I have to say I find it totally bizarre that anyone would think that is it perfectly ok to shoot someone who either does not stay in their car when stopped or is unarmed an is running away. What kind of world is it where police officers are judge jury and executioner over unarmed and often innocent people? I think you have grown up watching too many cowboy and indian films Sarnia. As for having a go at the Brits, aren't you British?

It is a shame that so much time has been wasted on such a ***t. Time to move on guys.

Agreed. And the wages would be an issue I would imagine.

What he said was that the team should move up from the back in support of the throw. What Higgi said was that would put pressure on the team if the opposition got the ball first and punted it forward. Woodward said they should win the ball. Basic sense if you take a throw in. Don't throw it to the opposition. Not sure Higgi grasped that.
-
At the time we were told he wasn't let near the 1st team in deference to Arry. Woodward also believed in practising penalties in a more realistic situation but Higgi didn't think to mention that. Wood ward was brought in because of his knowledge of the winning mentality and sport psychology - not because of his football know how. But then Higgi is/was old school and was brought up cleaning other players boots.

He said Redknapp told him okay name names. When Higgi did he said oi you cant name names lol.

Boat Races 2015: Oxford, Cambridge & the fight for equality
sadoldgit replied to Coxford_lou's topic in General Sports
I don't disagree about sport but think there are bigger issues than the boat race. It is just some snobby annual event that I really think that most people couldn't give a stuff about. All that has happened is that we have two snobby races now instead of one. It would be more of a victory to have women racing alongside men in Formula 1. I am sure plenty of women ate passionate about motor sport and it is one where the physical differences between men and women count for less. Hopefully someone will have the bright idea of integrating men and woman in the boat race and I can go back to ignoring one race each your rather than two! -
At least the cop has been charged with murder. Just as well it was filmed though, they had little choice thanks to the footage.
-
So you really think that running away should be punishable by eight rounds in the back? For a traffic violation?

Hoegaarden for me. More flavour, body and less gas.
-
This is the difference between successful teams and those that bottle it. Time for the squad to man up and see the job through!

Is it Ron losing his way with some players, or some players losing their focus?

Loved the little chip and lob. Pure class.

A point of order. Surely if there were three programmes to go and they have not been recorded he has been sacked? If it was just that his contract had not been renewed then surely they would have made the remaining three programmes?

Sherwood must have really enjoyed his day out yesterday. Great win for Villa!

As has been said, he has been brilliant for this club. Top man.

Boat Races 2015: Oxford, Cambridge & the fight for equality

It is one of those annual events that is part of the British "season" like the Chelsea Flower Show. You can bet if it was the LSE against Camberwell Art College they wouldn't give a stuff. -

I don't disagree and fair play to the girls. Where does it stop though? A womens final before the FA Cup Final? A womens Grand Prix before the FI Grand Prix? I am all for equality and the girls were clearly delighted at the end of their race to have had their day too. I also think that the viewing figures would have been much lower of they had raced on another day and that it is an issue that many people wouldn't have bothered about unlike equal pay for equal jobs etc. I think there are more important battles to fight. -
Well chuffed for Pelle and JWP. 3 points in the bag. Woohoo!

Doesn't he know that our keeper is rubbish, our centre forward is rubbish, our under 21 England midfielder is rubbish.......................

Boat Races 2015: Oxford, Cambridge & the fight for equality

On a more serious note - I never really though about this as a sexist issue. The boat race has always been a male thing as has the FA Cup Final etc. I'd always assumed that women rowed but what does that have to do with the annual boat race (queue the old joke about how come Oxford and Cambridge get through to the final every year). It is something that happens that people make a fuss about that happens to be done by blokes. You could argue that if you open it up to women then you should open it up to other universities too as it is exclusive as it stands to males in just two universities. The whole point about this race is that it is a one off between Oxford and Cambridge and traditionally it has been competed for by males. There are plenty of other rowing competitions out there that include women aren't there if that is your bag? -

If they had agreed to row naked I am sure there would have been plenty of money in it for them! -
Just to clarify, striking comes under the heading of common assault. If the victim or the police had decided to press charges it would have been dealt with in the Magistrates Court. As has been said, it happens frequently and people do not get charged. That doesn't mean that they have not broken the law, it just means they have not been charged. As the injury caused a cut Clarkson could have been charged with ABH. More serious damage could have led to GBH. You don't have to draw blood to be charged with common assault. A slap across the face would do it. Bottom line, if you hit someone you are breaking the law and could end up in court.

I remember the shower rumour, also the one that Graeme Le Saux was gay because he read The Guardian. Oh to be back in those enlightened times!
