  1. Yes that would be the same Mike Parry who thought that Wayne Rooney was a world class player and would sweep all before him.
  2. Gerrard isn't one of the best attacking midfielders on the planet, I'd say there are at least 30 who are far better. Just look at someone like Iniesta for Spain he's a different class to Gerrard. I think he is, look what he has achieved for his club. Name another 29.
  3. It is down to the manager to get the best of out his players. Do you think he did?
  4. The answer to all our problems is simple, make Alpine manager
  5. Whether they were doing things right I don't know. I do know that cutting the funding to the police and the Criminal Justice System in general (I work for the CPS) is not going to help the crime figures or serve "justice." We are working on a shoestring as it is. If you read The Guardian the other day you will see that crime, whether it increases or decreases, will not be dealt with effectively under this Government.
  6. I am not saying it is all down to Capello but he has to take his shre of the blame. We give managers like Bulrye flak for not playing players in their best positions. Rooney plays well up front on his own, Gerrard is one of the best attacking midfielders on the plant and he plays him wide left. Upson had a poor season and he plays him instead of a player who had a great season at Spurs (after saying he would pick form players). I also thought that A Cole had a poor Word Cup considering he is supposed to be one of the best left backs in the world. Just look at his positional play and he was no threat going forward at all. You could see the problems in the USA game and Capello is paid to fix that stuff. It got much worse and the display against the Germans was one of the worst performances I have seen from an English team.
  7. If you need to score goals do you bring on Heskey (for that matter if you want to win the World Cup would you take him?). True he wasn't spoiled for choice but he did have choices and he made the wrong ones. It was his job to get this sqaud ready to face the best and they looked out of their depth. Why was that? There were some decent players in that sqaud and they looked second class. They have to take some blame but so does the manager. He is paid a fortune and what did he deliver?
  8. Where do you start? Heskey, Upson, Gerrard on the left, Rooney, taking King when he was obviosuly not fit enough to play a tournament, sticking with a system that did nothing for the team, not dropping Terry after that ill advised press conference....he wasn't helped by his players but he made a hash of it.
  9. Alpine Saint in negative post shocker. It is mid July. A few weeks back you were bleating that we hadn't signed anybody and within a day we had. If the right players are available and Cortese sign the cheques I am sure more will come in. You sound like a man who has bet his mortgage on us coming no lower than 2nd, LOL. What does concern me though is that these are the type of signings we would have made a few years back. For someone so desperate for promotion I don't see Cortese splashing the cash - just solid signings, not spectacular. We do need a class goalscoring midfielder and they don't come cheap.
  10. A few years ago, that... We would miss Owen Hargreaves so much? That Emile Hesley would still play? That Wayne Rooney would be one of the worst performers in an England shirt? That we would have one of Europe's top managers in charge, pay him so much money and that he would keep his job after making so many mistakes?
  11. I feel sorry for Webb. What a lot of t*ssers. The only way they will learn is to be sent off but you can't blame him for wanting to keep players on the pitch. Torres must be the worst player in a World Cup to pick up a winner medal. Will we remember the Dutch for Total Football now are Total Thuggery? Apart from the odd game a poor WC. How do you win it with one decent striker?
  12. I get that too. I think it is the way he runs. Good player but runs like an arse.
  13. Poor old Alps, one less reason to moan. Mind you, if we don't sign 4 more players in the next week there will be another negative thread.
  14. There is no way we will walk this league. We need to get the right players in and it will be tough. We have a good base but still need to build. Anyone who thinks it is a cake walk is living on another planet.
  15. Aren't you the same person who was having a pop at national stereotyping a while back? Nice to see you that you have widened your net from the Scots/Northerners to the Spanish!
  16. There is a difference though between someone else doing the job and reporting to you and doing both jobs yourself.
  17. My money is on Nicola Cortese becoming our Director of Football.
  18. Agree that the starts have not really shone apart from Villa. Some even look like CCC players in the competition..what happened to Torres? Messi is gifted but it hasn't happened for him at all. The Germans have been awesome but then they always find something extyra in tournaments whereas we go the other way.
  19. All this talk about lack of technique...the problem with our side is lack of football intelligence. Rooney in particular plays like a kid in a playground. The Germans play it simple and easy and are showing everyone else up. We lost our discipline early on and lost our heads soon after.
  20. To be fair it it was going to affect the company financially you could understand it, but with the Echo story that Cortese freaked over and this, if it is ground improvements, that is hardly earth shattering news.....
  21. I have it on good authority that there is a sweepstake at SFC about how long it takes Alpine to have a seizure over lack of transfer activity. Pardew and Cortese have both drawn dates in August.
  22. I wonder what justifies your arrogance and complacency too Alps? That same team won a cup, beat Norwich at home and had one of thebest goal differences in the league...but hey, just keep looking at life through your sh*t tinted glasses eh.
  23. I have been supporting the Saints since 1966. I can't remember many, if any, times we have made a shedload of signings in June/3rd July. If we start the season without the replacements we need then Alpine's impatience will have been justified. But that is not going to happen and we are just going to have to put up with more of these negative posts until we draw/lose our first match and then he will be negative about Pardew again.
