Well spotted UJ! Actually although I could quite happily live with Jeremy Clarkson and others like Katie Hopkins who make a living out of being "controversial" I appreciate that they have an audience. Not my cup of tea but each to his or her own. What does irk me somewhat is that over half a million people are more bothered about him not appearing on Top Gear this week when he has been suspended for gross misconduct. If you or I were to take a swing at someone at work or in the local for that matter, we would be sacked and possibly arrested. We are supposed to make allowances for this guy because he is a "larger than life character" and he makes the BBC a lot on money. Sorry that doesn't cut it in my book. He is just the same as us ordinary folk when it comes down to having bad behaviour dealt with. If found guilty of the alleged offence (in deference to Batman) he should be treated the same as everybody else. However, unlike everybody else, he will probably end up with a better paid job and even more notoriety/fame. I am not sure what the BBC were supposed to do with this story but they have probably have handled it as best they could in the circumstances. It is all over social media and is a hot topic. Difficult to ignore when they pull one of BBC2 biggest programmes. His antics in the past have no doubt helped build the revenue for the BBC through Top Gear but there have to be boundaries as Ross and Brand found out with their lame stunt when the left those messages on Andrew Sachs's phone. They are both still working though and the same will go for Clarkson.

Watching the TV coverage last night and they wheeled out some nice cuddly presenters saying we need larger than life characters like Clarkson on TV. Do we really? What we need are intelligent people who know how to deal with issues that need dealing with. A grown man inhabited by a naughty schoolboy persona isn't a larger than life character. It is part of the dumbing down that he been ruining TV and the general media in this country for several years now. There is an argument to be had about going too far with PC. Making discriminatory jokes doesn't help. Ok, it happened in the 1970s but as we know now, it was wrong then just as it is wrong now.

Just because we have different views about what constitutes excessive force Sarnia, it doesn't mean to say we cant agree on other things!

Okay, so where does it say that he was a threat to the officers whilst laying unarmed on the ground? On the basis that he had previous it was ok to shot him? WTF? And yes, New England in the Fall is awesome. So long as you don't get shot but some passing police officer

Guys, let us not lose any sleep of the fate of poor old Jeezer. He will continue to peddle his thoughts via his Sun column and he will make programmes for SKY so he will not be short of a few bob. And for many he will be a hero because he stood up to the mighty BBC, made racist and homophobic remarks and hit some poor sod for not providing him with some food. What a f*cking hero.

Yes. But there doesn't seem to be much doubt that he hit this other guy and this is not rule of law it is an internal issue. Interesting that so many people want to defend him when no one seems to deny that he hit someone. How many people have signed the petition? Its ok. Its only Jeremy. We all love him because he is rooted in the 1970s anti PC shtick and that is so cool. Batman, if someone hit someone else on your Sub would that be okay by you? Would they be in the brig or still strutting around the poop deck or whatever the hell it is they have on subs? The bloke is captured on camera making that crass slope joke, muttering the n word, using the provocative number plate etc. But he is so cool because he is giving it to the man that we cant touch him for assaulting a colleague? If he is not guilty I am sure he will be back on our screens with his playful pranks soon, so don't fret. The saddest thing here is that the people who signed his petition don't seem to give a stuff about what he may or may not have done, they just want that bloody awful programme back on the TV.

There have been a number of reports and clearly his bosses feel that he has a case to answer as he is the only one suspended. I am sure there is a very good reason for it though - just as he didn't know that there was an Asian guy on the bridge when he made his slope comment, he had no idea about the car number plate in Argentina etc etc.

Yep, clearly if you don't arrange food when a superstar wants it you deserve to get a smack in the face. Sadly you are right though, the Clarkson apologists are out in force.
-
Even his mate said he did it so it looks very likely that he did doesn't it?
-
SKY and Clarkson are made for each other. Also for all those people supporting Clarkson over this, would you feel the same if it was you he punched just because you hadn't arranged some food?
-
WTF? That's one minute and thirty nine seconds of my life I'll never get back again.
-
It is amazing the affect a wig, some lippy and a bikini can do for a guy!
-
Maybe the word "slope" has fallen out of usuage so much since the Vietnamese War but I know what it meant and I am sure others do to. Clarkson knows what he is doing.

I would also like to take credit for many of the hot totty pictures from the 60s to the 80s on previous threads.

Yes it is Bern BBB. And you are quite right, I have crossed swords with the best!

That really is very sweet of you CL but it will screw my credibility with C B Fry and Alpine, both of whom think I talk b*llocks all of the time.

Bless you PB. Hugs all round x
