  1. But the government are trying to justify it. Although I think this all sucks, I won't be striking though.
  2. I have worked on both sides and can say that the public sector is very poorly paid in comparison with private sector jobs and theer is very little job security nowdays as the cuts bite. The up side is you do get a lot of leave but that doesn't pay the mortgage. I am a low level manager. I am earning half of what I did ten years ago. My pay has been frozen for 3 years as have recruitment so little chance of promotion. The lower paid workers below me have not had their pay frozen so the differentila is shrinking. We are heavily understaffed. Because everyone is under pressure sick absence is off the scale. People want a criminal justice system, teachers, street cleaners etc but they don't want to pay for them. My partner has been in the civil service all her life and has stayed because although the pay is poor the pension was good. What is wrong with that? if she was working the the private sector she would double her money overnight. Both of us work from 8:30 to 7:00 fr no extra money. This is so that the people in the privare sector who expect a certain level of service get it. It is all very well saying the country is skint so cut public pensions butwe are not playing on a level field and all you get ispoorly payed workers with a poor pension. How is that fair? Cut pensions but raise salaries to private sector levels.
  3. If you had been following the thread you would know that I work in the CPS and see the case files every day.
  4. You have completely missed the point.
  5. Everyone seems to be dying though!
  6. I expect you see several people a week that you are sexually attracted by. Do you rape them? If men raped women because they were sexually attracted to them tens of thousands of women would be raped every day. A large percentage of women who get raped are not what you would call "sexually attractive."
  7. If it increased the chances or rape then most women would be raped when dressed "provocatively" wouldn't they? The opposite is true. So are you saying a guy gets turned on by seeing someone looking sexy and then goes off and rapes someone looking unsexy? Many rapes are committed by someone known to the victim. It has more to do with availability than dress. Wrong place, wrong time.
  8. Keith Emerson, now you are talking!!!!
  9. Good strike but have you to love that defending!
  10. Ted Bates and Simon Jordan????
  11. As you say, most victims are "dressed down." A lot are wearing trackies or very casual, unassuming clothes.
  12. Mario Kempes seems to have been forgotten but he was awesome.
  13. It is. I work in the CPS and see the case files. There are a great many misconceptions about rape.
  14. Trouble is most woman who get raped do not dress in that way.
  15. Perhaps we should all stuff pillows up our shirts, wear black tie and tails, done false waxed moustaches and sing "Go compare?"
  16. Perhaps we should all stuff pillows up our shirts, wear black tie and tails, done false waxed moustaches and sing "Go compare?"
  17. Not usually my thing but the Diversity/JLS thing was excellent and should have been kept for the final. Bottom line as ever, we don't have to watch and we don't have to buy the records.
  18. Same goes for the Premiership to be honest Alps. Money, that is the bottom line.
  19. I went for 10 days and it rained every day. Mind you that was in August. We stayed on the west of the island but friends who stayed in the north had glorious sunshine every day.
  20. Any truth in the rumour that when suggested he got a transplant for his hair problem he said "No way man, I'd look stupid with a kidney on my head?"
  21. So why bring in these three in the first place? This is the worry isn't it?
  22. He had a great 2nd half ofthe season but the payers he has brought in have not really been quality have they Nick?
  23. Walcott certainly has pace but it is what you do with that pace. Having one great game once in a while does not make you a great player. Walcott does seem to lack a footballers insitct on occasion and perhaps that is why Wenger does not use him so much? He could still develop into a decent player but at the moment I think he is far from the finished article. When watching Barcelone the other night you realise how far behind these players many English players are techincally. Wenger is no fool.
  24. These things need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Take The Apprentice too. You can't tell me these people are the best business talent we have to offer. Two or three are real contenders and the rest there for TV appeal. You would want many of them to run your local chip shop but some of the wannabees to liven up th process. So it is a money making machine for Simon Cowell. He is one in a long line of people who have milked other people's talent for their own means. You just have to look at the queues of people lining up for the auditions. Do the panel actually see everyone of the acts? Its a bit of fun at the end of the day and if people then choose to go and buy records made by people on the show that is there choice, not Cowells. Even established stars are wheeled out to sell their latest single on the show. That's entertainment....or not depending on your taste.
  25. Really? Do you think that Barcelona play the way they do because their players spend several years getting kicked to bits in the lower leagues? Training with the best you can and being fed into the team gradually has to be better than scuffing around in the CCC surely? You can look at Walcotts career or that of a better player, Bale. Hasn't held his career back has it? I would say the reason Walcott has not developed as well is because he is not actually "that" good.
