  1. Agreed.
  2. With all due respect to him, he was hardly in Ted's league. Who knows what might have happened under his ownership but he was only the owner for a season. It is also not true to say without him we would not be here. Someone would have bought us. A memorial by all means and he will be sadly missed, but more for what might have been than what was. RIP
  3. Puts all of the other stuff into context. Very sad news.
  4. Apart from the footy H R Giger is the man. The artwork to Brain Salad Surgery is awesome, as was his work on Alien. Sorry, where were we?
  5. I just knew that there was a sense of humour hiding in there somewhere Alps!
  6. We are all sitting here on computers making comments about a game we cannot see - so why the grief? Everyone out!
  7. After the slow start I don't think that Pardew did too much wrong last season. Without the minus 10 we would have been very strong contenders in the play offs. I assume the 5 year plan originally included two years in Div 1 so I don't get why Cortese should get the hump. Pardew had a big job turning this club round and he is making progress. If he does go and someone else comes in and does no better - what then? We should have been out of sight against Plymouth at half time and that without Lambert and Lallana. He said give him 10 games before you judge and I think that is fair enough. As for tonight, how many people were saying lets forget the cups and go for the league - how many will be after him if we lose tonight?
  8. Thanks guys, still none the wiser as I am defo not hairdresser material!!!
  9. Finally just got around to watching the match. I still don't know how we lost.
  10. To be fair it is not a question of SFC being newsworthy (or not), it is about the story.
  11. Spot on.
  12. I think clubs should have to keep their managers for the whole season. That would soon flush out any differences between CEOs and managers.
  13. Wish he was the England manager.
  14. You are a very odd person Mr Fry. Please do us both a favour and put my posts on ignore. And for the record, how much do you think it will cost us to buy our way out of the 3rd Division? And while you are at it you can let me know how many Champion Leagues have Chelsea won? What return did Ipswich get for their £8m last year? I am sure there are plenty of other clubs who spent a lot of cash over the last few season with little to show for it, but frankly, I can't be ar*ed.
  15. Having had one infamous previous CEO with no idea/little regard for PR, it seems we have found another. Mr Cortese is well within his rights to do what he wants with the club, but you do get the feeling that he ought to run these things past a Max Clifford (or someone like him) before launching another round into the collective club's foot.
  16. Yet you have been kicking off for weeks about the lack of transfer activity and I got the impression that you would rather like answers as to why that was???
  17. Thinking about buying one secondhand but have heard they can be expensive to maintain and to put right when things go wrong. Its that or a BMW Z3. Thoughts please?
  18. Apologies if this has been posted already, but driving home tonight there was a bit on Talksport about us. They said a cartoonist had drawn a picture of the Plymouth goal as the photographers were not allowed in. (Sorry, just caught the other thread and seen the pictures)
  19. I am sure that the tactics change (or are supposed to change) many times in a game. How do we know there isn't a plan B? Perhaps there are plans down to R but they are just too subtle for us to notice any change?
  20. It is not just a question of sacking the manger, it is who you bring in...
  21. I don't disagree that they need to deal with it and I am sure the money helps, but when they are on the pitch surely encouragement works better than slagging? When was thwe last time you saw a team booed who turned their performance around?
  22. eh???
  23. I think we should go all out to win every game we play.
  24. Interesting post. If it is true that the offers we made were "derisory" you do have to wonder what is going on (are you still on here Alpine, what is your take?)
  25. I don't think that is the point John. Would it make things better for you at work if you were having a bad day and a group of people took it upon themslves to stand around you and boo? Does it help or does it just make things worse? I can't recall a team picking itself up and rally when booed but have seen plenty of team come back and score when supported. It was easy at Wembley because we played well and were never going to lose.
