dozens of times before, the fact that bigger clubs are after our better players is part of what we have become. If they weren't we would still be in the Championship. Enjoy the ride, don't fret about what may or may not happen next year. -

I am with you on Maya. His mistakes tend to lead to direct goal scoring opportunities. Will always be a no 4 back up CH for me. -
It was Charlie Austin's sisters hairdresser.

Surprised that no JRod on the bench tonight. Anyone know why? -

To be fair, Alpine trots it out himself most weeks. -
Aboslutely! I will always remember that amazing save by Banks from Pele - was convinced he had scored. And the tackle on Pele by Moore. Perfect timing. The respect that both teams had for each other really came through at the final whistle too. People keep banging on about Brazil but in those days they, and the Dutch, took football to another level.
-
Harsh! How do you know that he lied and schemed? He may well have been happy to stay here before he knew that Spurs were in for him. People change their minds when they get better options. He has moved on, time you did too.
-
He can get to practice his Dutch with Ron and Erwin!
-
Really? Moore. Charlton. Greaves. Osgood. Ball, Best, Marsh etc. I accept that the players and the game weren't as quick then but they had to play on quagmires in the winter. I am sure that the best players in the 60s and 70s would still be decent if they were around now. The also had to put up with tackling that would see players arrested now! And I still maintain that the Brazil side of 1970 was the best I have ever seen.

Its all shaping up nicely. A quality replacement for Toby and possibly another midfielder and we are good to go.

Doh, just seen the sticky! Yep, good bit of business and gives us time to find a replacement for Toby. -
Booby Moore didn't have any pace but he didn't do too badly!

Ok, would be a decent loan signing I think. Good to have an option to sign him if he proves himself too. Doubt if he is the main target though. As you say VVD seems more logical. -
Are we being linked with signing Alpine?
-
An air of complacency yet you are happy with three out of four signings (the other you already decided was carp even before you saw him kick a football) and you have been told that the club are looking to bring in one or two more CBs? Jesus Alpine, you really do take the biscuit. Unless the club sign six players on the opening day of every transfer window its hard to see how they can keep you happy. As for Stekelenberg, I suspect that Ronald Koeman thinks he is an adequate stand in but whether he reaches your standards remains to be seen.
-
Don't you think the club is "going for it" then? Given that we cant compete with the likes of Manure. Chelsea and City, what sort of players should we be looking to bring in? The likes of Rojo and Clasie have either been signed or linked with top four clubs so it doesn't look to me like we are scrabbling about for crumbs. We are never going to sign Ronaldo but that doesn't mean we cant be competitive. We were last year and I am sure we will be this year. If it is big time stuff you want perhaps you are supporting the wrong club?

The security guy at the French end of the tunnel was saying that he doesn't have enough man power to deal with the situation. Ok, get more! Perhaps the French should deploy some troops? You can bet your life they would if the problem was the other way around and hundreds of immigrants were coming through the tunnel their end.
