  1. This is the thing though isnt it? The expectation that anything said on here makes any remote difference in the (real) outside world? Do you honestly believe that the Board convene every day and log on to SaintsWeb in order to work out what they should be doing? They know what they need to do and carry on with their agenda untrouble by a bunch of cyberjockeys. "The board have to buy players" because we say so? I dont think that has ever happened, nor will it. Just as well too if you ask me judging by many comments here.
  2. Which would work if we actually wanted to sell our young players. We put them in the 1st team because that is our modeel. To produce players through the academy rather than have to buy from other clubs as much as possible. Do you really think that we wanted to sell Lallana and Shaw? If what you are thinking (another negative view by the way) was true then Koeman would not get a sniff of the cash and would be told to play all of the youngsters.
  3. Couldnt agree more. Livepool did well to stand up to Suarez and I hope we do the same to Lovren if this is true. Fine him and let him train with the kids until he man's up and behaves like a professional.
  4. Sorry! It is clearly getting to me........and breath
  5. I dont have a problem with different views but it is the constant, relentless negativity that drains the life out of this place that I dont like. You will always get some glass half full or half empty views but there are a number of people who for whom there is nothing at all in the glass and they seem to be borderline manic depressives. To say that they labour the point to death is not an exageration. I can understand when facts are thin on the ground you will get opinions and conjecture, but when people start making up their own facts to suit their agenda it does get tiresome. There clearly has not been a firesale and no asset stripping. A manager has been left and replaced by someone of standing in the game. Three players have been sold and new ones are coming in yet if you were to believe the negative posters we are a club in turmoil and are in meltdown. No we are not but through their constant whinning and negativity even the most rational people start to feel that maybe there is something in that. There clearly isnt and the people running the club are given a harder job because they need to fight that in order to keep the club progressing. I know where MLG is coming from as yesterday I said the same thing on a thred strated by one of the Usual Suspects. That perosn had written countless negative posts and then topped it all by starting a negative thread regurgitating all of the negative stuff he had spouted before. It just becomes soul destroying. I used to post a lot on here but thankfully moved to a place where there was poor internet connection so stopped posting but did read occasionally. Sanity returned! Having now moved and with a better connection I started to read and post more to the point that I thought I would register again. Now I am wondering why I bothered. Whereas before there was the occasional negative poster that seems to have grown into a small group (unless it is the same person posting under different names) who infect the Board and just constantly drag everything down. Yes, of course there is concern about change. Koeman could turn out to be better, the same or worse than Pochettino. The players replacing Lallana, Shaw and Lambert could be better, the same or worse, but for goodness sakes, to summise that they will be worse straight away without any evidence to back up that assertion is delusional and makes no sense whatsoever. To say there is a firesale or that asset are being stripped or that the Board do not know what they are doing when all that is happening is people leaving and being replaced is just nonsense. There are views and there are agendas. People with agendas will take everything that is happening and twist it to suit their position. No grey areas, just black and white. Do you know what? Cortese is not the only person who can have a plan or a vision. Everyone running a business (for that is what this is) has a business plan. Some work, some dont. After a period of instabilty and poor performance we then went through a period of (relative) stability (this doesnt include managers) and relative success (although we only won one competition in that time). It is a rollercoaster ride and there will always be ups and downs yet to read this forum you would think that SFC (or Engalnd for that matter) are immune to the natural order of things and that downs are not allowed. People make decisions evey day, some good some bad. It doesnt make them "idiots" it makes them human (fallible). To spend hours of your day expecting and reflecting on a failure that hasnt even (and may never) materialise is not at all healthy.
  6. Absolutely. Early days yet and clearly new players will come in, so why bleat and moan about how bad things are when we have yet to start the rebuilding process? We also have a new decent manager and I for one am excited to see what he can do for us.
  7. No we are not.
  8. As you bring up these negative points in virtually every thread is there really any need to start a thread especially dedicated to wrist slitting? Just wait. The new manager has barely warmed his seat.
  9. We could end up with a stronger squad come August and a decent amount of money in the bank. It is not what you spend but who you spend it on. Instead of predicting doom and gloom, why not wait and see what happens?
  10. Gareth Bale and Ryan Gigs are both "minor league internationals." I bet SteveDavis is impressed with your assessment of him too. A lot have him down for one of our best performers last year.
  11. Which is your right, but it is his job. You need to consider also what terms they are looking for. It isnt just a question of carrying on as before. I expect they will both look for more money. If the club feel they can get better value elsewhere that is their call. Still, all conjecture so lets see what happens.
  12. Considering the level he played and managed at I wouldnt say he was a ****e judge of players. Every manaager hs their own idea of what they want and what they dont want. Lets see what happens shall we?
  13. The "latest" was that "we" were waiting for a new manager to be appointed before any decisions were to be made. He is now so you would imagine that decsions will be made soon. They may hav already been offered new contracts and are busy seeing if their agents can find them better deals for all we know.
  14. I think it is more a question of does Ronald Koeman want to keep them to be fair.
  15. I dont recall them saying that no one would be sold. Just that it had to be right for the club. If they are now saying that Lovren will not be sold (unless we get a massive amount of cash and lets face it, everyone is for sale at the right price) there is no reason to believe it is "smoke and mirrors." I assume you are still in mourning over the departure of Cortese (his choice)? If you have no faith in the new board, what do you think about the myth he put about that he used to tear up offers for players in front of them and put them in the bin. It later transpired (from him) that other Chairmen respected him so much they never made written offers for our players. There was the occasional phone enquiry but that was it. Bit hard to rip up a phone enquiry in fron of a player for effect isnt it? Why not give the new lot a chance? There are still players to come in and we could end up with a stronger squad. You are just making pointless assumptions to fit your agenda at the moment and are in danger of becoming another Alpine

    The Who

I see they are on the road again on a pension boosting tour. Cant blame them but things haven't really been the same since Moon and Entwhistle passed away. If they want to go out and call themselves Daltrey and Townshend so be it, but The Who it ain't any longer. Hope I retire before I get old doesnt have the same ring though does it?
  17. Did anyone at the club actually say that we would take no less than £40m for Shaw?
  18. If our players were leaving for Newcastle, Aston Villa, Stoke, West Ham etc I could understand the bed wetters' point of view. The fact that they have left for top flight clubs makes it a little easier to swallow.
  19. There are very few clubs who have quality in every position and also as back up. Chelsea were weak up front last season. Man Utd weak all over the park. Liverpool were not strong at the back. Aresenal were short of firepower. Unless they go to Real Madrid or Barcelona they are going to have to tolerate some weaker links.
  20. Have I missed something? Does that mean Davis, Yoshida and others are refusing to play now?
  21. This seems to be some kind of footballing Spinal Tap. I was truly gutted when word first started spreading that Lallana wanted out but if the claims about his behaviour are true (and this ad would certainly indicate that he now sees himself as some kind of footballing God - no doubt fuelled by how he cured the leper children in Brazil just by being with them) then good riddance. No one is bigger than the club and we are better off without him and his over inflated ego.
  22. Matt himself said that he scuffed the shot at the end. Not the cleanish finish but brilliant none the less.
  23. Replacements for Schneiderlen and Lovren? (sorry, should have included the tennis hotties)
  24. The situation was very different under Lowe, not least the lack of cash that we have now. Relax. The Board have known about likely sales for some time now and I am sure they have replacements lined up. I dont think someone like Koeman would be here if there wasnt going to be a decent squad to work with.
  25. We have been linked with a number of left backs. I'll give it a wild shot and say either one of those.
