Tommy Cooper and Eric Morecombe were both funny men without trying and they still make me laugh today whereas many of their era the comedy hasn't aged that well. There were some classics in the Ripping Yarns series - Tompkinson's Schooldays was epic as was the one about the football supporter. Michael Palin is a great comic actor.

Good call. As funny as a STD.

Sorry Halo, only just seen your post!
-
Spot on. he also started his career with the Black & White Minstel Show - something he likes to distance himself from now. I know this because an ex girlfriend's father was one of the main singers and knew Lenny well.

In my house he is more likely to be alone with me!

I would rather have B+ players and be 4th than A+ players and be 7th. The only teams better than us in my book are Chelsea and Manchester City so what is his point?
-
Has he appealed before and they have been turned down. The case has gone to the review board which isn't the same as an appeal. The problem is clearly that he is now available to work again and there is nothing legally stopping him being a professional footballer once more. The issues now are moral ones about whether he should be allowed to be a "role model" once more. If he were a doctor or teacher he wouldn't be able to resume his career. If he was a plumber or insurance salesman no one would bat an eyelid. The are no rules as such in these circumstances which is why the debate rattles on.

As the other post, who cares? It is just an opinion and we all have one of those. We know we don't have the strong benches of the Citys and Chelseas and we are not a "big" club so why not just enjoy it while it last...and long may it last!

John Cleese seems to have lost his funnybone since he has been in therapy. Perhaps it is their demons which gives them the edge?
-
Just on news. Oldham say they are in a "difficlut situation." Unless they have offered him a contract already and are now having second thoughts what is difficult about it?
-
Indeed. The amount of grief generated when Sheffield United allowed him to train should have told Oldham all they need to know.

You know these navy types, any port in a storm!

I think that the term "under age" was thrown about by the media because she was 15 when first recruited by Epstein,
-
Not sure if marching was involved, unless it was a euphemism.
-
He also pleaded guilty. He was clearly out of order drink driving but also clearly did not set out to purposely kill anyone. Tragic case but very different circumstances.
-
Didn't he also put in a good word for Epstein after his conviction?
-
Nostalgia time - does anyone remember Michael Palin's Ripping Yarns?
-
Saw this on the Americans thread. Very, very funny!

The reason we are doing so well is that for the most part we are playing well as a team. RK and the backroom staff should take a lot of credit for the job they have done this season. The fact that it is so hard to single one player out says it all. Great team effort!

The police made some enquiries and found who she had been with. When interviewed they both said that they had had sex with her and that it had been consensual. The guys trying to film the action through the window did not succeed apparently.
-
A big shout for another defector, honest 'Arry Redknapp - great result at home to Sheffield United!

Me too, Saturday afternoons weren't they? Karl Pilkington would do better to go off on his own. The premise that he is the idiot abroad doesn't really work when there are two bigger idiots sitting up home trying to make their mate look stupid. Sat through the Merchant American sitcom which was painful.
